Is it wrong to be a Shrine Maiden Kitsune in a Dungeon?

Working overnight is such a pain.

I mean really, it's quite stressful when you work throughout the day with little much break time in the job I am working on.

Typing documents, printing documents, passing the documents to your superiors, getting scolded for various errors in the said documents, rinse and repeat.

Sigh....such a pain....

This kind of stressful lifestyle continues throughout my middle-age life.

Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Shirou Suzuki. I am 30 years old and I am your average businessman. I quite average in every aspect of my life. From my hobbies, morals and standards. Even my knowledge with anime and games are quite average.

However, my work life is not average. In fact, it is the opposite of average. It is abnormally stressful and I can't stand it.

"Sigh...such a pain"

"Stressed again, Shirou?"

I turned my head to my right and saw my senpai co-worker next to me.

His name is Alfred Gregory, my senpai. He worked three years before I got employed in my workplace. He has dark skin and a tall muscular build. This stature made him looked so intimidating. But don't worry, even though he looks like that, he is very kind-hearted and will help any kouhai co-worker if they have a problem.

"Yeah Senpai, don't look so gloomy at work"

Then I turned my head to my left and saw my carefree looking kouhai with his arms behind his head.

His name is Kaito Kazumi, my kouhai. He just got employed three months ago. He had an aloof and carefree expression in his face all the time. Same goes to his demeanor and way of working. He always slacks off when the superiors are not in the facility or when after work. He is a hardcore otaku fan. It might be over exaggeration, but when there's an opportunity, he always talks about the most recent anime released in the internet. He will also summarize an anime when felt offended by a random co-worker who is a normie.

"Hey Shirou, why not join us in the bar tonight, I'll treat you guys with drinks" Kaito invites me and Alfred with an aloof grin.

"It's fine for us to drink tonight, but please take your job seriously" I said with a stressed and frustrated expression.

"Yeah yeah I hear ya"

several hours later and it's nighttime. We three had finished our tasks in time and we talked to a local bar to drink.

"Hey waiter!! Give us beer for three people please!!" Kaito waved at the waiter as we take our seat on the corner of the bar.

"Right away, sir"

"Hey guys, you heard of the new season of the anime called Danmachi. It's so cool, right Senpai"

"I haven't got the time to see look in the internet because I was busy and tired from work. What's new about it"

"Well, you see-----"

We talked for hours as we drink the beer that we ordered, we talk and talk until it was midnight. We also keep ordering more beer until us three are totally drunk.

"Hey you two *hic* you guys should relax more and watch anime when guys have time"

"But Kaito, have *hic* work to do in the next day, I guess it's time for us to *hic* go"

"Shut it, Alfred! Drink more *hic* you two are always stressed at work. Specially you *hic* Shirou. You always worked so hard yet you have *hic* little time for yourself"

"But *hic* Kaito, I need more *hic* money for my family"

"Ah, a family guy, huh *hic* that makes sense *hic* but still, you should slow down a bit *hic* or you'll die from overexertion"

"...I'll try"

While the three are wasted on the corner, a suspicious looking co-worker approaches the three.

"Hey you three, how are you guys" The co-worker called us with a friendly manner

"Who are you again?"

"Ah! I'm sorry, I forgot to introduced myself. My name is Kayabe Kayato, a new recruit. Nice to meet you three"

"Ah, Hello"

"Nice to meet you too"

"Hey ya!!"

"So may I join you guys in your drinking?"

Kayabe seat next to me and waved at waiter to order him a drink.

"So Kayabe *hic* what brings you here?"

"Ah, you see, I am a fanfic novel writer and I am currently planning to write my new fanfic. Would you three help me out a bit?"

"""Sure"""

"Awsome"

Kayabe then pulled out a laptop from his bag and typed something in the keyboard.

"I'd like to know you guys' personal preference for a waifu material in an isekai world"

"Our personal preference? well...." I scratched my chin as I think of an answer

"I prefer a kitsune waifu. The ones that wear shrine maiden clothes"

Kayabe typed what I answered from his question

"wait! I'm not done yet....it's a loli has pink hair and tails"

"Heh, pedophile"

"Shut it, weeb"

"How about you, Alfred-senpai?" Kayabe asked Alfred

"well...I prefer...those dark-skinned buffed women, what are they called again?"

"Amazoness?"

"Right, those. Specially with huge D-cup breasts"

Kayabe typed what Alfred said in the Laptop

"hehehe, amateurs.."

"What did you said?"

"AMATEURS!!" Kaito yelled, then he stands up and points at us.

"Then what's your preference then?!"

"Yeah Kaito, what is it then?"

"Fufufufu, my preference is..."

An imaginary drumroll sounded in air and then....

Everything went silent

All of us, even the other costumers in bar, are speechless from Kaito's outrageous shout

and then....

"he...hehe...HAHAHAHAHAHA" the three of us laughed at Kaito and he blushed at our reaction from his answer

"HEY!! DON'T LAUGH!! YOU GUYS DON'T UNDERSTAND" Kaito yelled as he is red all over face from anger and embarrassment.

"no no, It's not like that. We're just laughed on how goofy you sound"

Kaito is trembling from embarrassment, then he grabbed his bag and walks away.

"I'M GOING HOME!!"

" hey wait, we're sorry"

" Ah Kaito wait for us!!"

"Waiter, here's our payment on the table. Kayabe we'll take our leave, See you later"

"Ah see you later, senpai"

I rushed to the exit and chased after Kaito and Alfred who ran away.

Little did we know, back in the seat we sat on. Kayabe creeps a suspicious smile as he types on his laptop.

Then he hovered his cursor to the word "Enter"

and he clicked it...

I ran unsteadily and chased after my two drunk friends.

I saw them on the other side of the pedestrian lane while running.

When all a sudden...

Mu heart throbbed heavily, my vision became blurry and my movements became sluggish.

"Urgh, what the hell is happening"

I keep on staggering and tried my best to not fall over the road

and then...

*HONK HONK*

as I staggered forward, I heard a truck on my left.

I slowly turned my head and the truck is a meter closer to my face.

Everything slowed down, I froze in place

Then a bright light engulfed my vision, stopping my words

and then everything went white.......
