Never Better

The next morning, Penelope was jittery. She had an even harder time focusing on work than she had the day before. The first couple of hours before her break were a complete blur. 

Once she was free, she tracked down Ben to tell him she was quitting. He didn't seem very happy but also didn't seem terribly surprised. 

"Where's your new job?" he asked. 

"Orchard Books. I'm going to be part of the team that designs book covers. I studied graphic design in college before I had to drop out so this is what I've always wanted to do," Penelope said a bit defensively. 

Her other self was too talented to have spent the past six years of her life wasting away at a dead end job. She deserved to be in the field she had wanted to be a part of since she was a kid.
