Chapter 9: Exam Results

The entrance exam had come and gone in what felt like minutes. For Yahari, the day he had spent three months preparing for wasn't as grueling as he had imagined. He realized that his current self could handle it, whereas nine months ago, even one robot would have been a challenge.
As the exhaustion faded, Yahari wiped the sweat from his forehead with his right hand and whispered to himself, "All that intense training wasn't for nothing. These nine months paid off, Grandpa." He clenched his fist, feeling the lingering droplets of sweat between his fingers. "My muscles are stronger, just like Grandpa said, but my stamina still needs work. I get tired too quickly. I barely destroyed 25 robots… probably not enough to take the top spot. But maybe top ten—I'll settle for that, for now."
The students, Yahari included, were soon gathered by the instructor overseeing Area B. The teacher commended their efforts and explained when and how their exam results would be delivered by email. Those accepted into UA were instructed to start thinking about their hero costumes, which the academy would design and manufacture for them. He also advised the students to include notes about their quirks to ensure the costumes matched their abilities perfectly.
Yahari was impressed by the level of detail UA Academy put into every step. The entire exam, both written and practical, was meticulously organized. Everything was on point.
As the days passed and Yahari returned home, the anticipation of the results hung over him for two long weeks. His parents were a constant support system, reminding him of how well he had done throughout the past nine months. The night before the results were due, his mother reassured him again, her smile warm and comforting. "You've done so well, Yahari. No matter what happens, we're proud of you."
Yahari nodded with quiet confidence. "I'm not worried about failing. I already know I'm a UA student."
That evening, during dinner, Yahari's phone buzzed with an email notification. He glanced at the screen, and even before opening it, he caught sight of the word "Congratulations." A grin spread across his face as he announced to his parents, "I've been accepted into the best hero academy in Japan."
A wave of joy swept through the house. His parents beamed with pride, embracing him and celebrating his achievement with laughter and excitement.
After the family celebration, Yahari retreated to his room to carefully read through the email. It contained details about when classes would start and instructions for submitting his hero costume design. He was also asked to provide his height and weight for the standard school uniform. Classes would begin in a week, and his uniform would be delivered to their home so he could wear it on the first day.
Yahari was thrilled to learn that he had been placed in Class 1-A and had ranked third in the entrance exam. The email ended with more congratulations and a reminder that additional information would be provided upon his arrival at UA.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, Yahari allowed himself a moment of satisfaction. He had done it. He had made it into UA Academy. But the real journey was only beginning.

The week of waiting flew by, and soon, the day had arrived for Yahari to start his first day at UA Academy. He woke to the sound of his alarm, excitement buzzing through him as he got ready for the big day. After donning his freshly delivered school uniform and grabbing his bag, he left his house, ready for what lay ahead.
The walk to the train station was filled with eager anticipation. Boarding the train, Yahari glanced around at the other students, all lost in their own thoughts, likely nervous about their own first day. The city's usual morning rush went unnoticed by Yahari as his mind raced ahead to what awaited him at UA.
Upon arriving at the academy gates, Yahari paused for a moment, staring up at the impressive structure before him. His heart raced with excitement as he crossed the threshold, joining the stream of new students. The hallways were abuzz with activity, and Yahari navigated them, searching for Class 1-A.
After a few minutes of walking, he found the classroom. Yahari took a deep breath before pushing open the door, stepping inside to meet his new peers. The room was filled with fresh faces—students from all walks of life, each eager to begin their journey as future heroes. Some were already talking, breaking the ice and getting to know each other.
Yahari found an empty seat and settled in, scanning the room as he did. Just as he was about to introduce himself to the student next to him, the door opened once again, and in walked their homeroom teacher, Aizawa-sensei. He carried a stack of uniforms, his expression serious and focused.
"Good morning, everyone," Aizawa-sensei began, his calm yet commanding voice capturing the room's attention. "Welcome to Class 1-A. Today, we'll start with a simple task. Change into these training uniforms and head to the grounds. I want to assess your abilities."
Excitement rippled through the room as the students grabbed their uniforms and quickly changed. Yahari, now dressed in his athletic gear, followed the others out of the classroom, his anticipation growing with each step toward the training grounds. He was ready for whatever challenge awaited, eager to test his strength and forge bonds with his new classmates.
The next phase of his journey was about to begin.
