Chapter Fifteen : Into the woods - Part 2

"What do you want?" I asked coldly.

Claire only smirked. Her wicked smile was annoying me to the core.

"How did you get out of the pack house so early?" I asked again suspiciously.

It was barely a few hours since we left the pack. The war didn’t seem like it would come to an end so early. If they had already made the attack from inside of the pack house as per my plan, it would still need her an hour to catch up to my speed unless she followed me at the same time I left the pack. But there was no way that happened. I saw her entering the pack house. And there was no condition after that to come out from there.

"I really appreciate your strategy," Claire said.

She continued," That was cunning. Even though you saved the pack from the massacre, do you think the pack is stupid?"

She smirked. I was completely silent. Edward was standing behind me.

"You can fool the pack, fool Zen. But not me," she said.

"I don't think I have anything left to say to you," I replied. '' If you have the time to come here following me and having an unreasonable conversation, that proves the pack is alright."

"Where do you think you are running away?" she asked directly.

Her voice was cold. Her eyes were glowing.

Suddenly my instinct took a defensive position voluntarily. Before I could say anything more, Edward came in front of me.

"My wife is pregnant. Whatever you people wanted, you are not going to achieve that from her in this condition," Edward said.

"I am aware of that," Claire casually laughed a bit saying. "I mean who doesn’t know? Our alpha's sudden break down informed the whole pack within seconds," she said.

"Edward, let me deal this," I said. But Edward instead blocked me with his hand indicating me not to get involved.

"Then let us leave peacefully. Don't make any trouble, girl," Edward said calmly.

"Pftt- now do I have to take order from a mere human?" she asked sarcastically.

"I don't care if you are a wolf or an alpha. In front of me you are just a teenage girl. Way younger than me. In human culture, we don't raise our hands on women. But I can assure you, you are hell of an annoyance for such courtesy," Edward said.

Claire was taken aback for a moment by Edward's words. Clearly she was the strongest female wolf out there.

"Even replying to a mere human like you will be an insult," she said gritting her teeth. "Listen, Isabella. I know where you two are heading. You think you will survive out there?" she smirked again asking. " I trained in the south almost half of my life. You won't even make it on the other side of the border. That world is completely different. But anyway, you are not even going to make it to the border," saying so she shifted her hands.

"What do you want from us?'' I asked her.

" Your wolf, of course," she said.

"I can't give you that, " I said.

"I am not asking you, Ella," she said coldly. "I'm going to take it," she took a step closer.

But Edward was still standing in front of me not showing any sign of moving.

"The mystic spring is only a myth, Claire. The oracle doesn’t even know the exact place or time for that," I tried to convince her.

"I know that. I also don't believe those bullshits, " she replied looking directly into my eyes.

"Then why do you want my wolf?" I asked her confusedly.

"To obtain the never ending power," she said.

"My wolf will never accept your body, I can assure you, and it will harm my child. You can never get it, Claire," I said.

"You took away everything from me. My father died because of you. I had to comeback leaving my trainings unfinished because of you. My only asset was Zen. You even took him away from me. You are the reason he never mated with me. Even a nursery child could understand how stupid the idea of the mystic spring was. But he insisted on it. Just to bring you back," Claire said all at once. Gurge, grief were clear on her words.

She spitted and said, " You really love to play the protagonist, don't chu, Ella? What do you think? The whole world will circle around you and you will just keep rejecting? No, it is time, you are going to pay back, Ella. You are going to lose everything you don't deserve," she said.

"You don't have to do this, Claire. Listen to me, please. You have got this all wrong. Let us leave, Claire. I promise you I will never come back to your life. I have my own family, I have Edward. You don't need anything from me. You are already strong. Zen is yours. And he loves you. I have seen it in his eyes. Please go back to the pack. They need their luna," I said.

"Screw you, bitch," she chuckled and said. "You think your words are gonna make me feel better and change my mind? No. You have to die."

"Enough of your nonsense," Edward said.

"Ed, move," I said. "Let me do this. You can't fight her! "

Claire was already shifted in her wolf form. She licked her lips with her tongue. Looking at us viciously.

I was in my half shifted state. Edward was not moving.

"I won't let her hurt you, Ella," Edward said.

"But you can't fight her, Ed," I pleaded, "Please, move! "

Claire jumped on us. Edward was thrown by the force and hit a tree.

I was distracted worrying about him. Claire took the chance and pinned me down on the ground.

Her wolf was heavier and stronger. She almost choked me. I was suffocated and not being able to breath. I saw Edward from the corner of my eyes, lying down on the ground, bleeding. Almost unconscious.

Claire's wolf was still above me. Trying to bite my face off. My body was getting weaker struggling. Suddenly Claire let my throat go and growled. I saw Edward standing there behind her with a big stone in his hand that he used a few seconds ago to smash Claire's head.

Claire took a a few steps back in pain but not for too long. Next what she did was the biggest tragedy that could ever happen to my life

Angrily she came towards us to attack. I was still sitting on the ground struggling to got up. Her claw was about to pierce right through my heart. But I wasn’t the one who got injured.

Edward came in front of me to save me from the attack. Claire's claw was still inside Edward's chest. Blood came out from his mouth. She pulled her claw out. Edward fell on the ground, blood showered.

Ed was the only scream that escaped my mouth.
