NEON UPRISING

Neon Adnell, a genius born with an eidetic memory, builds a core meant to evolutionize humanity. In the wrong hands, his creation is a weapon, in the right hands, it is a solution to most of humanity’s problems. Teaming up with his old captain squad, they bring new technology to light in order to save people, not once, not twice. But their technology is seen as a threat to government powers. In order to get rid of this technology…this core, Neon unlocks radiative mutated powers and another new universe, different from what he’d envisioned as a cosmos enthusiast, but worth the exploration. He must face new threats everyday, both familiar and unfamiliar, within his world and between worlds. Between it all, he must navigate the tides of love. **************** EXCERPT He kept on running without looking back. Stopping once in a while to catch his breath. He couldn't let the men chasing him catch up on him. He knew that he was in this predicament because of one silly mistake. And now because of his carelessness, not just him but everyone is now in danger, the whole world probably. 'I must protect this box with my life and never let it fall into the wrong hands.' He silently took that resolution All he needed to do was find a way to send a signal. If his apprentice knew that he was in this situation, he knew that the boy would get him out of here in the blink of an eye, all he had to do was to stay alive until help came. Well with all the survival scenarios playing in his head, he did not realize how deep he had gone into the forest Looking from left to right, forward backwards, Only then did he realize that he was lost. Obviously running into an estranged Forest, what could one expect except getting lost. He pulled out a tiny GPS device just the size of a button, stared at it for a couple of minutes before putting it back in his pocket. Dr Murphy

After running for what seemed like forever, he finally saw what he was looking for. Running towards the giant antenna, he brought out his tools from his backpack, good thing he was able to grab a few things before leaving, now the stuff came in handy.

He quickly connected his stuff together until he got the signal on a device that looked more like a walkie talkie, but way smaller.

Physics and all this cabling stuff was not his thing, but he was not completely ignorant too, even though he was into more of chemicals and mixtures.

As soon as he sent the message, he got the sound of approaching footsteps and they were closing in very fast.

Thank God for the sound enhancers he had in his ear. He had to keep moving if he planned on staying alive until Neon arrived.

****************

As soon as I got to Bay Street, Flint was already waiting for me, he jumped in the back seat of the car.

"Flint. I need you to pull out a satellite image on these coordinates." I said while doubling my speed, good thing I was driving a speed devil.

As soon as we got on the dirt road, a little bit away from the town, I immediately pressed a button on the car's dashboard. The back doors morphed into wings, almost like that of a plane, but not that big and defined, at least it still did the job.

We flew for about 10minutes, then we hit the road again. By this time Flint was already monitoring Dr Murphy's position and we knew just how many people we had to go up against.

Well, I was not scared of public exposure because, by this time, Dr Murphy found a bunk and hid in it, unfortunately, Firm guys followed him inside too, we could only get the blueprints of the bunk but no images, It was big enough for anyone to go unnoticed for a while if they were smart and sharp enough.

"Hang in there Doc, I'm coming for you," I whispered.

For discretion purposes, we parked the car a few meters from the way in. Well, we still had about 10meters to cover on foot. But it was easier because I got boots that had after air burners, and Flint, well he's a robot.

The 10meters Walk took us just a matter of seconds cos we were actually gliding in the air.

Arriving at the entrance to the bunk, I jumped in while Flint stayed outside to set up a perimeter and make sure no foreign signal would bypass our protocol.

**********

It was difficult finding his way around the dark passages down here. Worst of all, he had no idea if another creature was residing here. At least he had his sound enhancers with him, that way, he was certain not to run towards the bad guys or any other thing producing the slightest movement or vibration.

Even though he had a flashlight in his backpack, it was useless because that would only draw unwanted attention to himself.

He kept on taking turns upon turns around the bunk, bumping into stuffs once in a while, not to forget the pungent stench being emitted from whatever it was that was left down here by whoever or rather whatever. Perhaps there were dead animals here too.

*************

Finally, inside the underground bunker, it was pretty dark, but it was not difficult finding my way around because I had night vision glasses with me.

Looking around, I noticed that this place was surely an abandoned military base or something, well that was an added advantage to me because the place was like a maze and I had the Satellite image of its blueprints.

'Oh! did I mention that I am able to track the whereabouts of any person using their DNA?'

Yea, a few months after I left the aviation industry, because of boredom I indulged myself in a lot of discoveries, one of which was genetics, which included being able to track somebody by their DNA, so I don't need to bug anybody as long as I can lay my hands on their corresponding DNA sample.

For doctor Murphy, he is my mentor, or rather "was" my mentor, so it's obvious that I'll have his DNA sample with me, which came in handy right now.

My plan was to extract him as quickly and quietly as possible.

I followed the red dot on my watch that indicated Dr Murphy's location, well I could see the other men's movement too through infra-red sensors. So I proceeded with caution.

**************

He closed the door behind him as he stepped into another room, pulled out his flashlight, finally to scrutinize the arena. He noticed that he was in what looked like a kitchen, because of all the aluminum utensils and spatulas hanging left and right on the walls, shelves, and other stuff scattered all around here and there, but he still found a spot to settle his butt. He leaned his head back to relax.

He was lost in thought, momentarily forgetting that he was being chased. He jolted up, when he heard approaching footsteps, well his reaction time was pretty slow because the door barged open with a loud bang.

He just remained rooted to the spot where he was seated behind the slab.

He heard the footsteps closing up really fast, but just before the person could take a turn facing his hiding spot ...

"We lost radio contact." Another voice called from the door.

"How is that possible??." The owner of the voice beside him said. "What are you waiting for?" go check it out.

As soon as the voices faded, he waited a while before moving, he knew that staying there would only get him caught.

He bumped into someone as soon as he stepped out of the door.

************

I held my breath when the foreign heat sensors closed up on Dr Murphy's location, I knew I had to move fast, as fast as possible___ I was still a good distance away." How big is this place"? I murmured.

Checking my monitor, I noticed Dr Murphy moving, I increased my pace too.

"Doc, nice to finally meet you", I said as soon as he bumped into my chest.

"Looks like you've become famous," I added.

"Oh my God!!!!" He gasped in relief, "What took you so long, kid?" He said placing a hand on my shoulder while trying to catch his breath.

"Ummm.... why are you breathing so hard when you have been literally sitting for the past ten minutes?" I asked with raised brows.

"You scared me, god damnit !!!!" he snapped.

"Let's get moving," I said.

We took just a couple of steps forward ___ but stopped. In front of us stood a huge guy in black, pointing his flashlight straight at us, with a gun in his other hand.

I thought of running in the opposite direction, but I knew it'd be a dead end. The only way out was through him, and that's that.

"I hate metals," I said with zero enthusiasm, breaking the silence.

"Oh you mean this"?? the huge guy asked while flipping his gun in the air. "What is your name kid"? he asked me

I stayed silent, pushing Dr Murphy behind me to shield him____not that I was bulletproof though.

"Doc there", he said pointing behind me, "has something that we want, we just need it, so step out of the way kid". He said.
