"You go that way, I'll go this..." without waiting for a response she started running as fast as she can to catch the same man but on a different night. Her life has been now centered on this guy who she barely has pieces of information about other than being a maniac murderer.
It's been months, and a psychopath killer going around the city and killing innocent people left and right like he really has nothing better to do in his life except be sadistic. She has one job, and that is to put that man behind the bars and rot there till his last breath. However, it's easier said than done.
This case is difficult to figure out and no matter how much evidence she gathers, it's still challenging to make sense of his motives or pattern. It seems like she's constantly hitting a dead end every time and not accomplishing anything.
The more she gets close to the truth, the more she still somehow misses the opportunity. Yeomji feels like an avatar in a game that he created, where he's the only one who has the upper hand on everything in this case.
"Fox!" Yeomji calls for him, using the alias that the public gave him. It derived from the mask he always used to hide his identity from everyone, especially her. This name quickly got his attention and also got on his nerves.
She slowly walks towards him and tries to corner him alone in the dark alley, which he finds bold of her. No one in the world will try to be solus with a complete sicko.
But Yeomji would be lying if she wasn't a little preoccupied with her current situation. She already witnessed this guy's aptitude. He's not normal.
Swallowing all those fears in her, there's no way of backing out now when she finally has cornered him. "There's no way out now..." A sly smirk masks all her doubts and is plastered on her face.
However, he could smell her anxiety from afar. "Really? You think you beat me?" He still feels being the upper hand over her, no matter how hard she tries to catch him or trap him.
" It's a dead end. Just surrender. We might reduce some few days your punishment." Her being realistic about the situation gains her a boost of confidence for a moment.
Somehow, this affirmation didn't budge him a bit. There's a still big ego in him and a belief that he won't go down easily like this by her. "You're really dumb, aren't you?"
All of Yeomji's approaches and attacks on him just seem to be ineffective. She was supposed to be the one cornering him, but it seems it's the other way around.
She looked into his eyes, looking for possible answers. However, they're both just empty like his heart, with no way to decipher his intentions inside. He's a blank book. There's nothing to read and see other than blood in it.
A rush of empathy came in for a moment before all the crime scenes came back, knocking in her brain, and pushing her to walk towards him more daring than ever. " It's game over..."
A few steps before reaching him, a tremendous explosion behind her pushed her down to the ground by the impact and probably a few scratches and bruises, but the man in front of her remained unbothered by it.
His black, empty eyes are now red, mirroring all the fiery flames up ahead of them. Yeomji weakly pulls herself up and only notices that he was looking at something or someone behind the fire.
She picks her body up and looked behind her, immediately spotting a dark silhouette behind the flames and a pair of familiar gazes. Another enemy? she asks herself. But why do they seem familiar? Yeomji became more curious about the new person in sight.
"See you around Officer Choi..." All her thoughts shift back to her major enemy, the reason she's now almost laying flat on the ground. He nonchalantly walks away with a smirk curve on his lips, a sign of his victory once again, before one of her comrades arrives, and rushes to help her up.
Yeomji has once again lost him without being able to do anything else than lay on the ground pathetically. It's another defeat night and the same old news to share back to the district.
After successfully getting up with someone's help, she looks at the silhouette again, meeting those gazes once more. He was still there, looking at her straight in the eyes coldly, sending goosebumps down her spine.
She's completely lost in the familiarity that those black orbs give her. All the mixed and jumbled-up emotions rushed in her veins like a rush of both adrenaline and love. "Fox..." "We'll get him..." Her colleague tries to assure her, completely inattentive to where she is actually looking.
"He was with someone..." she reveals as she breaks the eye contact with the unknown and finally looks at Wooseok in front of her. "Someone? He works with someone?" He queries.
Before Wooseok even receives an answer from her, he completely lost her again. She turned to the flames again to look for them, but as she expected, they were gone. However, his presence and gaze still linger around her like the blaze in front.
The familiar gaze didn't only bring her familiarity but also warmth, a fire that ignited inside her. The unknown past has returned to claim their memories back and tied the loose red strings they cut.

"Why did you throw a grenade?" He asks while he yanks away the mask that was almost suffocating him the whole time. But his brother remained unbothered by it and kept his eyes on the road and drive.
"I had to do something somewhat to get you out there at all costs..." He calmly confessed, which ultimately bothered the other guy in the car. "You could've-" He tried to suggest something in options, but immediately got coldly turned down.
"Don't say anything. It's done now."
