Interlude: Khayin

The phone kept ringing and ringing.
In the privacy of his own room, Khayin's leg bounced as he waited for the man on the other end of the line to pick up. The evening light streaming into his window was rapidly giving way to darkness.
The team was leaving the hotel, and all of them were waiting on a Director An Singh to coordinate an alternative site. Even if it was only for a couple of nights, Khayin understood the desire for security.
After all, only he knew that the danger had completely passed.
Things hadn't gone to plan, but Khayin had remained calm. He no longer had a way out, but it was a small price to give up his contingency plan in favor of maintaining his own secrecy. He had no intention of getting caught.
