Feeling the gaze of a tiny fox land on her, Xu Yue slightly smiled, turning her attention to Xu Yanmei, who was still sleeping next to Hulli Jing.
Looking at the little fox which had now peacefully fallen asleep after only a few moments, Xu Yue couldn't help but shake her head.
"If only I could be so carefree," mumbled Xu Yue as she touched the fur of her two daughters, causing the two of them to fall into an even deeper sleep.
...
Without any warning, Xu Yanmei suddenly opened both of her eyes and stared at the figure which had sat down nearby to her.
Suddenly, Xu Yue's landed on Xu Yanmei, as the former's voice resounded in her mind.
'Sleep well, don't worry about me,' said Xu Yue, her voice resounding in the mind of the little fox, causing her to once again close her eyes and doze off.
...
An unknown amount of time later, feeling the finger that was currently touching her face, Hulli Jing's eyes suddenly popped open.
Just as Hulli Jing was about to open her mouth and speak, memories flashed through her mind, causing her to look at the two little balls of fur which Xu Yue was currently carrying.
'Give them to me,' said Hulli Jing, her unusually gentle voice resounding within Xu Yue's mind.
Hearing this, Xu Yue nodded before carefully placing the two little foxes onto the bed, next to Hulli Jing, causing them to slowly begin waking up.
Rather surprisingly, the two foxes were not the first to wake up, and as soon as Xu Yue placed them onto the bed, Xu Yanmei, who was just peacefully sleeping in Hulli Jing's fur, opened her eyes and stared at them.
Looking at the useless little foxes, who were struggling to wake up, Xu Yanmei shook her head, a rather comical look of disdain appearing on her face.
Sadly for her though, this look could not stay on her face for more than a moment, as an enormous claw suddenly grazed the fur from her forehead, causing her to snap out of it.
A moment later, Xu Yanmei raised her head, staring eye-to-eye at her mother. Seeing this, Xu Yue quickly interfered.
"She's your daughter as well, are you already picking favourites?" asked Xu Yue as she nimbly moved her hands, picking up Xu Yanmei and holding her in her arms.
Although Xu Yanmei was perhaps unaware of the power balance between her mothers, feeling completely safe once again, she obediently sunk into Xu Yue's arms, looking at Hulli Jing with no fear on her face.
Looking at her daughter, who seemingly had no fear of her birth mother already, after having just been born, Xu Yue widened her eyes.
"As expected of my daughter, not fearing Heaven and Earth," mumbled Xu Yue, causing Hulli Jing to narrow her eyes.
Though, this unafraid look disappeared after a few moments, as Xu Yue slowly but surely retracted her protection of Xu Yanmei, letting her face Hulli Jing all alone.
After staring straight into Hulli Jing's eyes for a few moments, small tears appeared at the corner of Xu Yanmei's eyes, causing Hulli Jing's and Xu Yue's gazes to suddenly change.
"It's alright, mother is just playing a prank, you don't have to worry," said Xu Yue as she tightly held Xu Yanmei, who had tears at the corner of her eyes.
'As expected of my daughter, good job,' thought Xu Yue as sensed the tears on Xu Yanmei's face disappear as soon as she turned away from Hulli Jing.
Seeing that Xu Yue was consoling Xu Yanmei, Hulli Jing turned her attention to her other two daughters, who were much slower at waking up.
...
As soon as Xu Huan woke up and looked at the fox standing in front of her, a rather timid look appeared on her face.
Remembering the claw which had sent her flying to the ground not long ago, Xu Huan slowly but surely retreated under Hulli Jing's fur.
'Why is she so scared of me?' thought Xu Xiaoqing as she looked at her little, feeling quite puzzled.
Suddenly, Xu Xiaoqing moved to the side, dodging the claw which had almost hit her.
Without any warning, Xu Yanmei had seemingly regained her confidence, jumped out of Xu Yue's embrace and launched an attack towards Xu Xiaoqing.
Looking at the little fox which had hidden itself inside its mother's fur, some irritation couldn't help but appear on Xu Yanmei's face.
'Since you like playing with my little sister so much, then let me play with you,' thought Xu Yanmei as she slowly but surely gained access to more and more of her inherited memories.
Swiftly and ruthlessly, Xu Yanmei taught Xu Xiaoqing a lesson and had now sat on top of it. Based on Xu Yue's observations, although her three daughters were technically twins, there was actually quite a large power difference between them.
Although as the youngest sister Xu Huan could probably easily match an adult fox if she utilized her strength adequately, she was no match for Xu Xiaoqing, who was already pretty strong after just having been born.
But although Xu Xiaoqing was pretty powerful, she was really no match for Xu Yanmei, who had not only already become a Rank 1 Demon Fox, but had also begun awakening her inherited memories.
Right now, Xu Yanmei could probably match some demon foxes who had slaved away to slowly but surely become more powerful. As such, under Xu Huan's glistening eyes, Xu Yanmei quickly beat Xu Xiaoqing up, not doing any damage in the process of course.
Looking at her three daughters, who were getting along pretty well already, a smile appeared on Hulli Jing's face.
'Am I already out of fashion, is beating up your newborn little sister the new thing to do?' thought Xu Yue, letting out a silent chuckle at her own joke. Of course, Xu Yue did not say anything out loud, so as to not disturb the scene in front of her.
