Chapter 26: Sports Festival (5)

For lunch break, I wanted to go to my family, but I saw that Fuyumi and her mother Rei were with them, so I changed my plans and had lunch with my classmates.

Mezō, Momo, Shoto, Fumikage, Denki, Jiro, Toru and I sat together at the cafeteria.

We just enjoyed our lunch with some small talk about how the obstacle race was a piece of cake for me and how the Cavalry battle was tough with students with different powers teamed up to beat others.

Jiro also didn't know how her team lost, because they had some points that could have placed them in the fifth position. Fully knowing who it was I just smiled as it was funny, maybe not, but his gig will be up after the first round anyways, so no worries.

After lunch we still had some time, so we went around the stadium together to see what all are present for the sports festival. On our way we saw some of the new heroes and some of the experienced heroes patrolling the stadium with some teachers.

When the time was up, we went back into the ground and the ones who got qualified to the third round assembled in front of the stage where Midnight was standing.

[Now that all of you are here, it's time to present the final event of the U.A Sports Festival!]

The screen behind her showed what the next event will be in bold letters.

[That's right folks! We will have a 1vs1 tournament. We will be seeing these sixteen students fighting against each other to reach the top by giving their all.]

Cheers were heard from the audience.

Right after Midnight said that, the screen behind her started to roll through the possible matches and finally came to rest.

Seeing the match up greatly surprised me, not because Mineta is my opponent but because the match up is completely different from what I remember, even though what I remember is only limited until the introduction of the meta liberation army, I do remember this part clearly as I have seen this repeatedly.

'Well that means I would see something new. So that means the butterfly effect has started to take effect huh. This may be a small demo from the world, showing me that things are changing. The biggest change I have done is saving Eri way before she was supposed to be saved. That means, something big is going to change in the future, it's good to know.'

Midnight asked us to leave the ground so that they could set up the dueling stage for the tournament.

As my fight is in the middle, I decided to sit back and enjoy the show as much as possible.

Looking at all the participants, I saw Mineta shaking like a leaf while looking at me. I smiled at him as if it was funny.

I was sitting with my classmates, and some of them had gone to do the recreational games that are there to entertain the audience until the stage is ready for the tournament.

I also noticed that the match ups don't have any other Class 1B students other than Mineta. Yeah, he's in Class 1B. It's a surprise too, as I only had a five percent chance to enter 1B. Gotta give him credit for that, because even though he comes off as a pervert, which he actually is, he's kinda smart. His perverted personality has subdued as far as I can see. Maybe because of Itsuka, she might have bashed him with everything she got whenever he started his perverted activity like how Neito just started annoying our class.

[The first match of the first round!

Hitoshi Shinso, the dark horse of this sports festival from the General Department Class 1C!

Hanta Sero, the tape man from the Hero Department 1A!

Give them a loud applause everyone.]

As both of them reached on top of the stage, Midnight asked them if they were ready, both of them replied that they were and Midnight started the countdown.

In those three seconds, Shinso asked Hanta something and he answered it. Midway through his answering, he lost the control of his body. As Shinsi got Hanta under his control he asked Hanta to surrender, and he did just like Shinso asked. With that the first round ended in an instant, giving victory to Shinso.

Ojiro, who was near me, spoke out loud "That's how he got control over me. He asked something and I replied, but before I could finish I lost my consciousness and the next thing I knew was that the Cavalry battle ended."

We just looked at him with sympathy, and as Hanta reached us in a daze, Denki zapped him with his electricity and said "Snap out of it dude. You lost, it's not a big deal."

"Yeah, but I couldn't do anything. You know that?" Hanta asked back.

Kirishima tried his best to calm Hanta down.

While this was going on at where I was staying, Shinso got appreciation from his classmates for bringing their General Studies department to the quarter finals.

Anyway, the second match has started and it's Mei vs Iida. Like in the anime, Mei gave Iida lots of her super cute babies and played with Iida the whole match. Until her presentation was done she didn't move from the spot she was standing. After finishing her piece, she just surrendered without any remorse for using Iida as her model.

We had a good laugh because of her shenanigans, the audience were intrigued too by her unusual presentation.
