Jacob Fireseed

Ryder took a second to look at the arrogant noble, he could see the disdain this boy had for him just from looking into their eyes.

"A lesson huh? Fine, I accept. However we have yet to see who will be teaching who something today"

The young noble scoffed at his reply, just a look at Ryder made him remember how he was so close with the princess which made him sick.

"Go and get your weapon already, I don't have time to stand here all day waiting for you"

The boy stayed calm controlling his emotions as he watched Ryder grab a wooden sword from a rack at the side of the field before heading over to a empty spot waiting for the noble.

"What are you doing? You asked me to spar and yet you don't get your weapon or get into position. It looks like your wasting your own time"

A couple people who saw this scene chuckled a little before covering their mouths trying to catch themselves from laughing at a noble.

"Like I would need a weapon against you, you are just a commoner who got a little more lucky then others. Don't go getting ahead of yourself or I will personally have to knock you down a peg trash!"

He stood opposite Ryder pulling his left hand up close to his face while keeping his right out in front of him.

Upon seeing his opponent getting ready he quickly stabbed the wooden sword into the grass before stepping forward getting into a fully open stance with basically no guard, his arms had been in key points one right over his opponents heart while the other stayed free and flowing able to react at a moments notice.

"If that's how you want to fight then I'll even the playing field. I don't want you to go around telling people the only reason you lost was because I had a weapon"

Ryder had also thought back to the knights code, he felt like he had picked the honorable choice however he didn't have much time to think with his opponent running towards him!

The boy immediately threw his left fist forward in a jabbing motion before trying to move into Ryder's space to hopefully push him off balance.

Unfortunately the jab was thrown off course with just a simple tap from his right hand as Ryder side stepped the step forward just to react with a right hook under the boys extended arm.

He was slightly shocked at the sudden movements, he was forced to duck under the hook only to be met with Ryder's knee slamming into his nose forcing the boy to take a step back.

His eyes watered making it harder to see however Ryder took full advantage of this moment. He grabbed onto the boys clothes forcing him to come back into Ryder's range before throwing his right with his elbow kept near his belly button connecting with a cross making the boys head turn and whip back after taking the full force of Ryder's fist.

For a second the boy lost consciousness, his eyes were lightless before suddenly regaining their light before becoming enraged!

'What was that!? This guy… he was able to see my movements and even plan ahead! I guess the disciple of the sword saint can't be someone weak after all!'

Even in this moment he didn't want to admit that Ryder was talented. He felt like everything the boy has is all because of luck! He was picked up by the royal family and because he was at the right place at the right time he became Sirius's student. He believed that the only reason he is losing is because of the sword Saint.

"Don't get ahead of your self!"

Though the boy didn't have a strong physique like Ryder he wasn't a slouch. He also had a silver rank body however it was only at 1 star same with his Soul Realm.

The boy quickly yelled out after regaining consciousness before hitting Ryder's arm away and with a burst of Soul Force his speed increased catching Ryder off guard with a kick to the chest followed up with 3 small fireballs flying through the air right about to connect.

Ryder allowed his body to get launched back the moment he got kicked lessening the damage just to reach out grabbing the wooden sword close by just to swing it out with one hand deflecting the fireballs into the air and away from his body.

"Since it seems you want to use Soul Force for this spar I'll have to get a little more serious. Now are you going to have a real fight with me? Or are you going to still stick to this ridiculous thought that you can fight me without a weapon?"

'He blew away that attack as if it was nothing… it looks like if I want to win I'll have to get serious'

"Hey Daki, get me a spear!"

"Yes sir!"

One of the children from the group suddenly dashed for the weapons pulling out a staff that seemed to have been carved into a spear however the tip was cut off making it a slightly modified staff.

The commoner ran back to the nobles side kneeling before him as he holds up the "spear"

"My name is Jacob Fireseed, I fight for the pride of the nobles under lady Kaylee as well as for my own pride as a man!"

'I see… I guess this is why master said arrogance is dangerous not to one's enemies but to yourself. Let's see if I can't change that nasty attitude of yours!'

"My name is Ryder Night, I fight for my future and my pride. Today I will show everyone that I will not back down from a challenge!"

His golden aura appeared around his body before entering his wooden sword also giving it a golden glow.

Opposite him Jacob stood with his spear out surrounded in a deep red fiery aura before it flared up and off his figure quickly a small fire spirit appeared on his left shoulder looking at Ryder with a hateful expression.

Seeing the Avatar Ryder instantly shot him an annoyed look, it was just yesterday that Ryder had activated his Pseudo Avatar and still had less then half of his Soul Force left.

'This should be a interesting challenge at least!'

However as soon as Ryder was about to lunge at Jacob going in to try and get the first hit he saw Jacob reaching for his fire spirit.

At first he thought the boy was about to use some kind of Avatar Art using his spirit. To his surprise Jacob dismissed his avatar making Ryder look at him with a questioning gaze.

"You have your own honor I have mine. If I was to use my Avatar against someone who can't manifest their own it would be a disgrace to my family! I am the son of the noble household Fireseed! I will not dishonor my family!"

Fire surrounded Jacob as he molds them into arrows pointing at Ryder.

"However, at your current level you should be able to easily use soul force techniques like this!"

He rushed forward, his spear head always pointing towards his opponents upper half or sky as the flaming arrows began to fly through the air towards Ryder.

Ryder watched Jacob's every move as well as the arrows that flew towards him. He quickly weaved his body through the many arrows, dodging some while deflecting others. Of course with his current speed he couldn't help but get hit by some of the arrows.

Shaking it off he jumped over an arrow and the thrust of a spear just to land on the spear head forcing it into the ground before slashing from above directly towards Jacob's head.

The latter quickly released the spear just to jump forward planting a flaming fist directly into Ryder's ribs before getting hit in the back by the blade of the wooden sword.

Both boys coughed up a little blood before going in for another blow!

Jacob using his leg to roll the staff disrupting Ryder's next move just to kick the spear up into his hand and use it to slash at Ryder which was blocked by his sword.

Both of them were at a stalemate, one having more Soul Force then the other while the other had a stronger body! Both of them battled like this even while some were breaking away from the group to go to their next class.

Neither of the boys seemed to mind though, their eyes filled with determination while their expressions was nothing but happiness.

'Why… why is this fight so much fun!?'

'What is this feeling… it feels great! I almost never want to stop fighting!'

Both boys had clashed once more, each of them now becoming more and more bruised as time went on. Eventually the last person still standing in the field was Kaylee who went back to find Ryder.

"What are you two doing!? We still have classes today remember!"

They looked over to her, then back at each other. They paused for a second before laughing at their situation.

'No matter what I did… I couldn't take him down. Maybe there is something more then just luck to Ryder…'

'He is a tough opponent that is for sure, however it seems like he isn't as bad as I thought he was'

"Ryder, we will call this a draw for now. The next time we fight I want to see how much you have grown since now. We will fight at the end of the year evaluation, you can count on that!"

With a flick of the wrist his spear was flipped grabbing it now in a throwing position he hurled it towards the weapon pile that had formed when some of the students panicked and quickly threw there weapons away to run to their next class.

The spear dug into the ground at the center of the pile as Jacob turns toward the library and walks away.

Ryder on the other hand ran over to the weapon rack placing the sword he borrowed back as he looked to the pile of weapons with a sigh.

'I feel like we are going to be getting yelled at tomorrow'

"Come on Ryder! We are late!"

She grabbed his hand forcibly pulling him away as they ran towards their next class.
