Chapter 29: The Revelation

"So, are you ready?", The wand asked while hovering before Annie.

Annie took a deep breath and nodded while closing her eyes.

"Very well."

Raising its tip at the level of her chest, Annie heard a sharp somewhat nervous exhale from the wand in her head and it said, "In three...two...one..."

Annie tightly shut her eyes and thought, 'Whatever God or being or whatever phenomenon that brought me to this world, hear me out. Please. I beg you. I implore you. Help me find what I'm looking for. Show me where it is. I need your guidance to see what is wrong with me. Grant me that light, if you find my cause righteous. It would mean the world to me... if you could give me this one...'

At the same time, the wand collected enough energy at its core and charged up like an energizer, white and slightly, blue glows came out of the ends of the wand and slammed onto Annie's body.

BANG

Annie jumped slightly when the ray of energy hit her, fully expecting it to be painful but she relaxed when she felt nothing but a strange, tingly feeling in her chest that she felt slowly all over her body and she thought, 'Come on, wand! Find something! Anything!'

[THE WAND'S P.O.V]

Where will I find it?

I kept asking myself that question in hopes that the answer might reveal itself before me as I searched every nook and corner inside Annie's body. But, alas, I wasn't able to.

As a sentient being, I understand that I can't feel the emotions the muggles and the wizard alike feel but I can't help but feel sorry for the poor girl. I watched her cry her heart out just a few hours ago.

Yes, it was her fault for not thinking about it before trying to brew the potion but even when she had gone back to her place after failing, I could still feel the regret in her eyes when she packed up and wanted to move on. So strong that it affected me even after such a long time, and now I found myself not wanting to leave her empty-handed.

So, I searched everywhere. Her heart, mind, blood, her hair. Everywhere.

But, wherever I searched, it only proved to be a detour. Making it harder for me to find whatever it was she had. If she even had anything.

"Is there really nothing?", I said to myself after I found no wisp of magic inside her brain.

I went back to her stomach and ran my eyes all over her organs, muscles, and bones and saw... no wisp, no threads... just simply nothing.

I sighed to myself in disappointment. I found nothing. Again.

Just as I was about to pull my incorporeal self out of her body, something caught my attention.

A flash of something bright just above her belly button. So bright, in fact, that I was blinded by it.

I had to check it out. Without hesitation, I flew toward it and saw a small white flame in the shape of a raindrop burning toward the top.

'What is that?', I wondered to myself. I was sure it wasn't there when I checked every part of her body thoroughly.

Curiously, I reached out to it and it sucked me inside itself.

I saw my surroundings change and a second later, I was in some empty... space. It was hard to describe.

I couldn't care less about that because I had my 'mouth' agape at the sight before me.

'Annie!'

I saw a miniature, corporeal form of Annie levitating above the ground in a fetal position.

I knew exactly what it was. I was staring at her soul. I didn't know how I got here but I knew it wasn't out of sheer coincidence.

When I had checked her body earlier, I had only checked everything except her soul. Because I couldn't find it. It wasn't something I could get into so easily.

But, now that I was here brought me immense joy but that joy turned to surprise, shock, and then pure fear when I realized what was behind her soul.

A gigantic eye that seemed to absorb all the light in this invisible, spiritual space. Its hollow sclera and iris, are surrounded by multiple, twisted golden-colored pupils. This beautiful eye seemed to have an unflinching gaze on Annie's miniature soul. As if judging her, inspecting her, testing her mettle, testing her morals, and her thoughts. For the presence of felicity. For the presence of noble radiance. For the presence of the essence which was the reason she was living.

There was no greater horror the likes of which I have ever imagined than this enormous and indescribable eye. To have the courage to look at it, you had to be... strong. Much stronger than what a great majority of human minds can be.

Luckily, I wasn't a muggle or a wizard. I was merely a wand and the moment this horrifying, paralyzing shock left me, I noticed that my presence seemed to have gained its attention.

At least, that's what I could guess from this frightening, ungodly eye turning to me and just staring at me.

Before I could even move, numerous threads of magic emerged from this mysterious and indescribable giant eye and rapidly traveled in my direction.

Naked white magic threads zoomed into me and bound together to form a giant rope of unknown magic energy just as I was about to fly away, I was violently thrown out.

A split second later, I found myself in Annie's body surrounded by her organs and muscles.

I didn't realize it but I felt something for the first time and I know what the humans call it.

Fear. Pure fear. That's what I felt when that eye stared at me.

I didn't know that I, a sentient being, could feel things and honestly, I wasn't happy about it. Because I would prefer not to have feelings than to feel such fear.

Anyway, I turned my attention toward the rope of unknown magic bound around me and closely inspected it.

I had seen threads made of pure magic before but this... was something else.

The threads had an unfamiliar energy and for some reason, I felt as if these threads could consume my very core and possibly my sentience with a single thought and I'd have no way of dealing with that. Not in a million years, or an eternity. I was nothing to these seemingly infinite threads.

Pulling my mind out of the abyss of my fear, I tried to grasp the magic rope to no avail and I saw a small spark at the very base of the rope forming.

BUZZ

"Huh?!", I widened my eyes in disbelief when I realized what I was looking at.

"Impossible!", I spoke to myself in anguish, "T-This can't be?! This girl.. This kid.. She's.. she's .. a.. "

At the edge of the rope of this unknown magic, a faint golden-white flame was appearing which was growing increasingly. And, with each passing second, I could tell more and more of the truth.

"Annie," I whispered the girl's name, "It's been there all along and I just couldn't realize it.. Until now."

Everything made sense and yet nothing.

The reason she was brought to this world. The reason for her being a Beast Tamer. The reason that I am able to communicate with only her even though I tried to do so several times with my late master but I wasn't able to.

Because this magic was...

 Ancient magic!
