Necklace That Heals

The sinking ground halted, and the trees retreated. Green grass grew from the soil where I buried the snake, along with blooming brilliant purple flowers, the color similar to the color of the creature's eyes, and the pendant of my necklace.

My surroundings went silent while the mist covered us once again. The only sound that I could legibly hear is my deep breathing, together with someone's suppressed moans. I turn toward the direction of the being in pain, running toward it with haste.

"Oh my goodness, Rhys. Are you-" my voice trembled in panic upon seeing Rhys rolling on dirt, holding his arm, pulling his leg to his chest.

There isn't one but two deathly bites that Rhys obtained from trying to fight the creature off. Despite his unfortunate position, I could not help but slap him on his stomach out of my frustration.

He stares at me, bemused by my choice of expression, crying out, "why? What was that for?"
