Pushing Through

Flying through the air, James had a better view of the positions of the enemy. There were only two lines of heavily armored soldiers, the rest behind them were mainly light armored. If he would be able to push open a path for the army, they would easily crumble the enemy positions. Because of his height, he was able to dodge the spears which were pointed at the front. Jumping over them, the soldiers below had not much time to react to what was happening.

Both the distraction of the enemies in front of them as well as the bad positioning of the spear enabled James to travel through the air uncontested.

Before he was about to land, his eyes went towards the back of the enemy formation. Commanding on top of their horses were the two Herewealth family members. The father and son. The ones which James had a beef with.

Losing altitude, James aimed for the shields which were aimed high to get a rebound. These shields were intended to fend off the incoming arrow fire. However, now it was the perfect footing for James to use to get an extra leap into their position.

Landing on one of the shields, he felt that the shield was giving in. Probably his weight would have been too much to handle for the soldier below. But this was not a good position for him to land. Instead, the moment his feet touched something solid, in this case, the shield, he put all his power to his legs. He needed another leap to a better and more advantageous position.

'This is not a good position, I have to get to another place. Don't fail me now!' His mind was focused on the goal which he had. Pushing with all his might, his feet slowly started to leave the contact with the shield it was touching. Having another boost, James again flew through the air. The only problem now was that he had no proper position which he aimed at.

Getting closer to the position he would land, he saw the enemy soldiers look at him. Their faced had a clear look of disbelieve. No one believed that he would be able to make his way through their position. The position looked firm and impregnable. However, for some reason, someone managed to break through. This was something outrageous. However, they were momentarily stunned by the whole ordeal.

Taking advantage of the situation, James unsheathed his sword and swung it overhead. He readied himself for the moment his feet would meet the ground. At that moment he would overhead slash towards the first soldier he met.

This was something that also happened. The instant his feet touched the ground, he put all his power into his arms. Slashing downward with a beautiful arc, the sword but through the stunned enemy soldier standing in front of him. With a clear-cut from top to bottom, the enemy slowly fell backward, stunned and in disbelieve.

Even the surrounding soldiers did not yet wake up from this shock. Taking advantage of this position, James turned around quickly. His goal was not the weaker enemies at the back, which could be handled by his allies. His goal was instead the rows of heavy soldiers blocking the way forward.

Luckily for James, they were distracted by the soldiers at the opposite side. Even though they did notice that James jumped through the skies, they did not head any attention to it. Their back was filled with their allies, so even if he managed to land without any problem, he would be dealt with by their allies. At least that was something that the heavy armored soldiers were thinking.

But this thought of them turned all into ashes, the moment one of the soldiers stopped moving. There was a bloodied sword tip exiting from his throat. The moment the sword disappeared, the soldier fell down with his spear in hand.

He was not the only victim to this atrocity. The moment the soldier dropped, another victim fell to the incoming attack. However, this one was at an important position. It was blocking the path forward.

Not happy, James aimed his sword to the next one. However, this time the enemies woke up from their shocked state and were fully aware of James. But to their surprise, they were met with a smile on James' face. Unfortunately for them, it was already too late.

"Allied soldiers! I, James Witterton, have managed to open up a path for you to enter. Now show them that they were messing with the wrong enemy! Show them your power!" Taking a breath in, the grin on his face winded as he shouted out loud, "Charge!"

As I am having it busier, I will unfortunately not be able to post daily anymore.

Therefore the new schedule will be every other day for a new chapter.

The time stays the same. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
