Chapter Sixteen : Red

Edward's head was on my lap. His blood was all over the place, on my body. One last jerk and his body went on a hemorrhagic shock.

I was sitting there speechless. I was feeling dizzy. Ed was expiring right in front of my eyes. And I was completely incapable of doing anything to save him.

Ed held my hand strongly for one last time. And in front of my eyes, he was gone.

I lost my all controls. I growled so loud. My wolf was raging with my pains. It was in pain more than ever.

Claire was taken aback for a moment. The moon suddenly came out of the clouds. The surroundings were pretty clear in the bright moonlight.

Claire got afraid a bit by my appearance. I was shifting. My rage filled eyes were dark red, thirsty of blood.

She backed a few steps never changing the attacking position. After I completely shifted, she finally got her own control. She was brave indeed.

Claire shifted into her wolf form as well. She growled back. It didn't take too long for us to attack each other.

I jumped on her attacking. But she moved away dodging my attack. I was being controlled by my rage. My attacking moves were a bit scattered and out of control. But on the other side she was calm and composed.

I tried to rip off her throat but she dodged again and her claw ripped the skin of my back. I growled in pain subconsciously. No pain was greater than Edward's death. And at that moment I wanted nothing but revenge.

The fight continued, for how long I was completely unaware.

Claire was tough. My shifting was not perfect. Edward's death might have suppressed the pain of my physical injuries that I got due to my complete shifting but the damage was real. And I was not even being able to execute my moves perfectly.

The first ever complete shifting injured my body badly. I was having internal bleeding. I got exhausted quickly. And Claire took the chance. I was huffing, struggling for some oxygen almost in a hypoxic condition.

Claire suddenly attacked. She was over me. I was trying to avoid her bite in my neck. Her wolf was heavy. I was getting tired. Suddenly my eyes fell on the body of Edward that was lying quietly on the ground.

Tears were dropping from my eyes. With my everything I forced myself up and bit on Claire's neck. She was hurt and her attention diverted. She was struggling to get rid of my mouth. I used the chance. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and forced my claw through her ribcage. Grabbed her heart and crushed it in her mediastinum. Her pupil dilated. Blood came out of her mouth. She quickly shifted back to her human form automatically.

I ripped of her heart from inside. Her dead body fell on the ground. I shifted back as well. My whole body was injured. I didn't know how was my baby. I quickly kept my hand over my pelvic part. I felt a sensation. A sensation of life. I was relieved. My child was alive.

But my whole body was covered in blood. The place had turned into a sea of blood. The crushed viscera was still on my hand. I remembered the day when I killed the Sapphires in the wood for my omega friend's death.

It was red again in the woods. My dearest was lying on the ground, dead. It was impossible for me to carry Edward's body in my human form.

I needed to turn again. It could take away my life. But I was still in the north. And Zen could easily catch up to me anytime.

I was huffing again. I tried to shift but failed.

"Ella, stop," Lexa, my wolf called me inside.

"We have to get away from here, Lexa. I will not let anyone touch Edward," I said.

'' I know, Ella. But you can't turn now. You will die," Lexa warned me.

"I need to save my child and Edward's body, Lexa. Help me to shift," I ordered my wolf strongly.

"But Ella, if you force me into this, not only you will hurt yourself but also your child. You felt that too while fighting. You are still bleeding inside, Ella. I'm trying to heal as much as I can internally. But to be honest, this is like an illusion, Ella. It will just keep you strong in the outside for some time. But even I can't say how long you will be able to stay like this. In this condition if you turn again, you will die for sure," Lexa said.

"I have to take the risk. I have no other choice. If I stay here and wait they will come. They will not show mercy this time," I said.

I paused and looked at the corpse that lying near my feet covered in blood with a chest ripped open. "I killed his dearest after all."

Lexa only sighed. She knew she wouldn't be able to stop me. I was finally getting the control over her and my body.

"Lexa," I called her again.

"I will try my best not to harm you and your child, Ella," Lexa said.

"Lexa, we will not die together. Even if I die , you will be able to leave my body. That is how our body works. If you had died when Zen rejected me, I would have survived," I said.

"What are you implying, Ella?" Lexa asked.

"If I die while shifting, take my child, don't let it die. Save its life, Lexa. And take Edward's body with you. And bury him somewhere good," I said desperately.

"Don't speak like this, Ella. I won't let you die. Trust me," Lexa assured me.

I closed my eyes. And tried one last time.

I felt like I was going to have an eclampsia. My body was hurting so bad. But I managed to shift.

"You okay ?" My wolf asked me.

"Yes, run!" I ordered her in her mind.

Grabbing Edward's body in my mouth I started to run in my wolf form as fast as I could. It was midnight. A long way was ahead to cross.

I could feel a lot of wolves coming towards us. A new fight was coming.
