Fate brings old lovers together to solve their own criminal cases.
"She failed to catch him again..." Dohyuk reveals to his senior, but this news wasn't something pristine for them anymore. It's the same old news they always hear every time she goes after the Fox.
The sad information just keeps disappointing them each time they hear it, but they themselves also know that this case isn't facile to handle, pushing them with an idea. "Let's just give it to someone else."
Dohyuk immediately opposes this suggestion. "We can't just do that. Yeomji has been working on this case for almost a year and you know it's difficult..." but it seems like Taebin has already decided beforehand telling him.
"Yes, it's not. That's why she needs a partner, but she kept rejecting everyone we gave her. What would she do if Detective Kim wasn't there?" both of them knew Yeomji prefers being the lone wolf than being talked about behind her back, yet this also comes with disadvantages in her work.
Before they could even conclude their private talk, someone barged inside Taebin's office. "I'll get up and run to catch Ruby and his little friend again..." just by her voice, the two superiors already knew was it without looking at her.
"Little Friend?" The news gives sparks curiosity in Dohyuk. His attention immediately shifts to her, asking for more details on her statement. "I saw someone last night. He was the one who threw the grenade..."
Completely ignoring the new piece of information she had on the table. "Detective Choi, I'm gonna ask you to step out of this case and pass it to someone else peacefully."
Her head shot up to Taebin, questioning everything she has just heard from him. "I refuse..." however, it seems like he not taking no as an answer since it's not a question but a demand as a senior.
"If you wanna keep doing it, you'll need help. A partner or a team? For years, we let you work independently because of your family." Taebin gives her a last offer just for her to keep the case, but also giving a few insults that for sure offended her.
"Right, my family again..." she bitterly agrees while glaring at the two tall men in front of her. She knows that he purposely mentions them even though they both know that doesn't like when her family suddenly gets mentioned in topics of her job just to push her buttons.
This is the reason she would rather be a loner than working with someone. All this libel she gets just because of being known as being from a well-famous political family.
Yeomji hates it, but she herself also knows that there's a portion that is true. Her family's status some way helped her on landing a job immediately in a big district with no difficulties.
"As you mentioned earlier, The Fox has a little helper. You can't catch a psychopath and his sidekick alone. You'll need help." Pushing all her pride away picks the last deal. "Who would help me?" She asks.
Taebin looks at Dohyuk before asking. "Hyuk, which division is currently free and needs a new member?" After a minute of thought, he delivers an answer. "Division 6 has just finished a case and has a free slot..."
"Perfect!" Taebin exclaimed, but it seems like Yeomji doesn't agree with this. "What perfect? No!" However, Dohyuk just saw this as her classic instinct so helps to convince her a bit. " Come on Yeom! Lieutenant Yoon is there. I heard you were old classmates."
Yet she was far from being convinced. "That was years ago." She rebuts. "Years ago? Meaning not university?" Taebin curiously asks. "High school..." Yeomji mumbles under her breath, but it was still audible for the two guys to hear.
"It'll be a perfect reunion for both of you and you can keep the case..."

Later that night, Yeomji visits her favorite cafe or, more like her best friend for the news, she has to spill. "Yoon Doha from high school?" Nari asks her again, gaining a sigh of annoyance from the other. "Yes Nari, how many times do you want me to repeat?"
She was expecting emotional support from her and the same reaction as her, but maybe not today. "Then this is a perfect chance for you two..." Yeomji quickly took aback after hearing what her friend said.
" Choi Yeomji, did you seriously forget about your roots? Did you forget about how you used to have a big crush on him? You used to follow him around like his little shadow before it changed the other way around..." Her eyes widened after finally recalling a few bits and pieces of her past immature self.
"This is a great opportunity for both of you, so seize it..." Nari suggests, but Yeomji has something else currently on her mind. "Oh, shut up! That was years ago. I'll work with him and his team just to get the Fox and that's it."
But knowing her friend, it did not convince Nari at all. "Are you sure?" She asks her again to mess with her a bit, but it seems like she's pretty decided this time. "Yes! Plus, he's nothing like the guy from high school we knew. His confidence is always over the top and annoying."

As much as she hates to be in a team, Yeomji didn't have other choices than being in one. Taking a last deep breath before pushing the door open, revealing the people she has to be with for the rest time of the case.
Soon as the eyes met hers, they all looked at her in shock, not expecting that the new member that was supposed to be a rookie turns out the 'Lone wolf' of the district, Choi Yeomji.
"Hello, I'm Choi Yeomji, and starting today, I'll be part of your team. I hope we all get along." She might not like the idea of working with a team, but this doesn't mean she needs to be rude to them. Yeomji gave them a respectful, nice first introduction, mirroring her past self when she was only a rookie cop.
Her eyes slowly scan the room for reaction, but unlike how she expected none of them to show any hate or disgust to her. "It's an honor to work with you on the same team. I'm a big fan of yours." Yohan reaches for her hand and shakes them.
" Me too. I'm Jaehyuk by the way..." Yeomji confusedly watches the guys warmly welcome her, a feeling she never once felt since she started doing this job. But soon cut the warmness short when she heard a familiar voice ringing in her ears.
"I see you already met them..." The voice that used to be sweet a song in her ears just annoys her now. "Doha, you're here! Meet our new member." One guy tries to introduce her, but it seems like he's not really surprised by it.
"Oh! I don't need to meet Detective Choi. I already know that she's coming." Doha states. This plants confusion in Yeomji's head that soonly grew into a question. "And how is that?" She interrogates.
"Because I was the one who asked Chief Kim to send you here..."
