Chapter 39 – You can do it

Taro's POV

"Guys, we're almost there!" I shouted while keeping on firing and reloading my pistol.

We poured our negative thoughts and emotions to channel and use the Negative Energy.

Kuro, Sha, and Saki are even more determined to eliminate the huge and deadly threat to their world, and so they keep on persevering while using Negative Energy-type magic and weaponry.

At last, 6 o'clock came, and they now defeated the Gashadokuros. As a result, they were dissolved into nothing thanks to that type of energy.

"We did it!" I celebrated in victory.

Kuro, Sha, and Saki, alongside Bokuto, shared a high-five with me.

"Man, we're such a team," Saki happily commented.

"Yeah, you're right," Kuro positively replied while holding his scythe.

Sha and Bokuto nodded in agreement.

We then looked around, seeing the casualties and damages the Yokai left. Some people were injured while others were under the debris of wood and other traditional materials. In time, the emergency services came to aid them. Police also came to the scene. We then talked to them and the paramedics about what had happened. Visitors and caretakers bear witness to what they have seen. The officers are skeptical, but judging by what they see at the shrine, they take their claims as eyewitness testimonies.

We thought it was over, but it's not. As the scene got more hectic, I received a phone call from my father, so I answered it, "Hello? Dad?"

"Son!" cried my father with a tone of despair and fighting for his survival.

  "Um, what's with the tone?"

"Come here, son! There are a lot of bony monsters here in the Yakuon Hachiman Shrine! Please, I need your help!"

But then, the call was cut off and disconnected.

  "What? Hello? Hello?"

The call was finished, interrupted so suddenly.

Because of this, I put my phone away in my shoulder messenger bag and looked at Kuro and the others. "Guys, it's not over yet."

They looked at me with surprised looks on their faces.

  "What?"

  "There's still more?"

  "Where?"

"Yes, at the Yakuon Hachiman Shrine," replied I seriously.

Saki gasped in shock while Sha and Kuro clenched their fists on those bony Yokai.

Bokuto prepares just in case.

"Those monsters…" Kuro muttered in a dark and hostile tone.

  "Let's go there."

And so, we all left the shrine and sprinted towards the Yakuon Hachiman Shrine in the city as fast as we could before any more casualties or destruction would be added. Every few seconds is a few seconds of lives lost and destruction added. We saw emergency vehicles going fast through the crowded streets along the way. Upon arriving there, we saw that the Gashadokuros were already causing so much destruction and bloodshed in the place: buildings destroyed and lives devoured and lost. Then, I saw my father waving at me while taking cover under a wooden building. The police are trying to stop the monsters, but to no avail, and their bullets are useless to them.

"Dad!" I rushed towards him to help him get out of there.

I did, and my father is now getting out of the area.

But then, a bony hand is about to reach us when Sha sped through and sliced through the yokai arm like butter with his Negative Energy magic.

The monster growled in pain and pulled back the remaining part of its arm.

"Thank you," my father said to Sha.

Sha looked at him seriously. "You're welcome. Now get out of here."

He and the others then continued on fighting and fending off the monsters.

Bokuto gets the people out of the place for the safety of the outside.

Kuro slashes the arms of the yokai like butter, while Sha targets their weak points.

Then, once we were outside, my father told me to go back in and help my friends and PE teacher defeat the monsters.

  "What?" I responded.

"You can do it," my father replied. "They're your friends, right?"

I nodded because my father allowed me to be with my friends in this situation. "Yes."

I ran back as my father shouted, "Be safe in there, son!"

Returning back, Kuro and Sha are exhausted from fighting while Saki and Bokuto are left to fight the monsters.

"We can't…" Sha muttered while panting for his breath.

"They're too strong for us," Kuro added.

Due to this, I reloaded my pistol with Negative Energy bullets and charged at the monsters, jumping high and, using the few shots lesson from my weapons instructor, fired a few shots at the yokai's weakest spots.

This weakens them severely, before landing on the ground in action.

"Taro-kun!" Saki called, before withdrawing with her staff.

I then turned towards her in positive coolness. "You're welcome."

Saki was delighted to hear that.

As the monsters were weakened more and more, Bokuto got Kuro and Sha out of the area. At last, the Gashadokuros are no more in this shrine.
