Amaris didn't know how much time passed by as she wallowed in shame for using her master. Eventually, she decided to pack up all of her belongings.
She couldn't live with the thought that every time she used her ability. The men from the castle were already looking for her so why not make it easier and go find them herself?
Amaris silently entered the cottage and took great care in packing all of her clothing and knickknacks she owned. A wooden pin, A carved flower, faded grocery lists, marbles, and her cloak.
She bundled it up and placed it in her bag along with some food items. Her master would wake soon and would probably be wondering where she was.
Amaris pulled out a piece of paper from her bag and a pen. She bent over a table and began to write a message.
Content, she tucked the message under a vase of flowers and slipped out of the house unseen. Amaris walked over to the ashy spot the large tree once occupied.
She brushed her hands over the ground and smiled. Her smile was small and sad. She took one last glance at the cottage and bade farewell silently.
Amaris turned away and began making her way into the forest. She traveled the paths she knew and soon the sun rose.
Amaris quickened her pace once the sun came out and she traveled in the woods all day until her muscles were sore and her energy was depleted.
The air grew chilly and the night animals began coming out. The moon hung overhead now. Amaris climbed up a large tree and formed a small air shield to sleep inside.
She ate some bread she'd packed and fell asleep under the moon. The morning had come and Amaris was enveloped in warmth. She felt a slight tickle on her cheek and opened her eyes to brush it off.
When she moved to wipe her cheek she felt something warm there. Opening her eyes Amaris looked down.
"Eek!"
Amaris pushed the thing off and stood up on the tree branch. Her air shield had broken and she was laying vulnerable while this... thing touched her cheek.
"Hah, I see you are awake.."
