One: Prologue

"Tenchi, Shoto, wake up. It's time to eat," mother whispered into our crib.

Mother always has a scared look on her face whenever she's around the giant fire mustache man. I know he is our Father, but I can see that he doesn't see us as his children. From what I've gathered, my family consists of 7 people: Father, mother, brother Toya, sister Fuyumi, brother Natsuo, my twin brother Shoto and me, Tenchi.

Whenever Father is home, Toya will be training with Father. Mother always cries whenever that happens, and Father raises his voice anytime he sees weakness. He says Shoto should be his masterpiece and will become the number one hero.

Toya hates Shoto with a burning passion because Father pays more attention to Shoto than him. I can tell Toya wants Father's approval anytime he trains to be a "hero".

Fuyumi is nice, but she's too submissive. She can tell that training and being around Father has hurt Toya, but she never expresses her opinion. Natsuo doesn't understand yet, but he can understand enough to stay away from his Father.

I had heard Father yelling at Toya for training even though Toya's fire quirk was burning him. Toya has a fire quirk but doesn't have resistance against fire. Instead, he has resistance against ice. Father wants his child to become the number 1 hero with a fire and ice quirk. Shoto has both our Father's and mother's traits on his right and left sides, respectively.

Father stated, "The world favors the strong. But, with your quirk harming you, you'll never become number 1."

Shoto is still a baby, so he doesn't recognize his surroundings yet. Even though I don't like my Father, I agree that the stronger you are, the more power you have. I don't want Father to influence Shoto when we grow older as he did to Toya. To do that, I need to convince Father that Shoto is unneeded. Father would focus on me if I were to be stronger than Shoto.
