Chapter 7 Professor Thomas

Jack was spending time in the Xavier mansion and had just finished informing Jean that he finished the device for Rogue. Jean had informed Rogue that he finished the device.

Jean, Rogue, The Professor, and Bobby showed up to meet with Jack.. Jack, who was doing a last minute check on the device, looked up at them and said "Perfect timing, I just put the finishing touches on the device for Rogue."

Jack gestured for Rogue to come forward. Rogue shyly walked towards Jack, she was still embarrassed whenever she saw Jack because of what she did before but tried to make sure that it didn't show but if one looked closely they could see a slight red in her cheeks. Jean could see the slight blush on her face and smiled knowingly.

Jack looked at her unaware of the slight redness in her face because he was focused on the device in his hand and to make sure he put it on right. "Rogue, put out your right arm." Rogue put her arm out and Jack attached the device to her wrist and there was a distinct sound from the device that sounded sort of like when Ben first put on the Omnitrix.

The device looked like metal band with glowing dots of light in a circle around the entire band and in the center was a black circle and the inside of the circle had a glowing white rod seated horizontally.

Jack then said "It should be ready to be calibrated to you, I set it to be voice activated and it is also able to be connected to an Iris scan. All you need to say is 'Activate'."

Rogue was excited and immediately said "Activate." A chime was heard and then an emotionless futuristic voice said {A.B.E.F activated, Voice key required.}

Rogue was slightly confused and asked "Voice key?"

Jack didn't miss a beat and said "It wants you to use your voice so it can only be activated by you and it needs a key word to say for activation."

Rogue had a look of realization and said "Rogue, activation code. 'Light'."

{Activation code accepted. Welcome Rogue, please provide Iris scan for further security.}

Rogue had a look of confusion and said incredulously "It has my voice?!?!"

Jack smirked and said "Of course it does. I programmed it specifically for you. The Iris scan will make it so someone who somehow gets a hold of a recording of your voice can't just deactivate the device without your knowledge."

They still had to test if it worked and since it was already activated Jack called Bobby over and said to Rogue. "Rogue, why don't you see if it works. Try to touch Bobby."

Bobby was a little nervous but still walked forward. She rushed and gave Bobby a hug. He flinched expecting pain, but nothing happened and he started laughing and said "Rogue, it works I'm so happy for you!!!" Rogue had the biggest smile on her face and then looked towards Jack to ask him about any other features of her new hope.

Rogue was really happy and said "Wow that's so cool. Can it do anything else?"

Jack had a beaming smile because his creation seemed to be working perfectly, he just had one last feature to check. "It has one more feature. Camouflage."

"Camouflage? How do I make it work?"

"Just twist the white rod to where it's vertical and twist the circle once around."

Rogue did what he said and the device itself disappeared she was shocked and looked at Jack and said "Whoa it disappeared. But how am I going to use it if I can't see it?"

Jack started laughing and said "Silly girl I said it was voice activated, but if it bothers you it does have another option."

Rogue had a slight pout at being teased but listened nonetheless. "Override Code Romeo Juliet Zero One. Deactivate camo." The device showed itself again. {Override Code accepted. Control temporarily changed to user Jack.}

Xavier was a bit disappointed that Jack decided to add an override code but kept his mouth shut because he did see the benefits of having it as a contingency plan. Rogue then looked towards Jack. "Why does it have an override and what's the other option?"

"Don't worry I actually added a few override codes in the case that you are compromised. And in regards to the other option turn the rod back sideways and do the same thing you did before with the circle but in the opposite direction."

Rogue did what Jack said and the device changed to a regular black digital watch. Rogue was happy that she could see it again and then noticed the watch. Before she could say anything Jack said "What you're thinking is correct since I used some holographic tech to make the camo feature the watch actually works. It's mostly for appearances sake though."

She was glad for that because it would get annoying to explain why she was wearing a broken watch. Rogue then looked at Jack's smiling face and this time turned noticeably red and said

"Thank you so much Jack. You don't even know how much this means to me. This is a debt I don't know if I can repay."

Jack was very nonchalant about it and just brushed it off. "Don't worry about it, it's the least I could do. Afterall the professor is letting me stay here and hearing your story I couldn't stand to see you suffer any longer." Rogue nodded but then froze when Jack said

"Besides I don't mind doing a favor for such a beautiful girl."

Rogue now had a complexion of a blood red tomato and nervously stuttered "t-t-t-Thank y-y-You Jack." Then once again ran out the room.

Bobby ran after her and shouted back to us "I better make sure she doesn't go around hugging everybody! She might scare one of the kids to death."

Jean, who had been watching the whole interaction, to try to diffuse the situation said "Well, she seems happier. Now, professor you said we would talk to Jack about his schedule at the school."

Xavier nodded towards and turned to Jack "Jean's right I haven't explained everything to you yet. let's go to what will be your classroom and discuss it."

Jack was a little confused at why Xavier said 'classroom' but decided he'd ask when he got there. They arrived in what was supposed to be Jack's classroom and Jack finally said what was on his mind "What did you mean when you said 'classroom' I was under the impression that I was going to be teaching just the danger room sessions."

Xavier and Jean shared a knowing smile and he said "Yes, that was originally the plan but we found another way that might help the students almost as much as the combat sessions. We wanted to ask if you could teach the students about some of the current technology and if you could teach them how to build those hologram generators you used to conceal Rogue's new 'watch'."

Jack had a thoughtful expression on his face and then responded "Yes, I don't see a reason why not. It should be interesting to possibly find someone who excels at it besides me."

Three days pass by and it turns out that all the students were talking about who the new professor could be they walked to Jack's new classroom. After all the students had arrived and were sitting down they waited for the new professor to get there. They were all talking aloud to each other when they heard the door open and Jack walked in apparently Rogue and Bobby were in his class but he couldn't play favorites.

He walked up to the board and wrote Professor Thomas on the board and said "My name is Jackson Thomas and I'll be your new Practical Technologies professor you are to call me Professor Thomas or just simply Professor. Are there currently any questions?"

One younger female student raised her hand and said "Professor, you seem quite young to be a professor."

Jack smiled and said "Yes, I am quite young but I have two Master's degrees in both Bio-chemistry and Engineering as well as a PhD in Physics. So I am more than qualified to teach this class if that is what you are worried about."

Without meaning to since Jack hadn't practiced it enough, using Jean's telepathy he heard some of the students' thoughts some had rather interesting thoughts.

Jack, after hearing these thoughts smiled slightly to not show that anything was going on and decided that at least with some of the male students, he should make sure they don't try anything so he said

"I forgot to tell you that I will also be your Combat Instructor for the foreseeable future, I am well versed in virtually every martial arts that exists and I am proficient in most weapons, both modern and others like swords as well." More thoughts came rushing in.

Eventually one of the male students asked the question that were on most of their minds since they knew every professor had some sort of power.

"Professor Thomas, if you don't mind me asking what is your power?"

"It's no problem at all. I can make perfect clones, each have my own combat ability and can think independently as if they were me. Which they are hahaha."

Jack decided to get more practice with Jean's telepathy because some of the girls' thoughts when he mentioned his power it almost made him flinch but he made sure to keep his composure.

The rest of the class Jack had shown his students his own holographic tech but mentioned he didn't create the tech but has a near perfect understanding of it since he had reverse engineered the technology when he was in college. He had the students focus on just playing around with the hologram tech to get the hang of how it operates because figuring out the use of the technology is the beginning of fully understanding it.

While Jack had them playing with the tech he made it look like he was doing something on his laptop but he was secretly training his telepathy so he could at least choose when to hear and when not to hear their thoughts. After playing around with the tech for a while, He gave them a list of uses of the tech and told them to try to find an innovative way to use the tech. Jack didn't give them a full list of it's capabilities since he wanted to see if they could figure it out on their own.

The class ended two hours later and he gave them the homework of trying to use the tech in the ways listed and to write a single page of notes on different ways they believe it could be used.

(Danger Room)

Jack is now in the danger room waiting for his students to arrive for Combat Training. This class wasn't as separated as the other classes because the nature of his ability allowed him to teach multiple groups at once but the first lesson will be them all together for a short lecture.

There were 6 groups of students from all the other professors and they all have now filed into the danger room. Jack decided to humor some of the girls and piss off some of the guys so he was wearing combat pants and a tight combat shirt that looked like a tank top that showed off his well defined muscles. There were actually more than just that reason for it. He wanted to ignite the fighting spirit in the guys and to make the girls to try harder even if it was only in an attempt to impress him.

Jack decided to allow this for the first lesson of the class but he will not go easy on them after it because the world outside the mansion would not be forgiving. Jack stood in front of the groups, he noticed some of the girls with what could be described as hungry expressions and it sent slight chills up his spine. He then introduced himself once again.

"For those of you who don't know me, I am Professor Thomas and I am the professor for Practical Technologies as well as the Combat instructor for all the different classes.

Today we will be starting with everyone demonstrating their powers one at a time against a practice dummy so I can get a good grasp on how I might be able to incorporate a certain fighting style with your power. I will also be teaching the basics of multiple martial arts to each and every one of you so you can protect yourselves. Once I have a good grasp of each of your fighting capabilities I will instruct each of you with your own personal fighting style that works best with your ability.

One of the jealous male students that wasn't in Jack's previous class figured that he was going to play favorites with the girls so he asked

"Professor, I don't mean to be rude but how are you going to teach all of us individually in one class if there is only one of you. Are you going to prioritize the stronger students or the best ones."

Although the student didn't say it directly to avoid suspicion Jack saw his eyes when he said 'best' as he looked towards a group of girls.

Jack still answered regardless since he planned to demonstrate his power anyways and said "That, is an excellent question. And I have to thank you since it made me realize I haven't explained my ability yet."

He used his ability while explaining at the same time. He split into 15 clones which he will tell to Xavier that he had just been practicing to make more. He said "I can make absolute copies of myself with all my combat capabilities they are able to think by themselves and have all my knowledge. They will easily be able to handle teaching and even giving one on one instructions."

A lot of the students were excited to see the demonstration since they hadn't seen the power from anyone yet so they thought it was unique. And they wanted to test it's limits and see if they could be the one who made the clone lose. Jack then had each student demonstrate their abilities and then asked them to line up based on their respective classes and he will have two clones for each class for the time being.
