Your Hands Are Shaking

Lilian Mo was cooking hotpot in the kitchen. In the end, because she was confused and did not know what to do, she decided that cooking something would make her more clearheaded.

However, she kept picking up the wrong ingredients. It was a good thing that the end result didn't look as bad. Otherwise, she would really mull over how so many ingredients were wasted just because she was overwhelmed by so many confusing thoughts.

Lilian Mo sat on a chair and across from her was Lu Jingren. He was also eating much like her.

He doesn't seem to have anything against the food she made. Lilian Mo couldn't help but watch this attentively. She knew him. He hated spicy foods and even if he forced himself to eat it, pretending it was fine, she would notice how he ate much slower than normal and how he would drink lots of water.

However, the Lu Jingren before her didn't seem to mind the spicy taste. In fact, Lilian Mo did not want to believe it because it seemed as though Lu Jingren likes spicy food from the way he was eating.

Before, she also made hot pot and said it was to thank his group as an excuse for taking care of the girls. She knew he hated spicy foods which were why she purposely choose hotpot.

She was petty that way and expected Lu Jingren to refuse.

However, he actually sat down calmly and ate the food she made. She suddenly wanted to try experimenting, to see whether he was truly the same person she knew of.

For some reason, she had the sudden feeling that this Lu Jingren was different. However, she also didn't want to be foolish.

Lilian Mo had never thought that she would sit down and share a meal with him again. This thought made her face pale slightly.

While there were happy memories, she could not get over the fear of being controlled, of her freedom being robbed by him.

She told herself that as long as she avoided him and distanced herself from him, she wouldn't be affected and would treat it as if seeing another acquaintance or stranger. However, Lilian Mo was feeling apprehensive just by being alone with him.

If this was a dream, she wanted to quickly wake up because this was even worse than a nightmare. The frozen spring water and the accidents she experienced outside were clues to what was happening but to think that Lu Jingren got into her space without her knowing...

How was it even possible? Was it because she made him drink the spring water?

Was it the water?

"Let's not stay here. That water is too dangerous."

Lu Jingren's words made Lilian Mo contemplate. She had never fully investigated the spring water because when she first drank from it, the knowledge of the space and its function appeared in her brain as if it was a long forgotten memory so Lilian Mo immediately thought that there were no other mysteries to be solved.

She was wrong.

Because Lu Jingren got into her space.

It was her fault.

Lilian Mo accepted the space and believed it was her own even though in her past life, she did not possess this power. But what if this was not the case?

She was drunk from the happiness of being able to live again that she arrogantly thought that the space was her own ability.

But what were its true origins?

Why did she suddenly possessed it in this life and not in the previous one?

Lilian Mo tried hard not to overthink because she didn't think that she would find answers anytime soon.

Instead, she thought of how she was going to deal with Lu Jingren's sudden appearance.

"Don't tell anyone about this place."

Lu Jingren's voice quickly caught Lilian Mo's attention.

"If people found out, your peaceful days would be over... And even I won't be able to protect you."

Lilian Mo dropped her chopsticks in an abrupt manner.

"I don't need anyone's protection."

Lu Jingren leaned his back on the chair. He placed his own chopsticks down and crossed his arms over his chest, tilting his head to look at the defensive look on her eyes.

"Lilian..." He said in a mellow voice. "What are you afraid of?"

"Afraid? What am I afraid of? I'm not afraid."

"Are you afraid of me?"

"No!" Lilian Mo was taken aback. She quickly realized how defensive she sounded.

Lu Jingren gazed down. "Your hands are shaking."

"..."

Lilian Mo placed her hands down under the table, clenching them together. They were indeed trembling.
