"I'm not sure." Lilian Mo heard him say.
There were many things she expected to hear from him as an answer but deep inside, she also expected him to keep quiet.
He was always like that.
"Hah." Lilian Mo stood up and dusted her hands together.
"You aren't sure?"
"I suddenly woke up here..." Lu Jingren quickly supplied. He seemed to be just as equally confused as her.
Lilian Mo subconsciously stepped away from him.
Lu Jingren noticed that but he didn't point out the obvious. He wasn't dense and he was able to tell what people thought of him by reading their actions or behavior.
His fiancee still doesn't like him.
He understood that after talking to the mist, her fiancee wasn't so simple afterall.
He faintly remembered the feeling of her hand on his cheek, the warmth that slowly transferred to his body and how his heart rate doubled without warning.
After feeling this way, he did not stop her when she pushed him away because if she did not let go, he would move away on his own.
While being pushed so roughly wasn't ideal, it was fine. Women were violent creatures so he was no longer surprised.
Lilian Mo's thoughts were not as simple as Lu Jingren's.
She was questioning why he was here, how he got here and why she also ended up inside her space. She remembered the pain and the cold.
The ice from before must have been caused by him.
She suddenly ran towards the direction of the spring water.
She saw that there were still some remains of ice which helped her to understand what had happened. When she heard silent footsteps behind her, she knew that Lu Jingren had followed her.
"Don't go near that thing. It's not safe." He suddenly said.
His warning caused some confusion.
Lilian Mo did not say anything. She searched around for an empty bottle and took it to the spring water to fill it but Lu Jingren held her hand, causing her to freeze. Her eyes zeroed on the hand that was holding her. It took a lot of self-control not to slap his hand away.
Lu Jingren shook his head, obviously not wanting her to go over.
"... I have done this many times before."
"I'll do it. It's too dangerous for you."
"..."
What part of 'I've done this many times before' did Lu Jingren did not understand? Lilian Mo didn't have time to reply. He took the empty bottle from her hand and crouched down, scooping water to fill the bottle.
When he was done, he handed it back to her.
"Let's not stay here. That water is too dangerous."
"..."
The only thing dangerous here is you.
Lilian Mo accepted the bottle, shook his hold off from her and walked away. She went to the fields and saw that a portion of the ground were weeded already.
She glanced back at Lu Jingren.
I don't have anything to do, his eyes were saying.
She also did not forget to notice how the strawberry bushes were foraged.
She glanced back at Lu Jingren again.
I was hungry, his eyes were saying.
Lilian Mo inhaled deeply. She told herself to calm down, that there was no use panicking right now.
The animals were fine as well and were those apple cores on the ground..?
Lilian Mo tried to stay calm.
She decided to head to the warehouse. The wires seemed to be fine. Some of the items had been arranged by her already so she did not notice anything different.
Except, for one thing.
Lilian Mo ran up and picked the camera she had used once.
The battery percentage was still at most 40%. She opened the gallery and saw the graveyard picture. In this life, she only had the guts to visit them once and she took a picture in the process.
She didn't visit again after that because Lilian Mo was aware that with the things she was planning on doing, they would be disappointed and so, she said goodbye one last time to the old Chen couple.
Lilian Mo placed it down and decided to check on the generator.
The manuals were stacked properly but she knew that they were moved since they weren't on their usual place.
She saw that some things in the generator had been changed.
She glanced at Lu Jingren.
"There was a loose screw. Also, I untangled some wires in the process."
She didn't question it. The things she learned were all taught by him in her previous life. Was the saying true? That the student can never best their teacher?
Lilian Mo wished that wasn't the case. She doesn't want to be inferior to Lu Jingren. She was afraid of him, of the past and the future.
She did not want to go through the same things she experienced in the past.
'No more,' Lilian Mo thought as she looked at Lu Jingren.
