Fury is somewhat of the same mindset of Batman at least when it comes to his paranoia. He has a much more relaxed personality
Although Maxim knew Fury was a decent person from Alex's memories of the MCU, he couldn't trust him, you'd be stupid to trust a Super-Spy, especially one with so many different secret plans in motion like Fury.

Of course, the cat in this situation looked nothing like a cat at all. It stood above two meters, had purple skin and looked like a beast from the novels.
