FOOD BOMBS

A few years back when I was working on an experiment in my lab, I stumbled across a reaction that pushed me to create what I call Magic capsules. They could do a lot of things depending on what you react to them with, and of course, the quantity of the reactant matters. So from there on, I mostly used my capsules to create food bombs and a way to torture my siblings. Like today.

It was even easier today cause there was bread present on the table for breakfast and lime which my father always adds to his tea.

Taking a piece of bread, I made sure to do away with every iota of whatever was sandwiched in or on the bread.

After making sure that my bread was free of all impurities, I gradually began moulding it just a few inches above my plate, adding drops and drops of lime, time and time again until I had the perfect texture needed.

Luckily enough, nobody was paying attention to what I was doing because they were all focused on Nyan and anticipating what he'll say.

When I was done with my mixture, I took out a magic capsule from my pocket, (I always make sure to be with it at all times, ) sliding into my hands the now spherical or round mixture... maybe.

I brought my hands from the table and placed them in between my legs and kept on gradually rubbing my hands together, applying friction on my mould to generate enough heat needed to activate the explosion.

"There's a girl."

I heard Nyan finally say. That was the sign. I immediately threw my bomb mould at him at an angle, making sure for it to land on the ground directly under his chair, and the result I got was pleasing enough when I saw his chair skip up with him on it and sent him flying in the air like a cake under free fall. I smiled, which did not last because...

"Neon!!!!!! what did I say about food bombs.??? mother yelled"

I retracted my hands and placed them on my lap guiltily.

"He said he wanted to jump," I said seriously.

"jump??" mother asked

"Yes jump, he needs physical exercise," I said

I heard the girls laugh from across the table.

Nyan grunted as he tried to pull himself up from the ground.

Father dropped his teacup on the glass dining table noisily.

I knew I was doomed.

So before mom could reply, I was already on my way running out of the door.

"Neon!!! mom screamed behind me, you are grounded!"

'And there goes my 19year freedom.' I told myself as I shut the door behind me.

Standing out of the door, my thoughts took me back to the information Flint delivered to me this morning. Flint is efficient than any other human being, of course even me. He or should I say IT is an Android robot, so it's normal to expect perfection, and I always get just that.

I wished at this point that I were a smoker, cos the weather right now calls for some puffing but unfortunately I've never had any interest in Cigars and stuff.

Well from Flint's feedback, it appears Dr Murphy has gone AWOL. But I know that he wouldn't just disappear like that, something is happening and I need to find out.

I decided not to jab my brain on this matter anymore I'll deal with it later in the evening.

Today I was to meet Nathan and the rest of the boys later in the day, I decided to tell him about my plans with Stacy.

So that's the only thing I'm gonna occupy my mind with..... Stacy Blake.

Miles away in a forest

He kept on running without looking back. Stopping once in a while to catch his breath. He couldn't let the men chasing him catch up on him. He knew that he was in this predicament because of one silly mistake.

And now because of his carelessness, not just him but everyone is now in danger, the whole world probably.

He must protect this box with his life and never let it fall into the wrong hands.

He silently took that resolution

All he needed to do, was find a way to send a signal. If his apprentice knew that he was in this situation, he knew that the boy would get him out of here in the blink of an eye, all he had to do was to stay alive until help comes.

Well with all the survival scenarios playing in his head, he did not realize how deep he had gone into the forest

.

Looking from left to right, forward backwards, Only then did he realize that he was lost, well oblivious running into an estranged Forest what would you expect except getting lost, he pulled out a tiny GPS device just the size of a button, stared at it for a couple of minutes before putting it back in his pocket.

Now he knew just exactly where to run to.

**********

Climbing down the stairs, I saw the others completely lost in their world of gaming. At first, I just wanted to silently go for the door, but I changed my mind because I really wanted to know why we were here in the first place.

"So... why are we gathered here?" curiosity got the best of me and I asked.

They paused their game and lifted up their heads simultaneously.

"So Josh and Rita are finally tying the knot," Richard was the first to speak up.

"Oh ok. Congratulations." I said. "So that's why we are here.... just to hear that one sentence? couldn't you send a collective message??" I asked.

"Oh now somebody knows the use of messages?" Nathan said sarcastically as he descended the stairs. Well, I knew I couldn't escape this time, so I did what any human being would do in a situation like this... lie.

"They already called for this Rendez-Vous, I just took advantage of that," I shrugged.

The others just kept on spinning their heads from Nathan to me and vice versa.

"What are you both talking about, I'm sorry I'm lost." This time it was Colin who spoke up, gesturing with his hands in the air. "I thought we were supposed to be talking the wedding?"

"Why? Are we the wedding planners?" I asked, still standing in the same position. Nathan had already taken his place at the table besides Frank.

"No, we're not the wedding planners but the groom's men," Colin said.

"Roger that." "See y'all then." I waved and started for the door.

"Including you Neon." Nathan and Josh said in a chorus behind me

I tried to look indifferent, but I could not help but pause in my tracks when I heard that statement. Thank God I was not drinking anything right now, or else I could probably have spat it out. I slowly turned to face the guys.

"We called you here so that we could agree on the style of the suit," Richard said.

"Suit ???" I couldn't hide my surprise this time.

"Yes, Neon..." "suit, that's what groomsmen wear in every wedding," Colin added.

When I did not say anything after a while, they all began to chuckle.

Everybody knows that I hate suits, I hate gatherings, I hate noise, I just hate anything that would make me have to interact with people outside my cycle, or make me uncomfortable.

Luckily for me, I have two brothers with the same face, either of them would always be me on occasions that I could not boycott. But this... it's a different story.

"So sit down and let us agree." " how do they say it in French again?" Frank spoke, waving his hand questionably in the air. " Ah-ha "réfléchissons ensemble ". He said happily like he had cracked the password to the Pentagon's vault.

All the boys were anglophones, so the little French they spoke was all thanks to me.

"Are we gonna wear ties too?" I asked.

"Of course," they all answered in a chorus.

"Ok," I nodded, "no qualms." " I'll be fine with anything you all settle with. I'm out." I waved.

"Not so fast Mr Adnell," Josh said authoritatively, while slowly walking towards me boldly. He did not stop until he was standing a few centimeters away from me. I couldn't be intimidated by his presence though, I towered over him by about 4 inches, he was not a short fella, it just happened that I was pretty taller than most of my peers.

"We both know that you answering smoothly is so... so fishy," he said while narrowing his eyes to gauge me. "It only implies one thing, that your face would be present but not you," he added a bit sternly this time. It sounded funny, But I dared not to laugh because I was caught red-handed.

"Stop spouting nonsense," I snapped.

"I'm serious Neon, Please... there's still time to prepare." I heard Josh say behind my back as I walked out of the door.

Only then did I realize that I never bothered asking when the wedding would take place.

As soon as I stepped out of the warehouse, I heard my pager beep. I pulled it out.

"Murphy, what have you done....???"

I said to myself after reading the message on the pager.

"Flint, meet me at fourth bay street, come with everything," I said as soon as the call connected.

I hopped in my car and sped off.
