Encounter With A Spoiled Noble

Classes continued for a few more hours before we were let out to have a break. We were told that the specialty classes would begin in a month so that we have time to adjust to school life first. Our teacher led us to a common room where we had the chance to sit down and relax or to socialize with other kids. We both picked a more secluded spot to sit so we wouldn't be disturbed.

As we talked someone came up and slammed their hand on the table in front of us. He glared at us like we did something wrong. Then he began yelling.

How did you two commoners get into the S class?! What did you do to cheat? He yelled getting louder and louder attracting the attention of the others in the common room.

We didn't cheat at anything. We just took the test and got our results like everyone else. Aeden replied with a neutral voice.

That's impossible! He yelled. I a distinguished member of the Lux family cannot be outdone by two disgusting commoners who can barely use magic.

Well our teacher is over there so you can ask him about it. If we did cheat our way into the S class then he should be able to do something about it. Mihael said pointing towards their teacher.

No I will settle this myself! I challenge you to a duel. When you lose you will be expelled and kicked out of the school. The kid said seeming sure of himself

The teacher walked forward and began speaking. And what will you offer in return for slandering my two students if you lose?

The kid turned around startled and started stammering. W-well I will give them a magic artifact if they win. But they won't win. The kid said sounding sure of himself.

Great then let us go to a battle arena to settle this. The teacher said with a smile.

Don't we get a say in this? Mihael asked.

Nope you don't, take this as an extra lesson from me. The teacher said.

Sighing both Aeden and Mihael got up and followed the teacher to the battle arena.

Arriving at the battle arena the teacher made Aeden and Mihael decide who would fight the kid. After talking about it for awhile they decided to have Mihael fight.

Heading on to the arena the teacher began explaining the rules.

No causing serious injury. No attacking before I say so and when I say stop you stop. Do you both understand?

Both Mihael and the kid nodded. Then the kid introduced himself.

I am Lucas Von Lux. Yes I know you can be happy to be graced with my presence before you get expelled. He said with a haughty laugh.

I have never heard of you and I really don't care. Mihael replied with a shrug.

Alright enough talking the teacher said with a clap of his hands. Let the match begin!

The teacher stepped back towards the edge of the arena as a translucent barrier appeared around the whole barrier protecting the audience from the battle.

Since I am so nice I will let you strike first before I show you real magic. Lucas said with a smirk.

Alright your funeral. Mihael said with a smile and a shrug then he began working his magic.

Clapping his hands together he focused his mana in between them and transformed it into the wood element. Spreaking his hands apart he formed a wooden bow from his mana and used a thread of mana as the string. He aimed the bow and pulled back the string gathering an arrow of fire as he pulled back. Then he wispered a short spell. [Fly true my arrow of justice and give judgment on those who have sinned against me] After he finished he released the arrow and in the blink of an eye the arrow had reached Lucas before the teacher appeared and stopped it.

The winner is Mihael! The teacher said with a smile. Your loss Lucas now hand over the artifact you promised.

That's not fair he must have cheated! Lucas said while stomping his foot.

So you're calling me incompetent then? The teacher asked while staring daggers at Lucas.

Lucas went to speak but immediately shut his mouth before he handed the artifact over to the teacher. He turned and walked away but just before he left he shouted. This isn't over yet! And then he left.

Mihael accepted the artifact from the teacher before heading off the stage and back to Aeden.

You used too much mana on that showy trick of yours Aeden said with a frown. You could've just sent the arrow you didn't need to cast 3 spells for such an easy fight.

Yeah yeah I know Mihael replied with a sigh. I just wanted to look cool okay.

Suddenly the audience rushed over and started bombarding the two with questions. They couldn't understand anything before the teacher interrupted.

Alright everyone back to class, break is over now. The teacher said with a stern voice.

Everyone grumbled but complied heading back to class for their last class of the day before heading home.
