Chapter 25: Pulse

Garrett

Things were surprisingly good between my brothers and me right now.

We had cleaned up Liam’s blood from the floor, a job that took all three of us scrubbing at the wooden panels. It had been surreal and kind of f*cked up, but we had laughed as we did it. We joked easily, and the conversation felt natural.

Afterward, we sat in the kitchen drinking enough coffee to kill a man and tearing into a box of raspberry Pop-Tarts, because none of us wanted to bother with eating anything substantial.

Liam and I were talking again. It wasn’t much but after years of barely being able to hold a conversation with one another without a fist flying, being able to share a space while drinking coffee or eating felt like a blessing.

Even Damien seemed more present - he didn’t slink off to wherever it was he went after finishing up his work on the house for the day.
