Chapter 22 – Training Start

Layan had the idea to build a droid similar to Proxy, the droid Vader built for Starkiller since he met Lyn. That's why he bought 2 MagnaGuards, one of them will become the mainframe of this new droid, and the other one will be used as a training to fight against MagnaGuards as it is Grievous favorite toys.

After a good night's sleep, morning come as the two suns, Adega Prime and Adega Besh rose into the sky. Everyone started to get up from bed, not only the Ysannas that were used to wake up with the sunrise, but Lyn also woke up.

"You're awake? I lost a good opportunity to have some fun."

Layan was already up and was looking at the girl that just opened her eyes and was putting her jacket and boots on.

"Not a chance! I was waiting for so long."

After they headed for Master Ood where almost everyone was sitting all around him. Lyn joined the crown while Layan walked beside the Neti.

"All of you are force-sensitives, but your knowledge and wisdom were lost through generations and became a superstition. Your training will start with meditation to make you understand further your connection to the force. After this, I will teach you the most basic ability with the force. In the other half of the day, your training in lightsaber-wielding will begin."

Layan started to explain the schedule while Ood simply nodded.

All of them sat cross-legged on the rocky ground and closed their eyes and listened to Layan words to help them reach a meditative state. The sight was pretty impressive, 200 individuals sitting around him and focusing only on his words.

"The Force is an energy present everywhere. In the ground, in the air, in the water, in everything. The force is linking everything, even time itself. Your goal is to feel the force inside you, around you and to use your mind to use it. Don't be impatient, empty your mind, be at what you do now, not what you want to achieve. Focus your mind and try to feel the force around you, inside you."

Lyn succeeded without a hitch as already told her weeks ago, and ever since she meditated every day and learned the telekinesis and the Force Push and Pull. The Ysannas had slight difficulty as their uses of the Force became vastly different after all this time of regression.

The most gifted were able to enter a meditative state after a dozen minutes. Others who still didn't succeed opened their eyes and started to look around them, but closed them again and retry after they saw only a handful were like them looking around.

A few minutes later, everyone was in a meditative state. Ood and Layan used the force to bring rocks in front of each one of them.

"Now that you feel the force, you will try to use it to pile up these rocks. Focus only on the force, size or weight has no matter, only the force matter."

Ood continue the explications, he knew that Layan receives a good formation from a prestigious master so he could handle the basic teachings alone, but he wanted his new disciples to learn to listen to him as in one month Layan will report his focus almost only on Lyn.

In a few minutes, the most receptive succeed at piling up their stone, so Layan made them deconstruct it and do it again while waiting for the others who still didn't succeed to finish.

When everyone did it, Layan pointed to a place full of piles of rock farther away and executed a force push that blasted a pile of rock away.

"All of you will try to do the same thing, you have developed a similar ability, but it is flawed and imperfect, I want you to reproduce the same thing. The best of you may reach this level with a bit of effort."

He executed another Force Push but far more powerful that shattered the stones into dust.

"Imagine a telekinetic impulse via the Force, launching a concussive burst of pressurized air akin to an explosive force. This ability can be used to destabilize, shove away an enemy or even shatter things. Now, go on and try."

Master Ood explained after Layan's second demonstration.

Rocks weren't lacking here, so everyone rises on their feet and positioned themselves in front of the target they chose. For the moment, it was just a revising session, that's why she was waiting for this afternoon for her first lesson in lightsaber-wielding.

The lesson continued, and a few succeeded but their impulse was weak and only shook the stone, far from blasting them away. An hour later, all of them succeeded and those with better results were able to blast a few stones in the air.

After this came the lesson of Force Pull which played out like previously, their basic use of the force helped them understand faster and learned a few basic skills in the morning but they were still far from mastery.

In the afternoon began the lesson of lightsaber training. Layan would have liked to train them using Marksman training remote, but he didn't have enough for all of them, using this method they would have been able to train in lightsaber combat and feel the surrounding force.

Instead, he chose to teach them Form 1: Schii-Cho, the most basic form of lightsaber-wielding and the first thing taught to youngling's at the Jedi Temple.

"Form 1, Shii-Cho, The Way of the Sarlacc, or The Determination Form, is the first of the seven forms of lightsaber combat. This combat form was developed when the Jedi changed from using metal blades to actual lightsabers. Shii-Cho establishes the basic motions and target zones utilized with a lightsaber.

In the hands of a master, Shii-Cho is fluid but highly randomized and unpredictable. Kit Fisto is a highly proficient current master of such a style."

While Layan was talking about Form 1, Ood used the force to take the stone dust and shape it in a humanoid form and start depicting each move of the Schii-Cho. When he saw it, he got a smile on his face.

"Impressive usage of telekinesis."

After this, he resumed his lesson.

"Shii-Cho exists in 2 forms, the ideal form and the live combat form. Ideal-Form is used in sparring, and all the moves are executed at perfect horizontal/vertical angles, with attacks and parries being perpendicular to one another. The Live Combat Form is much more functional, the attacks being diagonal strikes at each respective body zone, the goal being to increase speed and reduce actual movement.

Now, all of you, memorize the moves Master Ood is showing you and try to reproduce it. Six areas are to be targeted when using this style: head, right arm, left arm and side, back, right leg, and left leg."

All of them lit their lightsaber and started to copy the movements. The demonstration was going slow, the students even slower and their movements were sluggish, but all of them had either a focused or joyful expression on their faces.

Layan was looking at it with a smile, all of them were swinging their blades with almost no-synchronization but it was impressive to all these different-colored lightsabers being swung.

"What do you think about them?"

He asked Master Ood as he hadn't any experience in training apprentices and could only compare them to himself while studying under his master.

"Promising. The fact that they already had some experience with the force, even though sluggish helped them to get the feeling to use the force more easily. I'll organize them by groups later, like the clans your master spoked of, it will fasten their training and give them a goal to accomplish. Friendly competition has always been good motivation."

They continued to watch as the recruits of the New Jedi Order were training in form 1. Layan informed Ood of the few things he thought of and Ood gave some of his ideas.

"I saw a few old probe droids lying around and collected them. I'll try to repair them before my departure and launch them around the planet to find what could be useful for us. I'll also launch one on Nerit to find if your brethren have survived."

There was so much left on Ossus surface that without these droids traveling around without stop that it would take months if not years to sort out what could prove to be useful without it.

"That's good. Once you'll bring back the droids and seeds, we'll finally be able to start to build our community and restore Ossus. I have already plans in mind for the buildings. I'd also like to expand the library."

"Why? the knowledge was lost or evacuated in the emergency. We don't need more space."

Layan wasn't against but didn't understand what was the utility to expand the library.

"I just thought that if Ossus stayed as it was for millenniums, then I know a few places where we could obtain others relics of the past."

Ood's answer gave a big smile to Layan, the more powerful this group becomes, the higher his chances are to destroy the Empire.

"I like to hear you talk this way."

With Ood knowledge of the past, then other opportunities may await them.
