Chapter 12: Reuniting after 20 years

At the dragon sanctuary, Team Prime were relaxing as Sierra was cuddling up next to Jack who had an arm around her. Valka was off somewhere in the sanctuary as they were just trying to relax. Emily was leaning against Optimus who curled his tail around her while resting his head down as Toothless was sleeping only to be rudely awakened by baby Scuttleclaws. Toothless scared them off only to find one teething his tail. He growls at it and causes it to run away as Emily just chuckles softly while muttering in Cybertronian through her and Optimus' sparkbond.

"Hope the sparklings won't be as rambunctious as those Scuttleclaw hatchlings." She giggled and felt a tug of amusement from Optimus as she rubbed his head as he purred.

"Well, guys, we can't wait around for Drago to attack this place. We've gotta find him first." Hiccup said they look towards him.

"Hiccup, didn't you listen?" Raf questioned him in concern.

"Drago will kill you before you could even try to change his mind." Silvia added.

Before Hiccup could even argue, someone grabs him from behind and covers his mouth to muffler his cries of surprise. Every Predabots and riders were instantly in battle stances to defend the kids but soon relaxed when they realized that Stoick managed to sneak up on them.

"Easy now." He calmed them down as Jack put his arrow back in the quiver by his back.

"Geez, you really scared us." He said with a small sigh.

Hiccup pulled away from his dad and looked at him in surprise.

"Are you kidding me? How'd you get in here?" He asked as Stoick was on edge while looking around.

"Hiccup, according to our findings fr before at Dragon's Edge, Skullcrusher is on the Tracker Class dragons, remember?" Raf said and Hiccup facepalm while groaning. How could he forget...

"Rafael is right and we're getting all of you out." Stoick said and Hiccup was even more baffled. Who's here beside his dad?

"We?" He questioned and looked over his dad's shoulder to see that Gobber was by the entrance and looking around for any enemies.

"All clear!" He said.

"Toothless. Team Prime. Come." He ordered while dragging Hiccup by the arm.

They went through the opening and caverns with their dragons following behind as Hiccup and Emily tried to talk to Stoick.

"Dad! There's something you need to know!" He said as he tried to catch up with him.

"Yeah, yeah, tell me on the way." Stoick said as Hiccup groaned. For the love of Thor!

"This isn't an on-the-way kind of update, actually." Emily added as Stoick gave the two of them a look.

"I've heard ENOUGH, you two." He told them sternly.

"...more of the earth-shattering development variety." Hiccup continued.

"Yeah, just add it to the pile." Stoick said as he squeezed himself through a hole with the kids following him not far behind.

Their dragons had to find another way in to follow their friends.

"Trust me, chief. This will be more than what we discovered for the last five years." Emily said.

"Dad, unlike most surprises I spring on you, this one you'll like. I promise! You just have to handle it delicately, so..." Hiccup said and stopped as his dad halted

They all halted to see Gobber looking at something that made him freeze in shock. He slowly turned to them before walking over and patting Stoick on the shoulder as the color on his face seemed to have disappeared.

"Uh, you might want to take this one. Oh, boy." Gobber said before he sat down on a rock before rubbing his head.

"I know it's unbelievable and shocking right?" Vince asked as Gobber just gave him a look.

"Don't start, kid." He said.

Stoick watched that before he drew his sword and walked towards the opening and Hiccup tried to stop him.

"Oh Primus..." Emily groaned while facepalming.

"Dad, can you put the sword away... please?" Hiccup pleaded as Stoick turned to him before he faced forward.

Only for his breath to get caught in his throat as the color on his face drained and paled. He drops his sword in shock as he was now facing his supposed dead wife as Valka eyed him fearfully and warily. Emily, Hiccup and Gobber came out from either side of Stoick. He took off his helmet and started to approach her slowly. The others came out as well as Valka had mixed emotions in her eyes as her husband approached her slowly. There was sadness, worry and fear in her eyes but she was able to steel herself to speak.

"I know what you're going to say, Stoick. How could I have done this? Stayed away all these years. And why didn't I come back to you? To our son." Valka started as Team Prime, Hiccup and Gobber watched on nervously as Stoick continued to approach her silently as some dragons from the sanctuary surrounded her while watching the scene.

"Well, what sign did I have that you could change, Stoick? That anyone on Berk could? I pleaded so many times to stop the fighting, to find another answer, but did any of you listen?" Valka continued as her voice was filled with emotions as Stoick let her continue while approaching her slowly.

"This is why I never married. This and one other reason." Gobber mutters as the kids look at him in annoyance as Emily and Optimus watch the two reuniting couples.

"I know that I left you to raise Hiccup alone... but I thought he'd be better off without me. And I was wrong, I see that now, but..." Valka said as she nervously backed up against the ice wall and was on the verge of tears as Stoick was now in front of her.

"Oh stop being so stoic, Stoick. Go on... SHOUT, SCREAM, SAY SOMETHING!" She exclaimed as tears welled up in her eyes and threatened to fall.

A gentle hand touched her cheek and caused her to stop as Valka stared at him in fear but on the verge of tears as well. Stoick was also on the verge of tears as he took in his wife's face. All those years of searching, he almost gave up that she might not be alive but standing in front of him. For 20 years, his search was finally over as he gazed into her eyes lovingly.

"You're as beautiful as the day I lost you." He whispered as Valka's expression softened.

Valka quietly weeps in relief as a year fell from her eyes before Stoick lifted her face towards his and softly kissed her. The dragons left the two alone as a relieved and overjoyed Hiccup smiles at the sight of his parents being reunited. His family is now complete.

The girls of Team Prime shed tears of joy even Bulkhead and Smokescreen as the guys just smiled at the complete family. Emily smiled softly as tears welled up in her eyes at Hiccup finally having a complete family. She blinked the tears away as Optimus nudged her as she hugged him by his face and nuzzled their foreheads together. Looks like things are finally looking up to Hiccup.
