Well, let me tell you... it's just me and my name who and which is going to be tied 'contractually' to the end of the name of my jerk of a (so-called) husband. You heard that---Contractually? Yes. We're just going to be 'contractually 'married' for five years.. for five long years. And since it's only for five years, we don't have to act like those typical husband and wife or a lovey-dovey-couple that you can see everywhere holding each other's hands while walking, hugging, kissing.. and ohh.. eating each other's face. Because that's exactly the opposite situation of our 'marriage'. He hates me with all his guts and same with me, although I really don't know why and where his hates coming from. - - - - - - - - - - - - So, here I am... Chapter twenty-nine: Lover's quarrel

Rian's POV:

"Rian..." Jenny shouts while running towards me. I am walking to the elevator. "What?" I asked as soon as we stepped inside the lift.

"Alex is in the lobby." she blurted out making my head snapped at her face.

"What did you say?"

"Your husband is in the lobby. The receptionist called, she said a man down at the lobby is looking for his wife... Mrs. Rian Smith."

"Oh my God!" I said widening my eyes and gripped the strap of my shoulder bag. How would I explain this to him? Is he still in the lobby? Is he still waiting for me or he already left? My thoughts worsen in every seconds passed.

"He still doesn't know that you're working with Gavin and you're under his supervision?" she asked and I shake my head and brushed my hand through my hair.

"Ohh... and you haven't told him that you were partners for the upcoming competition in the thanksgiving party?"

"I haven't told him about everything." I closed my eyes.

"Oh my.. girl. You should him now before he knows that from others."

"I think he already knew, except the partner thing. I really wanted to tell him the truth but didn't expect him to pick me up today." I sighed loudly.

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You want me to kill the receptionist?"

she said joking.

"Silly! I can't blame them, you know that." I said chuckling.

"But why? They were so talkative."

"Yeah, but they didn't know my real status. No one knows actually in this building, you know that."

"So, what are you planning to do?"

The elevator stopped on the first floor-- the lobby.

"Telling him the truth. But I don't know if he still here and waiting for me." I said pressing the opened button of the stainless door.

"Well.. good luck girl. Call me whatever happens, okay? It would be okay, trust me." she said hugging me.

I approached the receptionist.

"Excuse me, may I know if there's someone looking for me a while ago?"

"Yes ma'am, he said he's your husband."

-'Oh shit!'- I mentally cursed. "Uhm, do you know where he is right now?"

"I saw him going outside to the parking lot ma'am."

"I see. Thank you."

I sighed shaking my head.

My both feet carried me to the parking lot after Jenny and I said our goodbyes. I tried to look around hoping to see a familiar figure or at least his car. And my eyes landed on the figure leaning against his car door.

I take a deep breath before walking towards him.

"Hi." I said cheerfully hiding my nervousness. I kissed him on the lips but he didn't kiss me back.

I tried to ignore the pain as I asked again.

"How's your day?"

But instead of answering me first, he grabbed my elbow and opened the passenger seat without giving me a glance.

"It's fine. Let's take you home," he said before closing the door. I just bite my bottom lip for his cold shoulder.

During our ride home, he didn't say any word despite of me being the 'talking stupid' trying to form at least a small conversation between us.

When he already parked his car in front of my apartment, I asked him.. stopping him to open the door before he could jump outside.

"Do we have a problem, Alex? Or do you want to ask me something?" I unbuckled my seatbelt as I turned my body to him.

It's the first time he hadn't talk to me after the progress in our relationship.

"No. We don't a problem, Rian. Let's get you inside."

He said unbuckling his seatbelt but I stopped him again.

"No?" I am trying to calm myself as the hurt and annoyance starting to build inside because of his cold treatment. "Then why aren't you talking to me from the parking lot and in the whole ride?"

"I told you, we don't have a problem!" his voice raised a bit and I closed my eyes tightly before I asked again.

"Then why are you acting like this? You're like a grumpy old man!" I stared at him.

"Fine! You wanna know why I'm acting like this? Like a jerk and a grumpy old man?" he asked raising again his voice.

"Alex----"

"Because you lied to me! You lied to my face, Rian!"

He's also facing me now.

"What? What are you talking about?" I asked straightening my body.

"You lied to me about your work! You're working with that Gavin and you're under his supervision! And you're together every day!" his eyes flickering from anger. "And that morning, when I told you to call your office, he was the one whom you called! Am I right?"

I bite my lip as I nodded.

"See?" he's shaking his head. "You didn't tell me, any of this. You really waited for me to know from other people before you tell me!" he said brushing down his palm on his face.

"Alex... it's nothing like that, believe me. And I didn't lie to you, i - I just couldn't tell you because you're going to be like this!"

"Like what? And you couldn't tell me? Why, what's the difference with that from lying?  You should have told me!"

"Then what? Like this, like it's the mistake that I've ever committed? Alex, I don't understand why you were so jealous about Gavin! He didn't do anything!"

His eyes immediately back at me.

"This is not about me being jealous or whatever!"

"Then what?"

"This is about you lying to me about this whole situation of yours with him!"

"Exactly! You're jealous with this whole situation! Why is it a big deal to you if I am working with Gavin? How many times do I have to tell you, that he's just my bestfriend!" I also raised my voice at him.

"Bestfriend? Rian, the whole building that you're working at, thinks that you and that Gavin has a relationship! Why aren't you see my point?"

"The point Alex is that, i-it's just the way they think and even it's not true, we can't stop them from gossiping! They will just think what they want! Don't you trust me?"

I looked at him hoping him to see the hurt in my eyes. But he did not. He just tightly gripped the steering wheel with his both hands. I closed my eyes to calm my nerves and to control the tears that start to blur my both eyes.

"I'm sorry if you think that I lied to you. But believe me or not, he's just my bestfriend. I already explained this to you, and if I had to do it again.. I will."

He didn't utter any word.... again, so I continued.

"The point here is, you don't trust me. You don't trust me enough to-----"

"I trust you, Rian! He's the one I don't trust!" he snapped at me after hearing the word 'trust'.

"Why? I can't see anything wrong with him. Just so you know.... he was there for me when you're not." I said seriously.

"That's it! He was there for you when I wasn't there in your life! And he still there even I am now right here!"

"I'm so over with this conversation, Alex! Gavin is my bestfriend! And you don't trust me, that's the truth! You're jealous and possessive that you also don't trust any man who's getting into my life!"

I shouted at the top of my lungs. Thank you that my eyes were still cooperating with me.

"I didn't react to any of those woman from your past.  And you haven't heard any word or words from me about them. I didn't push that issue, although you still have that 'bachelor' tittle to your fans club."

"So, that's it. You're still blaming me for my mistakes."

My eyes turned wide in irritation.

"I don't blame you for whatsoever, Alex! For fucking sake!"

His eyes instantly snapped at me. Yes, I also know how to curse.

"What I am trying to say is that.. trust me! Have faith in me, like I had on you and in this relationship for over four years! If you can't put your trust on this relationship in the first place, then you should not put yourself into it. Because being married is not all about hugs, kisses and sex, Alex!"

I didn't wait for him to reply or to say something. I pushed the car door and stepped out. I heard him calling my name but I didn't even turn my head. I don't want to look at him, because I don't think if I can still hold my tears.

But of course, my traitor heart still waited for him until I reached the front door, but there's no strong hands that stopped me from getting my key inside my bag. And that's when I heard the engine of his car, and the next thing I know... he's driving away.

And then the tears started to pour down. I grabbed the doorknob as I sobbed my heart out. What would I expect? He's been like this ever since... always walking away from me.

I entered the door with a blurred vision. Even Gavin is not gay, he should at least trust me. He also has a circle of friends which consists of playboys and womanizers, but I didn't question anyone of them! Because I chose to trust him and not those around him.
