My Other Self is a Strong Warrior

Hoshi Carmen Takada-Santos, better known as Hoshi Santos, might seem to be an ordinary biracial high school student living in Nara City, Japan, but his other self, the serious, strong, and cold Kuro, is a strong warrior who wields a scythe as his weapon. It’s been 4 years since his father, a Filipino shaman named Louis Santos, had died after banishing an evil entity, only known as Master Black Blood, into the underworld for his atrocities, Hoshi had to hide and conceal Kuro from anyone for his safety. But, Master Black Blood’s son, Master Demon Blood, would do anything to avenge for his father’s banishment from the overworld, and this also means killing Hoshi. This demonic entity also employs the help of Sha Sakiyama, a mercenary and expert on the use of shadow, to get rid of Hoshi. But, Hoshi isn’t alone in fighting the evil forces. His classmate, a reclusive and introverted ninja named Bokuto Sakata, decided to help him out because his father was a close acquaintance of Louis, and a girl named Saki Mizoguchi, who was secretly a mage and had a long family lineage of the use of magic. Dive into the world of both magic and modernity as their quest against the evil supernatural forces begins to unravel.

Chapter 40 – Kana is worried

Third person POV

After that, Kuro reverted back to being Hoshi, alongside his scythe back into a kunai knife. Taro was exhausted the most, so Sha helped him to stand up.

"That was…intense…" Taro commented as he kept on panting.

Sweat runs down his clothes and forehead.

Saki then wipes the sweat using a green hand towel as he puts his pistol back in his holster.

Now, the emergency services can assist those who are in need. Taro's father came running to him and hugged him. "Thank goodness you're safe."

  "Dad…I did it," Taro replied.

"Yes, you did. I'm so proud of you."

Taro then hugged back. "Thanks, dad."

Hoshi and the others watched this scene approvingly.

Later that early evening, all of them went to a hospital in the city to check if there was anyone who was seriously injured. Then, as Hoshi and his friends checked while Taro and his father were standing in a corridor, Kana and Taro's mother came to them, worrying about Taro.

  "Big brother!" Kana called out.

Taro and the others looked at her and the woman.

  "Kana-chan?"

"Are you okay?" Kana asked while being worried. "Are you hurt?"

"Honey, are you alright?" her mother asked him.

"Yes, I am," Taro answered their questions.

"How about dad?" Kana asked back while being concerned for her father.

  "He's fine, sis."

Kana and her mother sighed in relief.

Then, Taro's father came and assured his daughter and wife that he was alright.

Because of this, Kana hugs her father in relief.

"Yes, Kana, daddy is alright," he said softly to her.

While that happened, Hoshi and his friends were done checking and went to an empty ward to discuss something puzzling and serious: why would Gashadokuros attack the shrines? Saki added that they didn't attack elsewhere except for those sacred places.

"Right…" Hoshi bit his lip, before diving into deep thinking.

"Might be occultists who did it," Bokuto suggested.

"Possibly," Saki replied back while agreeing to half of it, "but I am not sure though."

"Whatever the reason is," Sha stood up and looked at the view of the city at night through a window, "we must stay alert for any threat, especially supernatural ones."

Hoshi and the others nodded in agreement, promising to stay vigilant on any threats.

Meanwhile, Master Demon Blood was sipping his glass of red wine while watching the news from Yamatokoriyama. The news reporter and hosts theorized that those bony yokais attack randomly, and no one was suspected of a thing. He smirked instead of being upset because, he would test Kuro more with more tricks on his sleeves, remembering his goal to eliminate him with Sha. But, soon enough, Sha's loyalty would shift like sand.
