Chapter 28 – Training Droid

The next morning, while Lyn was still sleeping in her bed like everyone else, Layan was already up and started to build a droid to help with Lyn's training.

He bought two MagnaGuards, one to be disassemble and served as a base to build the droid he just started building, and the other would serve as a training droid for her to be used to fight against MagnaGuards as they may have to fight them in the future as their path will surely cross with the separatists.

This idea didn't come from him, when he was a thief, he stumbled upon the schematics data of a droid built by Darth Vader called Proxy and used as a training droid for Galen Marek apprenticeship.

Vader maybe a monster, a mass murderer but he knew how to build droids, Proxy could reproduce every fighting style he had data of, except those impeded by his build, for example, he couldn't fight like Yoda as their build and agility was far too different.

The MagnaGuard lay on the worktable totally disassembled, not far away were the crates filled with spare pieces and a few droids he retrieved from the planet surface, all of them were irreparable but a few pieces were really interesting to further improve the performance of his future creation.

What he wanted were the more flexible and lighter limbs as those of the MagnaGuards were heavier and hence slower which would be a problem when imitating a fighting style like the Form IV Ataru used by several masters like Yoda or Qui-Gon Jinn.

He also wanted to add a jetpack to the droid to imitate fighting styles like those of Cad Bane or Jango and Boba Fett as even if they were not Jedis, they could hold their ground without problems. It would be beneficial for her if Lyn knew how to react against this type of opponent.

Lastly, he took out a shield generator from a droid sentinel yesterday, it would not be use in Lyn training but in case of need this droid would prove to be a powerful ally, but one flaw would be left exposed, the Siths and a few Jedis able to use the Mechu-Deru skill, and the shield wouldn't be able to resist at the impact of a rocket.

Finally, the droid was completed and looked a bit like the original Proxy built by Vader but the original separatist droid use as a base show itself as the face was left untouched. Overall, it was thinner, except for a bulkier torso where was installed a holographic device able to cover all the droid body and change its appearance.

"Not bad, but I'll paint it to give it a bit of style."

The droid was finally painted in black and white. The head was white with red eyes, and colors were alternating with each piece starting from the head. Hence, the torso was black with a red core, then the legs were white and the knees were black ending with white foots. The same thing was done to the arms and hands.

The door to the main hold opened. He turned his head as Lyn was looking at the corner where he was working on the droid.

"Master, everyone is waiting for you. You were inside even before I woke up. It is about time for you to eat."

Layan looked at her strangely as she seemed a bit tired and answered her.

"What time is it?"

"Master, you've been inside for I don't know how long, we are in the middle of afternoon and its time for you teach the lightsaber wielding lessons."

Layan was a bit surprised, but he couldn't say he wasn't used to it, it was a bad habit he had to lose all sense of time when he was enjoying himself when working on droids or ships.

Yesterday, everyone worked to start building the settlement, but now that the cleanings of the site was done almost entirely, they choose to divide the population of 200 into two groups, which would alternate each day between work on lessons until the settlements were built which shouldn't take more than 2 weeks with all the droids or even less time if Layan activate and reprogram all the sentinel droids he found yesterday.

"I'll come, what a bother. Now I know why jedis took only one padawan at a time."

"What a dedicated teacher, I hope you'll find some time for me next month when the training just between us must start."

Taking note of her laughing tone, he sighs, this girl was a bit lively too much for him.

"I was building a droid to help during your training and able to reproduce the fighting style every Jedis and Siths, but if you wish I can change it into a simple chef droid."

When he said that, she turned around with a surprised expression as he indeed talked about such a droid in the past but she didn't believe he would be built in such a short time.

"It was just a joke. You didn't believe it ahhah."

Her tone was extremely forced, and she was such a bad liar that it was hurting him to watch her ridicule acting skills.

"You're such a bad liar and did you forget that with the force I can sense if you tell the truth or not. But it was a good thing, it gave me the idea to train your acting skills otherwise we may problems in the future."

He knew was just faking it, but giving her a good scare was always so funny that it gave him the idea of scamming her a little.

"No!! Not another course, I'm already dead tired at the end of each day between trainings and helping at the building the settlement."

"You're lying again lazy bum, if what you said were true then you wouldn't survive next month when I will train you personally. It would be a waste to kill my apprentices out of exhaustion."

With exaggeration in his voice, Layan started to laugh at her face as she was talking about tiredness even though she was almost late to every training session in the morning.

"Every time you talk about your training, you talk about beating me black and blue and how it will be hell for me. I'm not sure if I want to train under your guidance."

Following the mood, she starts to show him puppy eyes while they were walking toward Ood Bnar location.

"Stop it, you'll make me cry. What a tyrant I am to scare such a delicate little girl."

"Perfectly right, I'm such a delicate girl, like a princess who to bear with such a tyrant abuse on daily basis."

"You know the only princesses I know of have the bad habits to put their lives in danger on daily basis, so for a good argument, you'll have to try again."

He laughed at her words when thinking to the stories of Shaak Ti about Padmé Amidala, or the famous figure of the Rebel Alliance, Princess Leia Organa.

"You always have an answer, do you?"

Lyn resumed their banter but Layan didn't continue as they finally reached their destination and was looking at something which surprised him. Vima was teaching them how to use a lightsaber, they were still studying Schii-Cho and Vima was approaching them one by one helping of her cane to walk and correct their defects and giving them advises.

"What kind of magic trick did you pull out of your sleeves?"

Coming near Ood, he asked the old Neti as the spectacle taking place in front of his eyes was astonishing.

"I did nothing. When I started their training the same way I did before using dust to create an image, Vima saw them training and started to teach them. Maybe seeing them training brought back memories, but in every case, it will be beneficial for her to focus and something and not think to her sorrowful past constantly."

Layan didn't take the leading position to teach them and watch as the crone was moving slowly from one student to another and taught them what she knew. Slowly, each one of them was correcting their defects under the teachings of the crone even though it stays extremely sluggish and far from the fluidity of a master.

After a few hours, the lesson ended, and the crone came near them and sat in a chair created by Ood using his roots.

"Good to see that your situation is improving and that the idea of teaching a new generation of Jedis seems to please you."

Vima said nothing and only closed her eyes seated in her chair.

He didn't know her particularly well, but it seem that her reaction had a deeper meaning than just scoffing at him because of what he said previously about her mental health.

Layan said nothing he didn't know if Ood told her the truth about their plans for the future of the actual Jedi Order. She may have grudges with the order, he wasn't sure he didn't know every details of the story but Vima was alone when she wanted to rescue her daughter, but it didn't mean that she wanted its destruction.

He would have to take care of it later.
