Eye's From Above

Somewhere in a remote place outside the mansion of Krome…

"Thanks, Mom, for doing this with me." I embarrassingly said that in front of Exia.

"It's just exciting that you finally called me Mom for the first time in forever. Plus, I always love to support my daughter on her endeavors. Also, this IS part of the operation to keep the target alive anyways.

And another good thing we've actually been keeping an eye out for Krome's parents especially their business deals outside the country. So this isn't all too far off from our forte. To be exact, if I have to explain it, I've been waiting to get a hit on their company for a long time now." Exia replied.

"So two birds with one stone huh." I sighed.

"Exactly, seems like they're planning to get serious with you guys. Now since you're the biggest threat to them since you could handle his goons. He plans to attack the other members of your club from the looks of it. I could wiretap them but that would be easy for us." Exia using the viewfinder.

Let's get some context first before we continue on hand… A few hours earlier…

"So you're telling me that you ask for support? For what though?" Exia asked.

It was the weekend after what happened earlier so Exia stayed at my apartment.

"I want to learn some information about a potential enemy of our objective. You got anything about them?" I threw their calling card on the table towards her.

She immediately picks up the card and thinks for a second. Until she stood up and grabbed her back filled with documents.

"Wait, you carry all of that everyday???" I asked.

"Yes, I do. You never know when these documents become important someday. But first before we could talk about details I have a favor for you to do for me." Exia smugly places the folder under elbows while being smug.

I have a bad feeling about this…

"What's with the face? I'm not making you weird or obscure. What kind of mother would I be if I asked you that?" Exia recoiled back after making a face.

"Anyways what do you want me to do then? We don't have much time before they roll out." I replied.

"Exactly hence I just ask for something simple really. Call me Mom for the rest of the day, is that okay?" Asked Exia.

"It's not that I have a choice to decline right? Mom…" I embarrassingly replied.

I saw Exia jolted as if something in her opened up. Maybe because it's been a while since I last called her Mom. Well it's for the sake of the mission I have to do this. It shouldn't be hard right?

Exia… I mean Mom suddenly hugged me out of pure joy. I guess she deserves it this time. She was my beloved mother after all.

"Anyway's Bea, give me more details and I can support you. Or even better I can come with you. I know where their mansions are." Joyously suggested Exia.

"I mean you know more about his family so I thought you could have more details that I have since you are still my superior, Mom." I responded.

"That is true. Don't worry about the details later. I'll bring the documents with me so let's go find this kid." Exia grabbed the folders and pulled me outside from the window.

I never gave anymore details about Exia other than she is my adoptive mother. Well she is the one who raised me into a mage destined for battle and protecting people from any form of harm that could happen to anyone out there.

She is also my superior at work where she handles me as a single unit group. She taught me how to use Body Magic well and effectively without learning any of the history or reason for it. Maybe because it streamlines the learning experience so I learned more useful techniques than textbook theories.

She also taught me everything I needed to know about CQC and many forms of combat with or without technology. I don't know anything more than that except that she took me in after my mother died.

And she promised to protect me at all costs as well. But I have a mission that does the same thing. Also usually on missions she stays at the office not with me all the time. But in recent times she has been with me for most of my time out here now.

After that we return to the present time.

"Can you tell me more about Krome's family, Mom?" I asked.

"Krome's family is a famed bloodline of inventors and geniuses but over the last decade or two their current head of their family has become a bit more egoistic recently. It may not be public info but he has been supplying terrorists overseas with weapons for their own wars.

Plus currently they have tech being used in our own military. Those who are sold overseas to the terrorists go by another name. So basically they supply both sides to entice war between them to profit from the suffering of the innocent people becoming collateral damage." Mom replied being a bit disgusted.

"Sounds like they're serious business they're in." I replied.

"If you're thinking of exposing them, don't you just become another competitor in their eyes and try to erase you from this world. But we could do something about their current successor, as you know, is Krome." Mom answered back.

"So what's our move now that we know he's plotting to attack my friends and our objective?" I asked.

"For now, do your best to protect them from harm's way as much as possible. I'll handle anything big and inform you if there's a serious case." Mom replied.

"Wait… What are you telling me, Mom?" I asked.

"I'm telling you to sit back for now. Let your mother do the dirty work while you focus more on protecting Elizabeth. I won't let my daughter be out there and ignore her objective right?" Mom replied.

"Okay…" I sighed.

"It's alright that you stay the way you are. Don't worry, focus more on how you protect the rest of your classmates and friends. I fear something's gonna come really soon…" Mom squints her eyes as she looks off into the sky.

After we collected intel from Krome's house by wiretapping. We returned to my apartment to do some ground rules for the upcoming days.

"Bea, wear this ring. It's a special magic artifact that lets me communicate directly to you via our thoughts. Don't worry it disappears once you wear it. Now for the ground rules, this is important to keep our plans at bay and organized.

First things first I'll be your eyes in the sky. Since we're taking this a bit seriously now, after all you've become close to Elizabeth so you have a connection with her which is nice. I'll tell you important details and updates once I find them. Be sure to be alert at all times for my messages.

Second, make sure you have this at hand at all times when things go extremely sideways. Use this special drug to put Elizabeth and the others into sleep. Secure them into a safe place before engaging if you already know the drill. Use this when it's extremely necessary or when you engage the enemy while in the premise of Elizabeth.

Third, as your mother I take priority that you have to be safe at all times. So don't be shy of calling me out for help. Of course make it discreet when you ask for help. Are we clear?" Mom finished instructing me the rules for tomorrow.

"Loud and clear." I responded.

"Alright, oh, and by the way there's curry on the stove, just reheat it okay?" Mom points at the kitchen as she leaves.

Alright I guess that's that for tonight. We have a potential rival that might interfere with our objective, possibly become one of our enemies if he does something stupid. I doubt anything too much Krome could do to attack the club.

While I thought about this I ate curry for dinner. And kept on thinking of the possible things that could happen on the upcoming days. While I was eating I also realized… What if she was attacked directly at her house?

"Bea stop thinking too much about this. I'll handle it, don't worry." Mom somewhat talked to me in my head.

"Don't say you already forgot that you have a ring that connects our minds so that we can communicate through our thoughts." Okay this is weird but sure Mom.

"Alright sweetie just finish eating and sleep, you have school tomorrow."

After that I removed the ring for tonight and headed to sleep. Today I got to call Exia, Mom again after a few years of being a professional. I guess this is what happens if you mix your work and your youth.

It's pretty hectic, is what I realized how I've been living differently from normal people.

Thanks for picking up this new chapter!
