LVI: Demon blood, human heart. 

After the first battle, the conflict between humans and elves erupted throughout the forest. The constant sound of metal against metal, the chanting of spells, the booming explosions, and the incessant chirping of crows provided an unpleasant soundtrack to the whole situation.

For Seone's group, knowing their abilities, they were given a series of tasks and goals to accomplish, so they did not act all at once, but in groups of two or three, sometimes acting alone. 

And it is in solitude, when you are with your thoughts, that you begin to think about certain issues, trivial or not. Why don't we explore some of the situations that our protagonists experience and learn more about them?

Susie had never discussed this with anyone, but she felt quite conflicted about her current demonic nature. Yes, she was someone who enjoyed the power and freedom she now had, far from the religious oppression she grew up with, but deep in her heart she did not accept being half demon.

The physical changes were the least of it, I mean, she became much more beautiful and had a super awesome cock, but still, she never managed to have sex once in the months she was here, sad for someone with a very high succubus lineage, wasn't it?

As she watched her other teammates slowly open up to the team, sharing their thoughts, dreams, desires, and insecurities, she began to accept herself. Although it was a shame that she was no longer 100%, and it was possible that the rest of her humanity would disappear as her strength gradually increased, she had learned something from watching Marie.

She didn't know if her captain had learned of her situation or if it was just her charisma as a leader working, but Marie proved to Susie that it didn't matter if her body was completely demonized as long as she kept her human nature.

Sure, some things would inevitably be compromised, but that didn't stop her from being herself, as she always had been, and in war, where so much happens at once, she finally discovered that she was herself. 

On a solo mission, using the succubi's natural talent for night travel, she found herself deep behind enemy lines. Her mission? To cause as much chaos as possible. She had no set objective, but she had to constantly annoy the elves, become a thorn in their side, and act erratically. 

This led Susie to experience an aspect she had not been able to develop much in the city or the wilderness, the succubi's ability to enter and control dreams, as well as to absorb life energy. Of course, she didn't want to have relations with elves, because even if she was a demon, she wouldn't rape anyone, not even elves.

Instead, she was very much inspired by Naruto's concept of 'Genjutsu', guiding the dreams of sleeping elves into their most secret and deepest sexual fantasies. She learned a lot about elves, which made her instinctively dislike the race. 

It turns out that elves are very wild about sex, even wilder than humans. If there are depraved monsters in humans, imagine the perverted monsters in other races. As a succubus, she felt that even demons were not as fucking disgusting as elves.

A lot of things she even had to choose not to see, letting those 'sweet dreams' turn into nightmares because she couldn't manage them personally, and well, it turns out that if a whole camp of elves doesn't sleep well at night and have their bodies 'drained' by certain lucid dreams over many days, their performance drops a lot. 

Well, maybe Susie was a little biased by the fact that she also developed a certain disdain for elves as the native humans of this world, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a terrible thing to directly see an aspect of the nature of an intelligent creature.

The same thing would have happened to her if she had done the same to humans, dwarves, dragons, or any other intelligent species, only she didn't know that. It was this hard mental blow that made her realize a fundamental fact.

Sometimes demons don't have to be on the surface, the real demons are inside," it was this realization that caused her mental state to undergo a sublimation. She reflected on her past life, even as a nun she had negative or impure thoughts, but it was her church upbringing and what she had learned in society that indicated to her that she should not externalize her 'evil'.

Susie understood that being a demon was not a species, it was not her horns, her tail, or the fire of hell, a demon allowed herself to be possessed by her base instincts and lost all rationality. At this point, she connected this conclusion to the things Seone usually talks about in the way of the warrior. 

It was after unleashing her usual guided sleep technique on a small elven camp that a green flame suddenly covered her body; the energy he took from the elves, which was usually very little, so he did not absorb it and let it disperse into nature, began to enter their bodies through their horns. 

Her horns functioned as a magic collecting and amplifying organ, something normal in this world, that's why no one had judged him before, because there are much rarer wizards here than simple horns or tails. The energy she took from the elves was 'burned' by the infernal flames that covered her body, and then, after being purified, she began to baptize her body.

She was the strongest physically, even much stronger than a humanoid dragoness like Marie or a crazy fighter like Seone, and now she felt her body's strength grow stronger and stronger. The tail behind her became a burst of light that stuck to her body, becoming a tattoo on her back, the tattoo of her tail.

Her legs, on which certain green lines had appeared due to her growing power before this incident, returned to their normal state, only her smooth skin was white and flawless. The situation in her crotch also returned to the usual appearance of a woman, and the bodies on her head disappeared.

But Susie knew that her changes were even more profound! She could respawn her tail, horns, and lower "horn" whenever she wanted, and even the green lines on her legs were something that could now cover her body, further increasing her strength. A true demon should never be exposed, and the realization of this brought her strength to a higher level. 

Sure, the energy she stole would no longer have any effect on her unless it was that of a higher being, but the normal energy she could now get would have several uses. She could store this energy to feed herself, to restore her energy, or to heal herself, although these effects were only useful to herself and hardly affected other people. 

So, with her new abilities and positioning herself as an excellent fighter, the legend of the "Night Demon" began among the elves. A woman with horns and a tail, covered in green fire, constantly besieged the various elven camps. 

Even if the wizards set traps, created detection mechanisms, or even forbade her soldiers to sleep, nothing could prevent the terrible end of being sucked to death by her. Thus, her title began to resonate not only on the elven side, but on the human side as well, and soon the entire continent knew of this "mage" capable of wreaking havoc worthy of her thunderous title. 

She was the first in the team to hold a title and was the envy of all her peers.

"Susie, how does it feel to have a clear mind?" Ron asked Susie quietly, their whole team was eating a barbecue together, they had rarely gotten together since the conflict began.

Susie looked into Ron's deep eyes and knew that her partner had seen her dilemma for some time now, in fact, few things escaped Ron's attention, but Susie sensed that the man cared about everyone, as a demon, distinguishing someone's nature was fundamental. 

"I feel... truly free," even though Susie didn't enjoy taking lives, being able to show her power and help her side win was something to strive for, so she didn't feel uncomfortable. 

"Well, I knew you could clear your head, out of everyone here, you're not the one I'm most worried about," Ron said as his eyes went to a smiling Seone who was arguing and joking with Axel and John.

Susie also looked at Seone and frowned a little. Seone didn't feel as fragile or full of negativity as he used to, but something was missing in his adjustment and everyone knew what it was. Seone needed to let off some steam, a fight where he wasn't tied up like he was against Damien, but a really hard fight.

Seone needed to release something he hadn't even realized he had to finally step out of the shadow of his former life, needed to let go of that last bit of despair and anguish or his mind would never fully heal. 

Still, the current Seone is a hell of a lot better than before, and that's something they all celebrate internally because there was something about that guy that made everyone feel comfortable, even if he wasn't the leader of the group. 

Susie smiled at the thought of how easily she had become friends with Seone, despite her initial discomfort with men, it was Seone who made her fit in and even softened her relationship with John.

"Don't worry, we're here to help him, we'll never leave him alone, ever," Susie explained, making Ron smile.

"Let's not talk about such sad things, why don't we talk about your recent approach to Samantha?" asked Ron quietly, his eyes, always serious or solemn, now ablaze with the fire of gossip,

"I don't know what you're talking about," Susie denied, though her cheeks were slightly red, though that might have been from the heat of the barbecue.

"You can't hide anything from me! So tell me, what would make a 'demon' interested in a 'saint'?" asked Ron sarcastically, making Susie chuckle.

Everyone knew about Susie's nun past, but Samantha's past was much wilder, even though she was an acquaintance of Seone's, her life and actions were so outrageous that even a certified fighting maniac like our protagonist avoids fighting Samantha.

First of all, Samantha banged an ex-girlfriend of Seone's while they were in a relationship, but that's the most normal thing in her life, Samantha was just a crazy woman who could do anything as long as she got enough money.

A mercenary of sorts that if it wasn't for the incident with Seone's ex-girlfriend that led him to meet Samantha, he would never have had any contact with her. Samantha was the complete opposite of Susie's quiet, church-going life, and now her deception gave her the appearance of a miracle healer with fairly pure light-related power.

Although she lacked direct offensive capabilities, Samantha showed them why Seone was afraid of her, as she could "heal you to death" and not even your soul would be spared in the end. Of the group of five led by Monic, she was the first to receive not one, but two titles. 

'The Maiden of Light' and 'The Holy Butcher'. 

"I guess opposites attract, I've talked to her and over time, although Seone told me some things about her past, she confirmed to me that they were true and even told me a lot of the things she did.

I guess things just came up, even though it's nothing formal or anything like that, but I can confirm that it's mutual," Susie said using a magically created psychic link, because she noticed that her teammates had their ears perked up trying to eavesdrop on her conversation, indeed, gossip was strong in the team. 

"I hope everything goes well for you," Ron blessed Susie before he stood up and approached Seone and the guys, he had to share this juicy gossip with someone, he couldn't keep it to himself.
