Seeing how most of them looked confused, Dan explained, "A second chance for you to complete your mission. For you all to return home."
Some of them had already thought they would never be able to return home, but Dan's words gave them hope, like a ray of light in complete darkness.

Only for him to crush it again with his following words.
"But now I don't think I should do that."
His words were ridiculous, like a sadist who only wanted to see their hopes crushed again like he just...
"Hey! Don't give me that look," Dan said after seeing them all give him a weird look. "I'm not a sadist who enjoys seeing you all in despair or misery."
"But I am a realistic guy who knows none of you will kill someone."
"So, you are taking away their chance to get home just because they wouldn't kill when you wanted them?" Zatanna asked with a look that literally said, 'Are you stupid?'
"In a nutshell, yeah, that's the reason," Dan replied without looking offended by her expression.
It was expected of them to behave that way. After all, he is asking them to kill other humans in return for a chance to get home.
This in itself doesn't sound so bad if you know about the chaotic situation of this world, but these are good guys from DC. They either don't kill, or they kill and kill until killed.
"But I am still willing to give you all a chance if you all promise not to hesitate in breaking your no-kill rule."
"I'm planning to become a bounty hunter, a job that requires killing and fighting dangerous targets."
"So, if you can't kill when needed because of something as stupid as laws in your previous world, then you better stay as you all are...as slaves."
The silence descends on the deck after Dan finishes speaking as they all begin to think about his words before it is broken by Robin and Kaldur as they both return with some goods.
"Why is everyone so quiet?" Robin asked while looking at his quiet, almost too quiet teammates.
But instead, Dan answered his question, "They all are still comprehending what they have to do to get a chance for them to return home."
"A way to return home? So what do you want us to do to get this chance?" Kaldur asked cautiously after some thinking.
"Nothing as difficult as you think," Dan replied, waving his arm in dismissal. "I just want you all to stop being a bitch and kill when necessary, and I will give you a chance to change your mission choice."
"I will even be nice about it and not order you all around like slaves, which you technically still will be, but I will be nice in general," Dan said with a shrug like he didn't care if they accepted it or not.
This was kind of true, as they already have to do everything he says, so this idea developed on the fly simply because RoB permitted him to change their mission choice only once.
'Which I still don't understand. Why did he do it?' He thought before looking at the reaction of others at being reminded of their status.
Before a thought came to his mind addressing the issue he was avoiding, 'Not even an hour has passed, and I'm enjoying this whole slave thing a bit too much for my liking.'
.
Meanwhile, others ignore his comment and focus on thinking about his offer.
'This guy is crazy if he thinks someone will take that offer.' Robin mocked, but to his astonishment, one of his teammates accepted the offer.
"I will accept it," Kaldur said while keeping a neutral look on his face, but inside, he was feeling like shit right now.
He is willing to break his king's teaching to not kill humans if there is another way. Still, if killing some pirates and wanted criminals will get him a chance to return to his kingdom and family, he will do it happily.
But his other team members did not share that sentiment as they all looked at him in disbelief.
"Dude, you can't be serious, right? We cannot kill other people just to get a chance to go back." Robin said while looking at his friend with incredulity.
But the surprise didn't end there as three more voices said the same thing.
"I also accept it," Artemis said while stepping forward with a determined look on her face.
"I...also accept," Wally said with a nervous and ashamed look on his face.
"I also accept," Conner said with a calm look on his face, but his reason was a bit different from others. 'I'm only doing this because I don't want to get ordered around like this.'
.
"Excellent choice...hahaha," Dan said with a calm look before laughter escaped his mouth, showing how funny this whole situation was for him.
"Sorry...hah...his face was...hah... too funny to not laugh," Dan said while pointing toward Robin, who was too shocked to even close his mouth after Wally's confirmation.
"So, no one else, huh?" Dan said after not seeing anyone else accepting his offer, and they looked determined not to accept it.
"Great, now you officially have no way home," Dan said with a chuckle at his own joke.
The rest of them simply looked at him with a neutral look before Zatanna asked the question that had occupied his mind since the start of this conversation in a nervous voice, "So, do I also have to follow this rule?"
"I mean, I also have to kill because you said so?"
"Why should you? Your only mission is to help me complete my goals, so even if you die because of the enemy you left alive, I have no problem with that. After all, it's your choice."
"But just a fair warning, if you die before the completion of my goal, then you will not return to your world," Dan said plainly before turning his gaze to the others.
"And now I think this conversation is over. You all get back to work, and Kaldur, in an hour, bring me the good you find on that ship."
After saying that, Dan returns to his room, leaving them all alone on the deck. He wants some alone time to sort out all that has happened in the span of the last few hours.
'And I need a strong drink for that.'
.
Meanwhile, the tension was rising on the deck as Dick, Barbara, and M'gnna looked at their teammates with betrayed looks.
"I think I should go now," Zatanna said before quickly leaving the deck, as she didn't want any part of it right now.
No one said or reacted to her withdrawal as if they were in her position. They would also do the same.
"I know what you want to ask Robin, and the answer is yes, it is real. We all felt the change when we accepted his offer." Kaldur said calmly like he was not feeling any pressure from their gazes.
"But you all could have waited and trusted the league and our mentors to find and rescue us. There was no need to take a step like that," Robin said, trying to reason with them.
But it was a feeble excuse, and he knew it, and Wally was more than happy to point it out.
"Dude, I don't want to be that guy, but that's bullshit, and you know it. We are most likely dealing with a being that plays at a multiverse level. The league can do nothing about it if they never find out we were gone, which is likely to happen as he promised to send us back at the same time."
"So, you are just going to kill some because it is your only choice?" Robin asked with a hardened gaze. However, that didn't change the fact that this sounded like a dumb question.
"First of all, yes, I will do it if it is the only way to meet my family again. Second of all, we are talking about criminals and pirates that kill and destroy towns in a world where the government is shadier than in our world, and killing is legal."
"So, I don't know about you, but I'm still following the rules of this world," Wally said with a resolute look on his face.
Meanwhile, when everyone was focused on their talk, slowly and silently, Barbara left the deck and moved inside the ship.
