Chapter 16: Elder Domo of the Mecillius Branch Alchemy Tower

" Thank you for your time Mayor Lucille " Kane said as he walks of Lucille's office.

' so I need to get my badge from the Alchemy Tower and Beast Breeding Hall before I open my shop, how come opening a shop is so troublesome ' Kane thought to himself as he leave the Town Hall.

Lucille who is now holding a piece of paper smiled. " What an interesting kid " Lucille said and on his left chest a golden colored badge with a Four Pillar symbol carved into it under the pillar symbol is "V" which is the number five written in Roman numerals. It is the badge given to Beast Breeder Members and the number under the symbol represents their status inside the faction.

Alchemy Tower also give badges to their members and their badges have the symbol of a cauldron and under the symbol is also where the tier of the member is written.

" Mayor Lucille gave me a map to one of the nearby towns where a branch of Alchemy Tower and Beast Breeding Hall can be found " Kane said as he hold the map.

" When can I open my beast shop?! " Kane said frustratingly as he lay down on his bed.

" I should go tomorrow so that I can finish this quickly " Kane said to himself, he plans to visit the Alchemy Tower and Beast Breeding Hall as soon as possible.

Morning came, Kane is already on the road to the branch of Alchemy Tower and Beast Breeding Hall located in a coastal town called Mecillius Port.

It is a two-week journey from Willow Town even with Cloud's tier 4 speed.

Just like before Kane and Cloud would spend the night camping and traveling during the day, Kane would read the Alchemy Grimoire and the Breeding Tome during his free time to increase his knowledge to prepare himself for the assessment.

Two weeks have gone by and they finally arrived at the Port Town of Mecillius.

" Ahhhh, the smell of the sea " Kane said as he inhale.

" This is your first time seeing the ocean right? " Kane asked Cloud.

* Roaaar* Cloud answered.

" Don't worry, after our business here I will take you out to play in the water " Kane said as he pet Cloud.

They quickly headed straight to the Alchemy Tower since he wants to finish it early plus he is more confident in his Alchemy Skills than his Beast Inspection Skill.

Kane entered a twenty-storey tower while holding Cloud which is in cub form, the Alchemy Tower is the tallest structure in this town so looking for it is easy.

" Hello sir, how may I help you? " A lady asks.

" Ahh, I'm here for an assessment " Kane answered.

" I see, what's your name? " The lady asked as she pulled out a booklet.

" Kane, just Kane " Kane answered.

" I'm sorry sir but your name is not on the list of those who will take the assessment today, " the lady said.

" Aahhh so I need to make an appointment first " Kane said to himself.

" Can you do something and put me on the list of those taking their assessment today? " Kane asked.

" I'm sorry but I can't do anything about it " The lady said.

" Hmmp! Look at this idiot trying to force his way " a voice suddenly sounded.

Kane turned around and saw a young man wearing luxurious-looking clothes.

" Oh, sir Kenny, welcome " the lady said respectfully.

" I'm here for the assessment, " the young man named Kenny said.

" Okay sir, follow me " the lady said, she left Kane alone, right now Kane is standing in the giant hall of the Tower all alone, but he didn't leave, he plans to wait for the lady to come back, but he still has the Alchemy Grimoire, and if what Lucille told him is true he will be able to take the assessment today.

A few minutes later the lady came back.

" You're still here? " She asked.

" Of course, I plan to take the assessment today " Kane said with a smile.

" I already told you that you cannot, I can make an appointment for you but you will have to wait for other people to take the assessment with you, and that takes months " the lady explained.

" Can I use this to take the assessment today?" Kane said as he presented the Alchemy Grimoire to the lady.

Her eyes widen in shock.

" Where did you get this? " She asked.

" The person who taught me Alchemy gave this to me " Kane explained.

" This, I will have to report to the elder, wait here for a minute " the lady left with the Alchemy Grimoire in her hands.

A few minutes later she came back with an old man wearing a purple robe.

" Are you the young man who brought this? " the old man asked Kane.

" Yes, sir " Kane answered.

" Is it true that this is given to you by the person who taught you Alchemy? " The old man asked again.

" Yes, sir " Kane quickly answered.

" Hmmmm, whether it is true or not, that this Grimoire is given to you by the person who taught you, is must follow the rules " the old man said. " Come, follow me I will be the one to conduct your assessment " the old man added.

Kane follows him silently.

They passed through corridors and they arrived in front of a tall door.

" Follow me inside " The old man said.

He put his hand on the door and it opened even without exerting great force.

Inside the room, there are at least twenty young people waiting and one of them is the young man named Kenny.

The youths inside quickly saw the old man and they all bowed and greeted the old man.

" Elder Domo " they all said in unison.

" Good day, elder, my father sends his thanks for your help last time " the young man named Kenny said as he approached the Elder.

" Hmmm, I am just doing what I am paid to do " Elder Domo said.

" My family will be hosting a banquet tomorrow night, my father hopes that you could come " Kenny said.

" I will try " Elder Domo said.

" Now if you all will excuse me, I'll go ahead, someone will come here shortly to conduct your assessment, " Elder Domo said.

He then walk towards another room and Kane followed him.

" Hey, you! What are you doing here?! " Kenny asked when he saw Kane was about to follow Elder Domo.

" I'm with the Elder " Kane simply answered.

" Who do you think you are... " Kenny was about to say more words to Kane when Elder Domo's voice sounded.

" What are doing over there, come here so that we can go through your assessment already " Elder Domo said towards Kane.

" Yes Elder " Kane said and he quickly went towards the Elder's direction.

Kenny and the other youths inside couldn't believe what they saw, Elder Domo rarely appears in public unless he needs to, and now he is conducting an assessment for a young man who does not even look that special.

Kenny who is berating Kane earlier is the person who couldn't believe it the most, his father put great effort to make friends with Elder Domo in hopes of creating a solid foundation for him when he entered the Alchemy Tower, but the Elder is a tough nut to crack, he won't budge with lavish gifts and even rare Alchemy materials, but now he will be conducting an assessment for a random nobody.

Kenny didn't say a word he just gritted his teeth and stared hatefully at Kane's back.

Kane followed Elder Domo into a room and what he saw surprised him greatly.

" Holy shit " Kane cursed under his breath.

" Impressive right? " Elder Domo asked.

" Yes sir, no Alchemist wouldn't be impressed " Kane said.

His words made the Elder smile.

They are now inside an Alchemy room, and it has all the tools and equipment that an Alchemist would need and from Kane's observation everything here is of high level and high quality, he can only imagine the price of everything inside this room.

" Now before we start your assessment let me ask you a few questions " Elder Domo said as he sat down on one of the chairs inside the room.

" Do you know the name of the person who taught you Alchemy? " the elder asked.

" Yes, sir " Kane answered.

" Can you tell me? " The elder asked.

Kane hesitated to tell Lily's name.

" Don't worry, you can trust me, plus the person who taught you Alchemy is also a member of the tower since an Alchemy Grimoire is only given to Tower members " Elder Domo explained.

" Lily, her name is Lily " Kane answered after hearing the Elder's words.

" From? " The elder asked.

" Redwoods Town " Kane answered.

" I see, so Lily huh? " The Elder said.

" Do you know her elder? " Kane asked since the elder seems like he knows Lily.

" Of course, I know her, I know almost all the Alchemist in this region, it is part of my job " the elder explained.

" I see " Kane said.

" Plus Lily is a talented Alchemist, even some people at the main tower are aware of her existence " the elder said.

Kane's eyes widened when he heard the elder, the Alchemy tower is an extremely large faction it is not an exaggeration to say that their influence spans across the whole world. And that the Main Tower is where the most important members of the tower are, and for them to know about Lily's existence is a piece of big news to Kane.

" Is she really that impressive? " Kane asked since the Lily he knows acts like just a normal person, she runs an Alchemy shop in a faraway town and it is not that big of a shop either.

" Of course she is, but we will talk about her the next time, or you can just ask her "The elder dismissed Kane's question.

" Now let me ask you, what is the current level of your Alchemy? " Elder Domo asked.

" Tier 1 sir but I can now form a tier 2 pill but they are still mediocre that they are unusable " Kane answered.

Elder Domo didn't appear to be impressed.

'Lily's student despite being at this age can only make tier 1 pill? ' the elder thought to himself.

" How long have you been learning Alchemy? " The elders asked a question.

" Three years sir " Kane answered, he is starting to get nervous since the elder's expression earlier looks like he was disappointed.

" I see, three years... Hmmm," the elder's eye suddenly widened. " Did you say three years?!" Elder Domo asked.

" Yes sir it took me three long years to be able to make tier 1 pills " Kane said and he sighed.

" Hahahahahahahaha, what a great day " the elder laughed loud.

Kane stared at the laughing old man confused.
