Airborne Troopers?

On board a Republic a Venator, a certain clone trooper was spotted flying around. He was using the standard republic jump pack.

Although the jump pack didn't seem too large, he had been flying around for approximately 2 minutes or 120 seconds. That's when slowly the jump pack began to loose power. Seeing this, the clone ceased the jump pack and began falling down. He was 15 meters into the air and he was currently falling in a free fall.

Seeing that he would hit the ground head first he did a half flip turning his feet straight towards the ground.

As he reached 2 meters off the grown he restarted his Jumpack, it slowed him down increasingly. At 1 meters it was the same speed as when he first disengaged it, and half a meter later it slowed down to a survivable fall. Once he reached the ground he did a roll to relieve himself of the momentum. Which worked quite perfectly and he stood up, completely fine.

"Great work, Commander Dust. That was a full score on your test. You are now jumpack certified." A new voice said. Identifying the flyer.

It was a clone sergeant, more noticeably he had a normal jetpack on his back.

"Thank you, Trapper. Also thanks to your guidance, eh." I said with a smile.

"Sure, sure. We both know it's because you stay up late watching guidance videos. Nobody else would manage to pass this shot within 2 months and only receiving 4 lessons from me. Meanwhile you have been taking Naval Course and personal training." He said with a sigh.

"Eh, you know I sacrificed a lot of work and socialising for that." I said with a smile, my helmet was off.

"That's bullshit, you've been more social than ever. The only thing you sacrificed was sleep..." Trapper said in a sly tone.

"Yeah, yeah. Well you still helped anyways." I said as my comms began beeping.

"Hold up." I said as I pressed it down.

"Commander Dust. Your presence is required at the bridge. Bring Sergeant Trapper with you too." The sound of Marshal Commander Wolffe rang out.

"Yes, Sir." I said as I took my hand away from it.

"Ya heard him Trapper. It's time for you to meet the Alpha Wolf." I said while chuckling.

He began laughing like crazy. However he continued walking.

Soon enough we reached the bridge.

"Stay serious, Wolffe doesn't really like fun." I said and he straightened up and got the laughter out of his system.

After he got himself suited I entered with my helmet under my arm while he kept his on.

"Senior Commander Dusk, reporting as ordered, sir!" I said saluting Wolffe, Plo Koon and suprisingly Mace who was on the HoloTable. Usually I would do a simple report but since he as here I overdid it.

"Sergeant Major Trapper, reporting as ordered, sir!" I heard from behind me. Trapper followed my initiative, great.

"At-ease, soliders." Plo Koon said. We both took our hands down from the salute position and placed them on our back.

"We first wanted to ask about your progress in learning to use Jetpack?" Plo Koon asked.

"I didn't know you were proxy to that. Either way it's going quite well, I just passed the final test today." I said with a smile.

"That's quite the feat, Senior Commander. Especially due to your socialism and naval training." Shockingly Mace Windu said, coming with the rare compliment.

"Thank you, Master Windu." I said with a slight bow.

"What do you think of his accomplishments and feats, sergeant?" Plo Koon asked Trapper.

"General! I believe that Dust has irrefutable talent in using a Jetpack and he could easily become our best." Trapper said not failing to compliment his Commander.

"That's good, very good." Plo Koon said while stroking his chin.

"Commander Dust, you and your legion is going to be the subjects for a new warfare type. After you began training with your jump pack, Plo Koon here thought of a way to utilise that skill, and we may have found a way that can give us an edge. It has long been utilised before but not on this scale, only small squads." Mace Windu said.

Windu then looked at Wolffe nodding for him to proceed.

"You will be assigned an extra battalion and a Venator. They are made out of veteran soliders who lost their battalion and ARF Troopers. You will be known as the 1st Airborne Battalion. It will be led by you, Trapper there will be promoted to Major." He then went to the HoloTable and showed us a prototype of the armor.

"This is the Paratroper or Airborne armor. The Helmet is made to relieve physical brunt force during landing. It also has an advanced squad proximity detection system, long range comms, HUD System and Heat detectors. JT-12 Jetpack with an additional rocket. The armor is sturdier and can withstand multiple shots. And lastly you have wrist control bracers. You will also be equipped with more expensive bombs, grenades and weapons." Wolffe said as he closed opened a new photo. This was for our specific unit.

"You will be equipped with gray markings, a useful camouflage in some situations as well as something to make you stand out. It also symbolises your name as "Dust" which is gray. Each of your troopers will be situated with a Kama, a bag for long travels, extra heavy and penetrating ammo." Wolffe said as he continued onto our Venator.

"Lastly your Venator. Your Venator will be specially customised. It will be outfitted with increased food space for long travels, weapons, ammo and inventory placements. We will replace some of the personnel spaces for increased Starfighters and veichles. A total of 60 LAAT/i's, 20 LAAT/c ( tanks ), 192 V-19 Torrent Starfighters, 36 ARC-170 Starfighters, 40 BTL-B Y-wing Starfighters and lastly 5 CR90 Corvettes for supplies." Wolffe said as he closed the HoloTable.

"Although we don't have it yet as it's still being designed, you will receive more equipment for behind the enemy lines actions. Such as temporary based, radars, etc." Windu said this time.

"Now Commander, we need one last thing. We need to design your armor. We want you to stand out amongst your men. Therefore we are ready to spend huge amounts of funds to assist you." Plo Koon said with a smile as he led me towards the HoloTable. Where a armor selection page showed up, similar to a Character creation one. With helmets, visors, kamas, Pauldrons etc.

And I began selecting.

I chose to get a Wolf marking on my chest, I also got a similar Pauldrons to ARC Troopers with the extra ammunition holder connected to it. I got grey markings all along my arms and bracers. I chose an extra fibercord on my left vambracer, it had an extra shock feature and a comms. I chose a black Kama, white DC-17 Holders, and extra bags connected to my belt. For my helmet I got a Phase 1 helmet, but with all the extra stuff the Airborne Troopers got. Sure it would be hard due to its smaller size, but the Airborne helmet is mainly for physical brunt trauma. I got a white visor, a range finder, and lastly a infrared light that could work as normal light. ( photo in comments )

"Looks good. We'll get yours and the rest of the battalions armor within 2 months. The Clone Troopers will be here within the hour. They were notified from Kamino 4 days ago. The Venator will come in 2 months as well." Plo Koon said.

"Oh, I almost forgot. Your Battalion will receive a new padawan addition. Elena Vex, she is a Mirialan and she will apprentice with Plo Koon. She come from a desolate planet and their species has a natural agility and jumping ability. With Jedi Training she will be a perfect addition to your unit. She will act as the Jedi Commander for the battalion, not the legion. Which will still be Plo Koon, and you do outrank her." Mace Windu said.

Yes! This was great news. Even if it was a simple Padawan, they could still block laser, which means she can be a meat shield. Well I'm not that evil. I think at least.

"Thank you, Commander, Generals. I promise I won't disappoint you and make the investment return 10x!" I said with dedication and respect. This was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. The Airborne Unit had great potential. Throughout the Clone Wars the republic focused on outmanuvering the battle droids. The 501st used jet packs multiple times.

And with that me and Trapper turned around and left.

"Holy shit." Trapper said as the door closed behind us.

"Holy shit indeed. But this is great. You jumped like 15 ranks and I've found a breakthrough to reaching Marshal Commander and perhaps even higher. It would take years for me to get it before, now I could get it within the year." I said with excitement.

"Well, let's go tell the guys, eh?" Trapper said as we began walking towards the cantina. It was about dinner time now.

Once we arrived at the cantina I saw the 5 guys from the Cantina fight. I joined them at the table. They were called Nester, Silk, Viking, Lony and Dax.

"Hello, how are you all doing?" I asked as me and Trapper sat down.

"We're doing great! Dax here even got promoted to Corporal." The ever energetic Viking said, he truly fitted the usual Norseman Viking. Large structure, broad shoulders, like close combat. He uses a DC15S and a single DC17 Pistol. He also has a machete.

"Congratulations Dax." Trapper said as he patted him on the shoulder.

"Oh well. I'll get straight to it. We're getting a new battalion. Named the 1st Airborne Battalion. They will be a specialised air unit. And I am suggesting that you join it. Trapper here will train you in Aerial combat and you'll be a elite unit within the battalion." I said as I looked at each of them.

"Not only will you be trained in aerial combat you'll each get your own specialisations. Nester will be taught cyber penetration, hacking. Silk will specialise in long-range fighting, Viking in close combat, you'll get extremely heavy and dense armor, Lony will be taught infiltration and lastly Dax will be taught tracking and hunting." I said. I basically wanted to create my own mini Bad-batch, or Clone force 99.

Season 7, The Bad Batch and The Clone Commando taught me the effectiveness of this formation. Especially since we're gonna be behind enemy lines a lot. Just getting a unit half the skill of the Bad Batch will be an extremely large boost.

"I'm down." Dax said.

"Sturdier armor sounds nice, eh!" Viking said.

"Cyber seems interesting." Nester said.

"Always good to learn something new." Silk said.

"I do like doing solo-missions." Lony said.

"Great, Trapper begin their training. I'll begin creating structure and formations for our new unit." I said as I stood up and left. We were now at Ord Mantell and we were just waiting for the remainder of the army.
