Today marked the start of the sports fest. The first day was full of students, and they also decided to open up the gates for other people to walk in.
Of course, with the guards still around.
Yu and Lanfen were still outside the gates, waiting for Roulan. The taller woman explained everything, from how the two got married to how she felt.
Still, she couldn't pinpoint her feelings towards the two women.
"Is she near?"
Yu asks Lanfen, her head peeking on both sides of the road, as she's looking forward to seeing Roulan yet again.
Yanmei didn't go back home even after the two left Roulan's house at night. They spent the whole afternoon and had dinner at Roulan's apartment.
Yu and Lanfen didn't receive any messages back from Yanmei, and the same was true for Roulan. They didn't have any choice but to leave Roulan in her apartment and let her wait for the older woman.
Lanfen shakes her head, looking at her phone, before she feels a frantic tap on her shoulder.
"There she is!"
Yu said, pointing towards the left, where she spotted Roulan walking towards them. The two saw how Roulan looked like she hadn't closed her eyes at night, seeing how tired the woman looked.
They quickly went towards Roulan, offering the taller woman Lanfen's sandwich that she bought from the convenience store near the school.
"What happened to you?"
Roulan thanked Lanfen as she opened the sandwich and took a bite of it. Her shoulders slum in the process, closing her eyes as she savors the ham and cheese in the sandwich.
"I took the overnight shift."
"What? Did your boss tell you that?"
Roulan shakes her head. The three then start to walk towards the school gates, finally entering the school premises where there are a lot of people.
Some are from other schools who are supporting their friends, and some are random people who are interested in what's happening inside the campus.
There's an event in the morning, with people lining up for booths and exploring the big and elegant campus. In the afternoon, there will be games coming from the school varsity.
As well as from different college departments.
"I did that on my own."
"Then you didn't know if Yanmei went home?"
Yu asks, causing Roulan to stop in her tracks. She did go to work to avoid Yanmei, but she didn't have any other news from the older woman.
She didn't even receive any messages from the woman. Or did she only go to work to distract herself from worrying too much about Yanmei?
Either way, all Roulan can think of is that she did come to work to pay back the owner.
"Yeah."
Upon her statement, a commotion suddenly interrupted the three. They all looked at each other before their eyes went towards their backs, seeing an expensive car parked in front of them.
The people around them gather, whispering between their friends and questioning who would bring the luxurious car to school.
There are a lot of well-known wealthy people on campus, including Lanfen and Yu, yet no one ever dares to bring a luxurious car.
The most they got to lay their eyes on was a 2022 model of Perscho GY912, and that car was from Chang. The other well-known rich kids would either commute or bring an expensive car.
The driver's and passenger's seats opened, revealing two buff men. They quickly went towards the back seat door and opened it, revealing two women, one of whom was very familiar to Roulan.
"Yanmei?"
The woman who walked out of their side looked towards Roulan, smiling at the taller woman before she looked towards the older woman, who looked grumpy early in the morning.
Yanmei looks like she just got out of bed. Her hair is still messy, yet it complements her pinkish face.
Why is her face pinkish?
Roulan furrowed her eyebrows as Yanmei stood up in front of her. The older woman raised an eyebrow towards the taller woman before rolling her eyes and walking past the three.
"You're a dead meat, Roulan."
"Why is her face pinkish?"
She asks Guang, causing the woman to smile cheekily towards her. She's about to answer the taller woman's question when Yanmei looks towards them.
"Aren't you going to come with me? Guang?"
"Coming."
Guang said, waving towards the older woman. Yanmei's eyes darted towards Roulan before she scoffing and walked away again.
"Oh, to answer your question, she drank all night."
"Guang!"
"Here!"
Guang quickly left the best friends, causing Roulan to get confused at what the woman said. Did they get back to the bar and drink?
"Oh well, she probably has a hangover."
Yu said, shrugging her shoulders as she dragged the two towards their classroom.
-
"I'm tired already."
Roulan slums down on a random classroom's chair, huffing a breath of relief as she finally gets to sit down on a chair.
As soon as they entered the university premises, they were greeted by people who had started the jail booth.
For every sticker they get, they should pay the police officer one yuan. Yu and Lanfen both have the money, while Roulan has a few.
So what would someone who's broke and working to keep herself alive do?
Literally run for her money.
Not life.
She left Lanfen and Yu behind, not minding if the two followed her. She just wanted to leave and not pay for a stupid sticker.
Roulan quickly stands up from the chair, reaching the sticker from behind her. Yet, her fingers can't reach as the stickers are freely hanging in the middle.
"Oop, let me get that for you."
Someone spoke from behind her, causing Roulan to stop reaching for it and let the stranger get the sticker.
"Done."
"Oh, thank you, Huiqing?"
The smaller woman giggles before she nods, folding the sticker and putting it in her pocket, silently reminding herself that she'll throw it in the trash later.
"Roulan, I've been looking for you."
"Hey, I thought you were at your booth."
Roulan sat down on the chair, inviting Huiqing by patting the chair beside her, which the smaller woman did.
"I was, but my shift ended."
Huiqing giggled as she said that. It was like she was working, which felt unreal to her.
Roulan actually saw Huiqing earlier from her booth, which is the photo booth. She took a picture with Yu and Lanfen, wearing funny accessories.
Roulan nodded at what Huiqing said. She sighs as she leans back on the chair and closes her eyes.
"Have you tried the other booths?"
"Mostly jail booth."
Huiqing laughs at what she said. This police student put stickers on a random person to get funds.
Well, I couldn't blame them, as it was said that whoever had the highest visit in every booth would win their club a trip to the province.
"They are grinding."
"They're stealing my money."
Roulan said nonchalantly, her arms crossing on her chest as she huffed a breath. Huiqing hums in agreement, not really feeling the idea of buying the sticker.
She quickly stands up, causing Roulan to open her eyes and look at the smaller woman confusedly.
"Come with me; let's try this booth."
Huiqing said it with the brightest smile she has. Roulan's eyebrows furrowed, but she stood up anyway, grabbing Huiqing's hands.
"What booth?"
"You'll see about it."
Huiqing winks at Roulan.
