Second wave (2)

Legion charges forward, leading the charge as they tackle the nearest skeletons. Their movements are fluid, each anticipating the other's actions. Legion strikes first, a powerful downward slash that cleaves through the torso of a skeleton, sending it toppling over. As it falls, Kyree follows up immediately, thrusting his sword into its ribcage, shattering the bones within.

I haven't felt this in a while. My body cooperating with me and the memory movements of my former self merging with this one.

Progress.

Another skeleton lunges at them, swinging its sword with deadly precision. Legion sidesteps just in time, his instincts honed from years of fighting. "Now!" he shouts, and Kyree pivots, slicing through the air with his blade, catching the skeleton's arm mid-swing.

The skeletal warrior drops its weapon, and Legion seizes the moment, driving his sword through its skull.

Even better.

With each kill, their coordination grows sharper. They communicate with quick glances and subtle movements, no longer needing words to understand each other. Kyree rolls beneath a skeleton's sweeping strike, coming up behind it.

"Legion!" he calls, and Legion spins, catching the skeleton's head with a powerful kick that sends it crashing to the ground.

The battlefield is a whirlwind of motion, their combined strength overwhelming the skeleton horde. Legion's burning blue eyes scan for the next target, spotting a trio of skeletons advancing toward a wounded person.

"Let's take them down!" he declares, charging ahead.

Got it!" Kyree responds, falling in step beside him.

hey approach the trio, Legion launching into the fray first. He slashes at the leftmost skeleton, his blade slicing cleanly through its neck. As it crumples, Kyree darts in, using the momentum to drive his sword through the second skeleton's ribcage, shattering it.

Just one remains. The last skeleton snarls, its empty gaze locking onto Legion. It lunges forward, swinging wildly. Legion dodges to the side, his heart racing. "Now, Kyree!" he yells.

Kyree steps in, his blood-infused sword morphing into a jagged blade that cuts through the air. He slashes diagonally, catching the skeleton off-guard and sending it crashing to the ground. A glowing red orb escapes its remains, floating toward the larger orb, marking their victory in defeating them.

"Three down!" Kyree exclaims.

"Keep it up!" Legion urges, adrenaline surging through him. They push forward, encountering more skeletons, their confidence growing with each victory.

Together, they form a rhythm, a deadly dance of strikes and counters. Legion leads the charge, cutting through the skeletal warriors, while Kyree follows closely, picking off any that slip through the cracks. With each fallen enemy, the orb swells, which signals that all of this isn't for nothing.

We're doing it, defeating them…

His chest ripples with slight pain but he doesn't take it on, how could they're close with only a few more monsters to go and they would finish this wave, but his body pains him, he feels though anytime he stops, it would be his last time fighting, and his entire system would completely shut down.

And even Kyree can feel the exhaustion coming over him, every inch of his body trembles as more skeletons continue to appear, the people around them aren't spared either, most of them dead, barely clinging to life or trying their best to hold up.

I guess my body isn't like before, I'm still weak and get exhausted easily.

We have so much to go too.

His vision weaves in and out as he can barely grip onto his sword. "Kyree, wrap it around my hand." He struggles to even speak.

Looking over, he realises what he's talking about and puts out his hands using his blood to chain Legions hands down to his sword. "I don't…Think."

"It's fine." He steps forward. "I'll try to finish it off." He clenches onto his chest.

I have siblings to take care of. I have a village to help and a goal to achieve. There's no way I'm dying in some dungeon to weak skeletons, because of some weak body. I use it.

I'll use the movements of my past self to guid this body. Even if it hurts me.

Legion feels the surge of energy coursing through him, igniting a primal instinct that drives him forward. He can almost hear the voice of his former self, guiding his movements as if he were a puppet dancing on strings. But with each strike, he feels the toll it takes on his body.

"Not now," he grunts, pushing past the pain that flares in his muscles. He doesn't have the luxury of rest, not when the enemy looms closer.

He launches himself into the next battle, his blade dancing in a blur as he attacks relentlessly. Each swing feels lighter than air, the memories of a masterful warrior propelling him forward. But with every strike, he can feel his muscles protesting, fibers tearing and bones creaking under the pressure.

"More!" he roars, thrusting his sword through another skeleton, feeling the satisfying crunch as it collapses. But his body is beginning to falter; the pain intensifies, a burning sensation spreading through his limbs.

I'm not going to die again, Give me more!!!

Legion pushes through, gritting his teeth as he charges at the next skeleton. He leaps, spinning in the air to deliver a downward strike, but a sharp pain shoots through his side as he lands awkwardly, his ankle twisting painfully.

"Ugh!" he gasps, the world blurring around the edges as the agony floods through him. Yet, he refuses to relent. Drawing on the memory of his past battles, he lets it guide him, even as his body threatens to betray him.

Humans might call me weak, monsters might call me food or useless, but I'll show them all! I will become stronger than before!

He sprints forward, ignoring the jarring pain in his ankle, using his speed to close the distance to another opponent. The skeletal warrior swings its sword, but Legion is quicker, ducking beneath the blade and driving his sword upward with all his might.

The moment he strikes, he feels a sharp crack in his wrist, a warning of the damage he's inflicting upon himself. "Keep going," he mutters, forcing his body to move despite the agony that now radiates through his arms.

"He's destroying himself!" Cinder tries to go to him, but Kyree grabs onto his leg.

"No. Leave him." Kyree says but his eyes aren't leaving Legion. "Let him do this."

With each fallen enemy, the toll on his body grows heavier. Blood seeps from his palms where the sword's hilt digs into his skin, and the muscles in his legs scream in protest as he continues to push forward, fueled by sheer will and the haunting whispers of his past self.

I can never be shoji again! I am Legion! And I will do something great! No betrayal will bring me down again! That's a promise!
