Chapter 8 Combat Training

After each of classes had lined up the main group which was also Jack's class, had the original Jack teaching them but before anything else he wanted them to have a showcase of a martial arts battle between himself and one of his clones. Jack told them to stay in their groups but to huddle up slightly to get a good veiw of a real fight.

Jack had the danger room set up with multiple platforms that looked like a boxing ring but it was just the platform itself and Jack and his clone were in the center platform that was raised above the others and he said to his students.

"I will demonstrate a real time battle between myself and one of my clones."

Jack faced his clone and said to him to hold back to ensure that the students weren't scarred by see a brutal bloody fight. Jack's clone nodded and another clone was refereeing the fight and said

"3,2,1, FIGHT!!!!"

The clone jumped towards Jack with an axe kick, Jack caught his foot and threw him over his shoulder. The clone caught himself on his hands and did a spin kick while simultaneously launching himself onto his feet. the kick caught Jack off guard because till now he not faught anyone with his level of skill.

He got knocked down. He instantly did a backwards somersault right as the clone tried to slam down with his foot on his head. while getting to his feet Jack did a flip kick and kicked the clone in the chin knocking him in the air and then used his momentum from landing to launch upwards in a spinning corkscrew kick into the clone's stomach.

The clone went flying but re-adjusted himself in the air and landed on one of his feet while slightly massaging his stomach. The clone then did a triple spinning side kick pivoting off one foot sort of looking like a ballerina. Jack blocked the first two kicks but got hit with the third and it hit him in the stomach. Jack grabbed the leg as he kicked the clone in the stomach and then planted his feet and slamed his palm into the clone (think like ancient one in doctor strange)

The clone flew back like a ragdoll with the wind knocked out of him as he didn't fully recover from the last kick to the stomach. Jack then ran after the fallen clone and the clone stood up and they started exchanging fists in the body, face, and legs. eventually they realized that they were too evenly matched and Jack had the ref-clone call the match a tie.

Jack then looked towards his students who were shocked and said that they will still have a few years till they can get to that level of skill and he began to separate the clones to the different platforms and told each group of students to got to a platform with a pair of clones the students obeyed immediately. It seems his demonstration worked better than he thought because the students realized that if they couldn't use powers they'd be destroyed by him and possibly even with powers since they would have to fight at least 15 of him at once.

[AN: The mastery of the martial arts forms will be separated into Early, Mid, Advanced, Expert, and finally Master in each forms. They will first be taught only the basic forms. If they get the forms to the Master level then they can move on to Grandmaster Mastery by combining the different forms]

Jack had all the students learning the basic combat of each of the martial arts he knew and he found that Spike and Bobby had a knack for martial arts and he decided he have a clone work with Spike and he'd work with Bobby and train them in some Advanced Forms.

The training has gone on for about five months and everyone except Bobby and Spike and surprisingly Rogue have reached Mid-mastery of the Advanced Forms. Bobby and Spike have reached Early-mastery of the Expert Forms. While Rogue is just a step away from Early-Expert. Jack had told his students that once they reached mastery in any stage of the Expert Forms he would teach them how to incorporate their ability into it. Spike and Bobby have reached this point so he had them go to a different area of the danger room and he would teach them the best way to use their ability into their forms.

Jack looked at Bobby and said "Bobby, you have a very versatile ability so there is no one martial arts that fit best with your ability so I will eventually teach you two Advanced hand-to-hand combat forms and one weapon combat form."

Bobby was really excited and puffed out his chest but Jack didn't want to let it go to his head so I told him "These forms are dependent upon the control of your own ability and as it stands, you can't use the second hand-to-hand combat form or the weapon form."

Bobby's mood deflated but Jack did try to cheer him up by saying "While your current control is lacking you are perfect for the first form and I am sure that you will master it in no time."

Bobby perked up at that and then Jack said "From the reports I was given about each students control of their abilities as well as the demonstration you gave at the beginning of the class it seems currently you have mastered turning your body to solid ice, gliding on ice bridges, sending ice beams, and making rudimentary ice constructs. So this form is perfect for your current capabilities.

This form revolves around a balance of offense and defense. You can actually bring more out of it because you already have a near perfect defense and your offensive capability is outstanding."

"I will give you an idea of how you can use this form but you will have to practice it mostly by yourself because I can teach you the basics but the limits of your strength you must find by yourself."

"I will give you a for instance scenario. Say you are up against a group of about 5-10 enemies, your first task is to create your defense. Use your solid ice form and make some shield constructs around you for cover and then using the cover with your ice beams freeze the enemies closest and attack in your solid ice form. Your attacks will focus on strong punches to the places on their body that have the most meat. i.e. Stomach, face, and thighs to make use of your ice form. "

"Your ice beams are deadly and if you are dead set on not killing then you have to aim for their exterior like weapons or clothes and incorporate knees and your head to knock them out while they are incapacitated. All these have most of their roots from Muay Tay, this is the best form for your current skills."

Jack left Bobby to work on perfecting his form while Jack went to check on the other students progress and saw that Rogue had rudimentary Early-mastery of Expert Form so he believed she was ready for her other training.

(Meanwhile in another area of the danger room)

Spike and one of the clones was going over his forms that he could use. The clone looked at Spike.

"You actually have access to more versatility with your ability currently than ice man so I will teach you three weapon forms one is centered on a bo staff and one on daggers the other is centered around projectile weapons."

Spike currently had the ability to make hard bone weapons one is a staff like weapon that he can use and the other are sort of like bone daggers that can also be used as projectiles although they are closer in length to short swords. And he has the ability to cover himself in armour with spike like protrusions all over his body.

Spike was a little sad and asked "What about any other forms?"

Jack looked at Spike and said "Your current expert mystery is good enough until you access more power especially since your bone armour can cause wounds as you defend. The best part of you being able to utilize these three weapon forms is in the case that you lose your weapons you can always create more. This allows for more versatility where you throw the bone daggers to stop their movement, come in for a close attack and use your bone daggers if you are ambushed."

(In a secluded corner of the Danger Room)

Rogue was in the corner away from the others and was practicing to get the mastery to be tutored by Jack. She was lost in her training and thoughts and didn't notice Jack standing off to the side observing her progress.

He then interrupted her thoughts and said "It looks like you're progressing with amazing speed."

Rogue jumped a little because she was so focused she got scared by his comment and then turned and said "Jack... er... Professor! I didn't see you there, did you need something from me?"

Jack smiled and said "Actually, I came to congratulate you on achieving the required mastery to receive the special training as your other two classmates."

Rogue was happy, she was never able to feel useful since she only hurt people when she used her power and she couldn't even try to learn to fight because she was always to afraid of injuring her teachers and that made her have a lack of confidence and conviction to learn but Jack helped to give her a new lease on life and she was sure that he would be able to help her to control her power because he seemed to know more about it than even herself.

Rogue then said "Thank you Professor, I want to be able to be helpful to everyone and to be able to help people like the X-men do."

"Don't worry you will. I have to say that your training will be slightly different than the others, I won't be teaching you any Advanced Forms yet."

Rogue's expression instantly deflated and looked down and asked "Why not Professor, did I do something wrong??"

Jack just sighed with a smile feeling bad for her and said "Don't get me wrong it's nothing you did I just have other training to give you before I teach you the Advanced Forms, think of it like a tutorial to a class."

She then regained her vigor and looked at Jack with determination. "I'm ready Professor."

Jack nodded then he began his explanation into her new training to get her ready to train like the others.

"Your current training will be different than the others and will be relatively difficult because of your absolute lack of control of your ability." Rogue frowned but continued to listen intently because she knew he was right.

"I will be training solely your control for the next few months and we will focus on making you able to just hold onto an ability as long as possible and once you're able to hold onto one for longer than 12 hours then we can practice your control over how to absorb the ability to make you able to borrow the ability without hurting the other without anything but slight discomfort."

Rogue now knew that Jack definitely knew more about her power than she believed should be possible. It was almost as if it was his power not hers So she asked seriously, somewhat suspicious of Jack.

"Professor.... No, Jack, how is it you know so much about my ability? It's as if you've studied it. Hell, even I didn't know I could hold onto an ability for longer than 2 hours."

Jack expected her question because it wouldn't make sense for him to know her ability so well otherwise and he already planned what to say. He just looked at her and said

"Rogue, I have never told anyone this because I was worried I would be targeted but I actually have two abilities."

Rogue was reasonably shocked and said "What, Two!! How is that possible?!?! It's completely unheard of for someone to have two mutations."

Jack silently listened and let her finish her barrage of questions. Jack then said "It's not what you think, I don't have two mutations. A couple of years ago I went on a field trip to Columbia University where I was bit by a radioactive spider which gave me enhanced strength, ability to produce webs, can camouflage, and have a connection to my natural Bio-Electric Field it is similar to how you feed off a persons Bio-Electric Field I also did a lot of tests with my ability and when I found out about your ability and read your files I found out about the time when Logan saved you and you took on parts of his personality for a little bit it got me thinking."

Rogue still looked confused so Jack decided to simplify the explanation and just said "Okay, think about it like this, your ability and mine are similar to an extent and with the knowledge from your file I can make an educated guess to future applications of your ability. So it's not that I know about your ability it is all speculation and guesswork."

Rogue seemed to believe him and he internally sighed in relief he underestimated her intelligence and he definitely won't make that mistake again. He then looked at Rogue with a serious expression and said

"Rogue, I need you to promise that you won't tell anyone about what I just told you, they already experiment on mutants and you can imagine what they'd do if they found out about my other abilities I'd be hunted down and experimented on for them to figure out how to make more like me."

She noticed he was being serious and nodded and said "Don't worry Jack, I promise I won't tell anyone. But I am confused about how you plan to teach me how to hold an ability because my ability doesn't work on you."

"Don't worry as I just told you I have control over my own Bio-Electric field so I was able to keep you from affecting it but I can allow you to affect me to practice."

Rogue nodded in understanding but said "I don't want to hurt you Jack."

"Don't worry I'll be fine I'll have a clone separate us if anything happens but you can also turn the device back on if something goes wrong."

Rogue sighed in relief then deactivated the device and grabbed Jack's arm. Jack started to wince in pain, he had experienced worse pain but it still hurt like a b***h the feeling of having his life force ripped from his body wasn't a feeling he'd want to feel too much. Jack pulled away when most of his field had been absorbed and he kneeled on the ground feeling weak. Thankfully for Jack, he had a lot more Bio-Electric energy than others and he could regenerate his field a lot faster and was back to normal about 5 minutes later.

Rogue was astonished because she had never felt so much energy coursing through her body and she knew how to activate his ability even if she didn't ever use it before because she was really observant and had been watching Jack when he activated it, but she struggled to make just one clone. After the clone was fully formed Jack stood up and said to Rogue

"That's perfect now we'll do more things with my ability later but at least for now just try to keep the clone activated as long as you can and I'll check on your progress."

Jack had all the students excluding Rogue to gather around him and said "I need to rest, but I'll have my clones to continue to instruct the class. After the class you all have Xavier's class so I will see you all tomorrow."
