Chapter 84: The Wand Flies

"Cough cough…"

Murphy coughed, carrying his briefcase, and returned to the jeep.

Serika came running from somewhere, "Murphy, you're hurt!"

"It's nothing, the other guy got it worse, haha."

The sandstorm from the attack was indeed fierce, but Murphy still felt triumphant. The opponent was skilled, but he had won!

He was almost starting to enjoy this feeling.

He had heard about a secret dueling club "Silver Lance," which only accepted wizards using willow wood wands as members. He wondered if it still existed.

Perhaps he could write to Professor Philius later; he was a dueling champion in his youth and might know something.

"Sorry, I couldn't be of any help," Serika said guiltily.

She had watched Murphy and that strange person fight with spells like Illusory Movement and Phantom Body, and although she was anxious to help, she couldn't even see their shadows, let alone fight.

After all, she was just an ordinary office worker and had never experienced real combat.

Even if she had gone up, she would have been instantly defeated by the opponent, possibly even distracting Murphy.

"You're not meant for this, I wasn't expecting your help. Come, check my back."

Murphy's back was torn from the explosion, and his bulletproof vest had a big hole. With Serika's help, he took it off.

He looked at the bent steel plates in the vest and felt a sudden fear. The power was terrifying; without this protection, he might have been gone! Despite this, his back was still bruised and battered.

He had no immediate solution for the bruises, so after Serika applied some herbal medicine, Murphy didn't bother further.

They got in the car and headed straight for Joachim's house.

He needed to resolve the issue of not being able to leave the village.

And having taken down the boss, it was natural to raid his lair next. The object of his visit, the "Seed of the Mind," still hadn't appeared.

On the way, some zombies in the houses, not yet taken care of, desperately hid themselves. Murphy ignored them, planning to deal with them later.

Passing through the transparent ghosts, although they angrily tried to grab Murphy, they frustratingly found they couldn't do anything without physical bodies.

Murphy laughed heartily, while Serika felt sorry for the villagers who had treated her well during her stay.

"Serika, go up and use the flamethrower to burn these bodies."

Serika couldn't drive, so burning the bodies was her task.

"Ah?" Serika hesitated, but considering Murphy's strenuous battle and injury, she didn't want to go against his wish and climbed onto the roof.

The flamethrower was easy to use and mounted on the roof, with little recoil. Even as a wizard who had never seen such a thing, under Murphy's guidance, she quickly learned to use it.

She hesitantly pressed the trigger and was startled by the jet of flame.

The power was frightening!

Operating it herself, she realized the terror of this muggle weapon.

Fire magic seemed like child's play in comparison.

No wonder Murphy said muggles were more formidable than wizards.

He wasn't lying.

"Sorry, everyone..." Serika apologized in her heart to the villagers and then pressed the trigger again.

"Whoosh, whoosh..."

The roaring flames ignited the dry and flammable bodies from centuries, turning the area behind the jeep into a sea of fire.

Serika watched in shock the destruction she caused but soon noticed something unusual.

"Murphy! Trouble! Joachim!"

Murphy turned to see that on the other side of the fire, where the C4 had exploded, a semi-transparent figure with a bird beak mask rose into the air, and then chased after their jeep.

This ghost seemed unusual, shimmering with a kind of blood-red light.

But Murphy didn't pay much attention. You're a ghost now, what can you do? However, Joachim's ghost was still holding a wand, raising it and casting, "Sandstorm!"

A spell hit the jeep instantly, causing it to lose control and flip over, tumbling twice before landing.

Murphy was disoriented and in pain.

How can this ghost still cast spells?! But before he could think clearly, the next spell came, "Thunderous Explosion!"

"No good!" Without a moment to spare, Murphy grabbed Serika's hand, "Illusory Movement!"

They disappeared just in time as the spell hit the gas tank, exploding it and engulfing the jeep in flames. Soon, the flamethrower on the damaged roof also exploded.

Near a bridge, Murphy and Serika materialized as if hitting something, falling from the air and landing hard.

After a while, Murphy sat up dizzily and felt a bone-deep pain. Looking down, his left arm and leg seemed twisted by a terrible force.

Muscles torn, blood vessels ruptured, bones exposed.

Dislocation phenomenon!

In the instant of Illusory Movement, his first thought was the mansion, then realizing he couldn't leave the village through it, switched to the bridge. This instant change of location, although successful, resulted in dislocation.

"Serika!" Murphy called, no response. Serika lay beside him, unconscious.

His wand was lost somewhere.

His tactical belt, taken off earlier for treating his back, was in the car, so he had no spare wand.

His briefcase was open nearby, but out of reach.

Done for.

Pain clouded his mind, and he was losing blood. If he passed out now, he might never wake up.

"Wand, come to me." He reached out his hand.

Nothing happened.

He couldn't cast without a wand, never learned at school, and always had a spare, so he never prioritized this skill.

"FXXK!"

In the sky, a blood-red ghost was searching.

It would soon find them.

Then, he had only one way out.

"Calm down!" Murphy forced himself to calm down and reached out again.

Words of Holton echoed in his mind.

Magic is the alteration of probability.

Simply moving a wand to his hand didn't require reversing much entropy.

Visualize it.

Not teleportation, just using magic to link the closely connected wand and pull it back.

Expand your perception, even if you can't see, but smell and wizard's magical sense can still detect that closely connected magic.

If the magic net isn't familiar with this path, guide it.

First, expand my perception! Second, search and link the magic of the same origin! Third, pull it back!

Suddenly, a faint circuit appeared in his mind.

It was vague, delicate, but at that moment, he felt the existence of something.

Murphy's eyes snapped open, "Wand, come to me!"
