The Bridge Was Broken

Lilian Mo focused on attacking the rodents that were gaining speed on the Marauder.

No wonder this part of the city was extremely quiet. It turned out that it was home to these beasts. But how was Zhang Youji able to survive in this city if there were mutants like this? Was it the vibe that his half-mutant mother was releasing that allowed him to be safe? She would never know the answer.

The others on the car weren't idle. Aside from Fu Yangzhu who was focused on driving, they quickly took their guns out and aimed, firing at the rodents.

Lilian Mo pulled out her guns, infusing the bullets with her fire ability before firing at her targets. The bullets caused explosions and killed those that were hit while the others possessed a tough hide, surviving the bullets. The attacks only caused them to be more agitated and relentless in their pursuit.

Mizuki Rei sent out wind blades, beheading the rodents, its red beady eyes making him cringe again. One of the rodents was fast and much more nimble than the rest, racing past through bodies and jumping towards him looking like it was flying.

He was startled and immediately sent out a blast of wind, preventing it from reaching him, and made it hover in midair. Lilian Mo aimed a bullet on that rodent and fired, killing it. Mizuki Rei was sprayed with blood and threw her a look.

For the next few minutes, she entered the zone and fired one bullet after another. Some of the bullets missed but she did not stop her momentum. When her gun was out of ammo, she would replenish them with the ones in her space and repeat the one-sided massacre.

"Yangzhu, there's a bridge up ahead. Drive towards it." Lu Jingren said, pointing in that direction.

"You got it, Boss Ren!"

Mu Qianmo was using his guns but as soon as he heard the clicking noises, he pulled them away and began to use his ability. He was aware that his body was healed from the previous fight but there was little energy for him to use his metal ability. He did not hesitate despite knowing this since they were in a life-and-death situation.

They could not let those things get them otherwise, they would be chewed to death! He pulled metals from nearby buildings that they passed through. It was hard for him since they were moving so he only pulled a small number of metals and molded them into metal thorns. He aimed them towards the rodents, killing the targets.

The nimble ones were able to evade which made him curse. It only challenged him further to hit those moving targets.

When a rodent got past the others and neared the window, Mu Qingqing sneered at it and threw a punch, blasting it away. That rodent was blown by Mu Qingqing's punch. Since she was not as exhausted as the rest of the guys, her fighting strength was still at its full.

"Ugh! Momo, it smells horrible!" She complained.

The others who saw this gaped in surprise at her strength but they quickly went back to their positions.

Seeing that the rest of the team was working their best, Fu Yangzhu was delighted, quickly increasing the speed.

Lin Jiaojiao was helpless against this kind of situation so she was told to stay in the car by the others, activating her barrier ability to surround the Marauder and to provide it some defense. She also hugged Zhang Youji to her chest, making sure that the child did not see what kind of gorish scene was happening behind them, completely forgetting that he possessed tactile telepathy.

She was somewhat down due to the fact that she couldn't help much. Her ability was good at defense but aside from that, this was clearly quite useless during battles because it didn't have any killing power.

She could not possibly jump down to swing her katana because that would mean instant death. She understood that she was too weak to fight this horde.

Even the others were struggling, their faces had gone pale. Lilian Mo was the only one who wasn't tired. She was merciless in her attack and did not hesitate to go in for the kill with her abilities.

She saw ice arrows forming around them and knew instantly that this was Lu Jingren's doing. Those ice arrows sailed towards their targets and froze them. The rodents which had turned into ice statues were trampled by the others and were destroyed.

To cope with a large number of rodents, the speed at which the ice arrows were formed increased. This type of large-scale attack had a high consumption of ability but despite this, Lu Jingren who was in the car was not fazed. Like the others, he did his best to prevent the rodents from getting to them.

No one saw when blood began to bleed from his nose since they were all focused on attacking their targets while they were in a moving vehicle.

Mizuki Rei also did not lose in terms of long-distance fighting ability. His air blades were swift. While they hardly did any damage to the half-mutant that they fought, they were deadly against the rodents because they did not possess the hard armor.

A few rodents who were fast and nimble were trying to hit the Maurader and topple it over but with Lin Jiaojiao's barrier, they weren't able to do that much damage. Some of them got annoyed after hitting the almost invisible thin film and became more aggressive.

A few meters from them, was the bridge that Lu Jingren told Fu Yangzhu but there was obviously a problem.

The bridge was broken.
