10 Energy Source

The energy? Perhaps.

Amaris decided to check the energy levels in the area to see what went wrong. She closed her eyes. The threads of light appeared once more but something was wrong.

The threads were slowly growing towards the area of the tree. The threads would crumple up and disappear once they reached a certain location...Something was destroying the energy in the area...

Could it be..?

Amaris concentrated her ability on another tree not too far away. The tree crumpled up just as the huge one did.

The only difference was that Amaris was using her energy perception as she used her ability. She saw that the moment she activated her ability the energy lines in the area that were not moving suddenly drew towards the targeted tree.

The collision of the energy sources magnified the level of impact. The weirdest or most important thing was that the tree's energy source was rapidly being depleted.

Amaris decided to use her ability nonoffensively on another target. She saw a bird not too far away. Concentrating, she used her ability to heal the bird of any ailments.

Amaris used her energy perception at the same time and noticed that the tree that the bird was resting on was losing energy rapidly.

The leaves looked less green and the bark chipped in a few places. This meant that whatever she was doing caused the tree to lose energy even though she wasn't targeting it?

Amaris thought back to all the times she had used her ability... When Amaris first met her master she was 6. Now she was 13. It had been 7 years since then and Master had aged considerably.

Originally he was a healthy middle-aged man but now he looked very old. It was as if Amaris was slowly sapping the life out of him.

Amaris choked back tears.
