Chapter 3: enemies of rainbows

"hey! We are going to canteen then we are going to play among us, wanna join?", Evangeline asked Selene. The sight of the girl being insecure about having them as friends was not pleasant. She barely said anything to them, probably in fear, and she also just didn't say much on her. It'll come. First days are always like this but the girls around her wanted to make her feel as comfortable as she can be. She is not judged and will never be. Not with them at least.

The nosy girls in other classes will presumably come bully for wearing rainbows when she's alone. That's why Evangeline won't let Selene by herself for now.

"Oh yes! why not", Selene had noticed that they all played role in their friend groups. She met three of them but the twins stayed with some other girls. They may be bestfriends so she did not want to be an intruder. She felt shy. She knew multiple eyes were on her and that made her feel intimidated. She would bite her lips while her legs trembled. Trying to calm herself down. It wasn't the moment to do an anxiety attack, she told herself. Though no one would see or notice.

Shania called herself a clown despite being a bad bitch. Shaivi was her weird sister that also worshipped women. Selene smiled at the thought of it. It was funny but at the same time, it spoke to much on her persona. There was this girl, Di-Dele. She was short, chinese origin and chubby face and pink lips. An otaku along with Juliette another chinese origin girl. Skinnier and wear glasses. Soft long hair and pink lips. Behind those two there was Zoe. Short hair, round glasses and short. Among them, Di-Dele is the shortest.

She got up and put her things in her bag. Her phone in her pocket and her purse in her hand. It had the face of a bear in the middle of it and the rest colored in dark blue with white dots.

"Let's go", even if her mom prepared her lunch, she would buy something small.

"Oh Selene! Can I ask why you changed school?",

"I.... well", she didn't know what to tell her. Wasn't it to early to tell her about that? She had to made up something really quick.

"We moved out. And since I'm lazy to go to a school far from my home, I came to this one which is near my house", she made up a lie. stupid. stupid .stupid! She feels like she will regret soon. That's the stupidest thing she could come up with. It had to be quick though. A deep breath then Evangeline answered her.

"Ah! I'd complain too if my house was far, luckily it is not", Oh lord! How she wished she didn't live in her house

unfortunately, she does. Nonetheless she smiled and stopped thinking about her life at home. Acting happy, as if nothing happened was easier than to tell the whole story to someone. Someone who has their own problem, or doesn't care. Neither way, she wouldn't say anything as she's used to keep it in. Like everyone besides. It was such a pain to be in this school where everytime they do science, the teacher will stop the class to remind us that god created most things and without him we wouldn't be ale to do anything. Evangeline really wanted to to yell that they do know and they should continue their damn class! She blamed it on her teachers that she almost failed her classes.

"Really? if you walk till the train station maybe we can walk together!", Evangeline was trying to make her comfortable so Selene decided to make some efforts as well.

As they arrived to the canteen, some girls watched in disgust the rainbows on Selene but Evangeline was with her and they knew that they do should not attack their predator. Evangeline had some fights in the past. Though being a friendly girl, she had some big arguments which got her suspended multiple times. They were not scared..no but maybe terrified of the class Grade 11 yellow. Anyone who is from this class is protected. Even those in disagreements, they will let no one get problem with other students who is under or same rank as them. They never back away. Detention? Nothing to them. Disciplinary form? Nothing. Suspended ? Still nothing. Do they even fear getting expulsed? Some of them get away with their bad-mouth, from felonious act and some of them were about to get expulsed but didn't and just got detention for a whole month.

If they wanted to tell this girl to stop wearing things that represents sins, they had to do it when none of her classmates were here.

"They will always look at you like this while you are being yourself but they won't do shit when i- we are here", Evangeline told Selene who also noticed the stares. The latter just nodded. They are all judging her.. Was it that bad? Was she that disgusting for being herself? What was wrong with her being... her?

"Hey. Don't you worry now. You're not alone", Selene was in a trans. Her head flooded with questions. She just nodded and averted her eyes down.

Evangeline hugged her and told her if she's gonna come with her to take farata but she answered that she'll wait for her where she is. While shania and shaivi went to the toilet. She was alone-- well not totally but right now,she felt empty. Was it because of the stares or the continuous gossips on her.

"She's disgusting!",

"ew she's gay",

"she'll go to hell!".

'I'm not disgusting! God loves me how I am..because he's good'. She had to have faith. God would never let anyone out of his sheep alone. She was the sheep and he was the shepherd.

"Hey new girl. I just want to let you know that you should remove those gay..shit on you! You are going to hell if you choose to be one of them", one of the girl who looked at her upset came to her. Selene saw it coming. She wanted to fight back!how? She was to scared to do that.

"Huh..", She did not know how to respond to her.

She knew this was coming but how does she react? Or what is she suppose to do? She still struggled with how to fit in the society now school. She did not sign up for it.

"Don't take it bad. I'm just looking out to you. You must be new to religion so",

"since I'm born but I guess sixteen years means that I'm new, okay..", it's odd how her head contained so much yet her mouth didn't open at all.

"Remove them now or I'll do it myself!", she smirked. The girl infront of Selene was determined. Selene who was small and cute, never thought she would have to go through this someday again. She looked so oblivious with this babyface yet so mature. The power of the cheeks.

"Okay then I'll tear them apart infront of you then throw them in trash", she raised both of her hands but two others held them. Not those of Selene,no.

"Oh, will you now?",An eyebrow raised on her face. It terrified the girl.

"I'm so sorry sydney!and..and.. and Ad-Adlai!",She stuttered.

When they no longer held her arms,she ran away to her group of friends who got scolded while going away.

The two girls behind Selene then, came infront.

Selene recognised them as one of the two backbenchers in her class. Apparently they were really rude and bullied everyone. That's what Nadia said. She quoted in her mind,

"Sydney is the worst one". Selene won't judge though. They just saved her.

"Thank you",she smiled a little. She still didn't know how to react ,no one really saved her long ago.

"You're welcome. By the way I'm adlai and that's sydney", sydney had a jawline,middle long hair and she looked like a bully. You would want to stay away at first sight. Adlai looked unfriendly and like she could snap at you for anything.

"We're in the same class", Sydney continued, "we know your name Selene. Nice to meet you", with a small smile. They weren't that bad at last.

"Same here!",

"We should get going addis",

"Sure, wanna come Selene?",

"I'm waiting for evangeline,sorry no",

"HEYYYY girls",

Evangeline came with faratas and snacks in her hand. Adlai went back to that unfriendly bitchy look while sydney greeted her. "Was there something between them two?a fight?", Selene wouldn't ask that of course. She was just wondering.

"We should get going, they are waiting for us in class".

When arrived in class they saw shania and shaivi already on their phone. "Dafuk,we didn't see you pass us?",

"We didn't see you either lmao",Shaivi answered.

"Let's play among us!",another girl popped out of nowhere and exclaimed. Which surprised Selene and made her jump a little.

"Oh sorry! I'm shavi ruthford,nice to meet you",

"There's two shaivi in the class?!"

"Yup", they all answered simultaneously.

"Wow".

With that they all went to a corner and started playing their usual game. Selene didn't know how her school was going to be but what she does know is that,she got some unique friends.

"Evan! what's your name", Di-Dele asked.

"It's cooshieman. I'm black. Who's Boba?",

"It's me", Zoe answered.

"Evan I love your name", Shaivi(one of the twin) jumped in the air while laughing.

"I love yours too bitch",

They laughed and Evangeline had this weird high pitch laugh that made them annoyed or laugh more. It was a windshield wiper laugh.

"Oh humm..Selene ..stay away from kate she's an enemy of rainbows", all Selene did was nod.
