Over Your Head

I evaded his first attack and blew his shoulder plate off. He backed off and shot a flare of light at me. I summoned a blast of wind and knocked it off course.

"You damn brat. It would help if you had died in that raid," General. Kane said in spite.

"Maybe you should've done it yourself, fool," I replied.

Naldi appeared to leak out a bit. I could feel something heavy above me. There was a magenta aura leaked from my flesh. You could hear Naldi's voice rip through the air.

"Get out of here."

The aura had mistified and disappeared. Finally, the weight vanished, and I refocused on my uncle. You could see that he was mystified.

He swung his blade, and another flare was released.

When our swords clashed, he said, "You are not fit to be king, boy."

I swept and blocked his swing, then kicked his sword out of his hands. I placed mine on his neck and said, "This is my throne. Nothing will change that, General." I demanded that he leave, but he summoned another sword, and we clashed yet again.

I have become annoyed by his childishness. I had to get rid of him as soon as possible. I kicked him away and backed off to the gate. A warrior approached Haloi and me with a message, "They have seized the castle."

I looked at my uncle as he smirked at us.

"Now kneel. Or I will slaughter every citizen of your pathetic excuse of a kingdom," He demanded.

I looked back at my General and uttered, "I have no choice.."

I sealed my swords and looked back at my uncle.

"What are you waiting for, fool? Kneel and announce me, King, or the citizens get it," He said.

A small portion of his army came through the entrance of our gate and captured General Haloi. There was no way this was happening right now. All I wanted was to defeat Revelation, and now my family wants to dethrone me.

I let out a sigh and said, "Fine, you win, King Kane."

I took my coat off, threw it to the ground, and said, "No matter if you're King or Not, I kneel for no one." He wasn't impressed and said, "Well, that's treason. You will be executed for that."

I spat at his feet and said, "You're the traitor that sent his brother to die. You should be dead." I could tell that what I said hit him hard. He ordered his men to take me to the dungeon.

They grabbed me and took me away. As I was escorted through the village, I could see the citizens looking at me worryingly. All I could do was look at my feet as I was being taken to my cell.

They threw me in and locked the doors. Across from me were my Generals.

"You have my deepest apologies, Generals. I could run a Kingdom, I thought. I was being a fool," I began just talking aloud.

General Akins then asked, "My Lord, what are you talking about? Are you just going to give up that easily? You told us yourself you would die for this Kingdom. What makes this different?"

I remained quiet as they tried to knock sense into me. I couldn't do anything. My uncle sealed my swords, and now it's useless to fight. I can't believe he would threaten innocents. That's low, even for him.

General Haloi then said, "What about The honorary General Arzola?"

I forgot about her. She could be here at any time by now.

General Halem chuckled and said, "You really think we didn't plan for something like this? I have a warrior who we made a scout and spy. He'll be here when the coast is clear."

"Even if we manage to get a message to her and escape, Only the person who sealed my weapons can remove the seal. I would be weaponless," I added.

"Then use something that will make him take it off. This may seem unjust, but I suggest you use your cousin as the trump card," Haloi said.

I turned to the small barred window and said, "I couldn't do that. It would be worse than anything he's done before."

"He killed your father and is an active reason your home is in ruins," General Hanoi mentioned."

I let out a sigh and asked, "When is your spy getting here?"

They said that he should be getting here as soon as possible. I nodded my head and sat facing the wall. I picked up a piece of limestone and drew it on the wall as I awaited the spy's arrival.

The profound beauty of never giving up lies in the realization that the darkest moments are but the canvas upon which our brightest resilience paints its masterpiece of triumph
