Benjamin was about to leave. He just came to show he had no hard feelings. It was not because he liked or appreciated Russell's friendship. But because they knew about their situation. It would be terrible if Richard let everybody know and for sure, Fanny would decline his marriage proposal.

"It is so boring." Fanny whispered to him. She was in good company. He was quite happy with the arrangement. When he looked at her faster, he could think it was Louisa. The girl came from the countryside too, worked, was blond, had fair skin and almost the same height. It wouldn't be difficult to imagine she was someone else.

He knew it was a bad thing to do. But he had to marry. Why not her? She liked him and he didn't have to force himself on her, like he would have to do with Phoebe. He just hoped Phoebe would be able to or not marry or find a suitable match who could understand her. That would be too sad if she married someone mean to her.

"I agree. Do you want to leave?" He said.
