Rise of Flare

NB: I'm no longer working on this story for now, after seeing the flaws that it has and I'm currently working on a new one. Fang always knew he was different from others. His involuntary use of fire always got him into several problems in the past. However even he never expected himself to be the hybrid of a dragon race protecting humanity from the shadows. Ever since he was expelled he thought he had no future for himself. Little did he know this incident would lead him from being unable to start a single spark to becoming leader of all dragon kind. .

Chapter 12 Battle of the Luna River (1)

Sorry about the early chapter release, I set it on the wrong due date LOL

A few hours later.

A strong wind gushed through the town of the Hydrocrystal clan filled with several Japanese, Korean and Chinese inspired buildings.

Once the gust had passed four people stood in the place where the dust devil had subsided. Neo who was first skeptical of the Serpentines had also been shown Void's memory which proved what she said to be true.

Even now he found it hard to think that the All Dragon who was portrayed as all good actually had a dark side. Why did his children never talk about it when recording their history,

were they trying to keep his dark side secret? At least now it explained where Pyronova had gotten his evil nature from.

They were able to enter the town with ease since Hydrax, a daughter of elite parents, was with them. While walking Neo took this chance to witness the kimono styled clothing most of the elders wore while the rest of the younger generation such as Hydrax wore contemporary clothing.

Once they reached the dojo-esque house where Tytira and Basil resided both had mixed feelings once they saw Hydrax and Nyami were among them.

"Why are they here" asked Basil the father

"We're here to -" said Fang before being cut off by Basil

"I did not mean you Pyronova, I was talking to Nyami."

"Let me guess your daughter told you about me."

"Indeed , so tell me Nyami , what brings you here." asked Tytira, Hydrax's mother

"In a few hours time , a water dragon faction called the Serpentines is going to attack Raptilia's capital through this river."

"We need your clan's manpower to defeat or at least delay their invasion."

Both Tytira and Basil were intrigued and asked Nyami to share his memory with them to see if he was telling the truth.

He showed them all he could retrieve at that moment from Void falling in love with the All Dragon, to her finding out about the All Dragon's plan as well as her

rallying the Serpentines to defeat him , her defeat and attempt to kill Fang.

Once the memory was done, Hydrax's parents knew they had to prepare to defend the capital.

"Good job Nyami" said Basil "If you didn't reject the chance to join the council you would have made a good ruler.

"I had my own responsibilities on Earth, that's why I rejected it."

The parents immediately had a speech to the rest of their neighbours to get ready for the upcoming battle. Their trusted general also arrived with a map showing the Luna river's path to the capital.

On the map was the river flowing through the continent until it made a sharp crescent curve near the Hydrocrystal town hence its name Luna until it spilled into the Astral lake where the capital was located.

The general knew that instead of going to attack the enemy they should prepare for the attack. The general and Nyami decided they would prepare mines on the riverbed since the Serpentines didn't know how to teleport. Nyami would be the field commander overseeing the operation while Fang and his companions would be further north of the crescent curve.

Though they all wished to be on the frontline, all of them knew that the north would be the safest part until the front was breached. Hydrax wanted to take this chance to show her parents she was capable of carrying on her legacy. Fang thought he could try his best to make Void change her ways while Neo joined since he wanted to protect the world he loved more than the one he was born in.

They couldn't rely on help from the capital since they wouldn't believe their tale of the Serpentines plus they would not be interested in Nyami searching their minds.

The engineers proceeded to dive into the water with the deactivated mines tied around their chests. Bubbles emerged from their mouths as they swam deeper down to the bed with their ocean blue hair hanging above their heads.

Nyami remained vigilant as usual, scouring the river for any signs of the Serpentines. The longer the clan waited the more anxious they became for the upcoming attack , knowing if their lines of defense failed the unaware city would be invaded.

Little did they know the Serpentines were swimming several metres below them in a tunnel constantly expanding from exploding volts.

Void and all other Serpentines took part in expanding the tunnel except for Nightfall who was taking care of Void's son Pitch.

Even though he looked small and timid compared to the rest of his group he was still as powerful as her mother. Void looked at his pure innocent face one more time. He was the only good thing that came from her affair with the All Dragon.

"Did they really think we would expose ourselves crossing the river?" said Void with a laugh

"How foolish" answered Nightfall

"I should have known" gurgled Nyami

But before he could warn them Void scraped her claw against one of the rocky surfaces. An electric bolt was generated that set off all the mines up above.

Nyami was able to get out of the river in time but not everyone else was lucky.

Knowing they had lost the element of surprise, several Serpentines began to emerge from the riverbed and a battle raged between the survivors and the Serpentines.

The survivors soon morphed into dragon form and savagely began to swipe and bite at the Serpentines. Fighting to their last breath to protect the capital's citizens. Blood rised to the surface as the battle continued to drag on. Nyami was among them along with some reinforcements from the further north of the river.

Fang and his companions noticed the dragon's manpower on their side decreasing and followed them. They had no idea what gruesome terror awaited them.
