"I will avenge you"

(Bryce's POV)

(Night before the party, After talking to Valerie)

"All that blood looks good on you. It really brings out your beauty even more!"

Her loud voice is still lingering inside my head. It wasn't supposed to be like this. She should not remember that bloody night, her mother, and how she was the one who ruined her mother's plans of catching my illegal experiments regarding 'Opm-54-msx'.

I think something more has happened to her in these two years than I can imagine. Today Valerie seemed really distant to me. She never had this much courage to grab me by my collar. What she did today was really something I never expected from her. I have to watch out for her tomorrow.

(At the party, while walking around holding Valerie's hand)

She is looking majestic today. She is also behaving well. I anticipated her to act out but she is being quite cooperative.

'I'm not feeling too well. Let me just go get a drink.'

And here I was thinking she is being cooperative. That rat is already being enough of a headache, V, please don't be another headache. I like playing with you but not always hunn.

'Do whatever you can but don't try to ruin my party. You will regret if you try.'

Hunn, you better take my warning seriously.

[Valerie made a scene in front of the wine table and Bryce watched her carefully. Valerie comes near him and whispers into his ears.]

'Sorry Bryce, I was not thinking clearly. I should have paid more attention.'

'I can clearly see what you did there don't try to act innocent!'

You are trying to act too smart hunn. It doesn't suit you. I have zero patience right now so I will just let you go but you better watch out. In the future, if you do it once more I'll definitely let you know the consequences.

[It has already been near 20 minutes since Valerie has left the party. Suddenly everyone's phones start to buzz.]

What's going on. Why these fools are receiving messages at the time? It's really annoying.

[As more and more attendees start receiving messages they start to murmur.]

These mannerless idiots, now they are even talking loudly at a party.

[Bryce sees his secretary-cum-right hand man Liesel coming towards him.]

Now what he needs. As Valerie is gone from here every little thing is irritating me.

[Liesel comes to Bryce and whispers.]

'Boss looks like that rat has blown up your guests' phones with something. I overheard few conversations and it seems something more serious than just a random picture.'

'And why are you here whispering that into my ears? Go do something, fast!'

'I don't think we can do something. You have to take a look first.'

'You useless idiot!!'

[Bryce storms off with Liesel and heads towards his study.]

(End of Bryce's POV)

(Valerie's POV)

(In the dark study of Bryce, in front of a lit monitor screen)

Is it some kind of trap or what? It is not supposed to be this easy to get into his PC.

All I have to do now is to run this link here. I just should complete this fast and I will be taking a step towards my revenge.

[Valerie runs her fingers faster on the keyboard with her heart filled with half excitement and half fear.]

(1 minute...)

(2 minutes...)

(3 minutes...)

Uh! please fast, fast! Please finish! I need you to complete fast or I'll be done for.

[Suddenly Valerie can hear faint footsteps from afar. She panics. The screen is showing 98%. Her breathing is getting heavier as the footsteps are coming closer.]

OML! I will be done if anyone finds me here like this. I have to hide but this is not finishing either.

[The footsteps stop right in front of the door of the study, and the door opens. Then the lights are lit.]

Leisel and Bryce?! Shouldn't they be at the party?

[Valerie thinks to herself as she is hiding behind a tall bookcase.]

I think God helped me today. If they saw me here tampering with Bryce's PC it would have been the end for me too. Now everything is done. All I have left to do is to inform them about my success. For that, I have to get out of here. But how?

[While brooding over her escape plan Valerie overhears the ongoing conversation between Leisel and Bryce.]

'Boss, I checked with my sources. Each guest received the same message a video clip with a caption saying, "Your trusted Simpleton Crop. and their reliable VC.", and the video is showing you monitoring a researcher while he is injecting 'Opm-54-msx' in a person's body. The person can be seen screaming in pain.'

'So what?! What are they expecting me to do? Publish an explanation? It's my company and they are the ones getting the benefits of the works I'm doing. They should not be acting too righteous. I can do whatever I want to get profits'

'But boss, if media gets a hold of this clip it will affect our stock prices quite a lot. And I don't think any of the attendees here will want that.'

'Take care of the media outlets for few days and I will try to look for some solutions.'

'Okay, Boss.'

'By the way, have you find out anything about that rat? You should have caught it by now!'

'No, my men are working on it.'

'Useless idiots! Fast! And don't forget to bring that rat alive in front of me. After what it did to my company it has to die a painful death.'

'I'll make sure to do that.'

'Boss, I think you should go back to the party and take control over the situation here. I'll try to sort out things with media outlets.'

'Hmmm. Go now.'

[Bryce and Leisel leave after their discussion and Valerie is left in that room all alone again.]

Wow! Someone has made Bryce this concerned?! I must say this person has some sort of talent. It's not easy to make Bryce twice before taking an action.

Is it something related to the person I'm getting messages from or Is it another enemy of his? I've to inform that person about this incident. Maybe it can be someone helpful for us. I need to get a hold of that person as soon as possible and let them know about all things going on in here.

[Valerie heads towards her room after sneaking out from the study.]

[In front of a grave that person is standing. The headstone read as, "Freya West, A woman of great tenacity, strength, and benevolence.". They are wearing a black hoodie as always. Their voice can be heard as if they are talking to the person lying in the grave.]

'It has started. It took me 3 years to start but now I'll only proceed forwards. Your unfinished work, I'll finish that mom. I'll avenge you and punish those responsible for your death. I'll uncover the truth of how a righteous officer like you was wrongly accused and murdered. Just a few more days mom, just a few more days...'

[That person kneels down in front of the grave and caresses it.]
