Protests Prelude

(29th February 2004)

On 29th February, the protest for Kashmiri Hindus, titled 'We Want Justice' started in Jantar Mantar, and will go to the Tilak Marg, where Supreme Court is situated. The protesters won't enter the premises of Supreme Court's jurisdiction, but protest outside peacefully.

As of now, 47,896 individual cases have been registered by survivors who fled their homes.

Cases are against 1,69,678 neighbours of the survivors who either killed their loved ones, or chased them away from their homes.

Cases against 3,673 mosques have been registered to call for violence and genocide, and faciliating the genocide. This includes all the maulanas working in the mosques as well.

Cases against Farooq Abdullah, Mahbuba Mufti, Omar Abdullah, Yusuf, and 465 politicians were also registered.

Cases were filed against 13 government employees and 45 Congress politicians as well.

Moreover, for the first time in history, PIL was filed even against the judges of the Supreme Court who have denied opening each and every cases, including the Chief Justice. By 30,000 people, through 12 lawyers, who will most likely lose their license.

"If I can file a case against the President, why can't against the Chief Justice? He is of lower ranking than the president."

One day before the start of the protest, Supreme Court accepted to hear 5 cases, which included one against Farooq Abdullah.

But the protest wasn't going to stop until each and every case and PILs are opened. And removal of any option of bail on these cases. Or, if bail is given, they aren't to be allowed back in Jammu and Kashmir unless they are proven innocent.

This time, the security is tight, and only 50 members of BP are protesting in Tilak Marg, and fast without food and water until Supreme Court agrees to hear each and every case related to this, and promises judgement within two years.
