How to Become an Apex Being

What if you knew about the existence of energy and that the energy inside a human body can destroy a whole country if properly used(or should I say improperly), and that you can find loopholes in the body to use that energy, what would you have done ? This is the story of our MC, Achraf. A guy on the road to becoming an APEX. An independent existence, that can live without needing anything in this universe. Of course, the story isn't all about him. All the characters have a certain depth to their character and aren't just NPCs. And the story is gonna be a multilayered story with a lot of characters roaming around the world. It's my first time writing a novel, so if you have any remarks feel free to use the comment section to express those thoughts. *Warning* I use multiple POVs to make the story more interesting. The power system is logical and it has an origin, but you won't know the origin till later in the story.

3 The World's Best Translator !

After a long hug, my mom went out to tell the whole neighbor about my sudden change. I told her to not do that please, but she just didn't care. She was too delighted that I finally started returning to my usual self.

Now, it was just me and Saad in the room. Here comes the moment of truth, Saad really waited a long time before saying anything. I was nervously waiting.

A few moments later, he said "I know you saw and felt the magic I just used, and I know how weird it will sound when I say this, but I don't really know how to use magic."

He fell silent after that. The ambiance became unsettling. I was really confused, what does he mean he doesn't know how to use magic? I just saw him with my own eyes demonstrate it before me. Did he trick me? But how would he do that?

A lot of queries came to my mind and I started doubting my own senses.

"What I just showed you, was the single spell I've found after three years of research. I'm not sure if it used magical particles or something else, and its effect is light. It's like a trick that could be used when you want to convince someone. "

Aaaah, so he meant, he didn't know anything about magic other than this spell, what a relief, I thought all I'd seen today was nothing but a beautiful lie.

As I was thinking about that, I got curious and to ask him but as if he could read my mind said with a sad smile on his face, "No, I don't know the sense behind it, I just wanted to show it to you so you could know that there is something Supernatural about this world! There is HOPE!"

Surprisingly, I wasn't sad nor disappointed, I was just happy that this was all true and not just some other messed-up dream of mine.

I said trying to cheer him up, " Thank you so much for doing this for me, I don't know how much did it take you nor how hard was it to find this single spell, but what I know is that it was all I needed to live again!"

"And don't worry about not being able to clear it all up, I mean what would you leave for me to explore then? ". I said with a teasing expression on my face.

His expression became so much brighter and cheerful. He then stood up and said with a proud face "That's the least I can do for the son of my friend !" He then looked at my eyes and added with a smirk on his face." Or should I say my new best friend !"

He then explained to me what he did to execute the spell. It was pretty basic, he just said a few words in a weird South-African language while thinking about the emotion he wants to share. You need to have already written down a weird symbol in some ancient language on someplace in your body.

It can be used for a short time that doesn't surpass a minute, and after using it, you need at least two days to reuse it.

He then started talking about his journey around the continent and finding this spell written in a manuscript in a really old private library in Egypt. He already knew that language so it was easy for him to try it but he couldn't understand the meaning of the symbol.

I knew what I had to do, for now, I will study at the university 'Al Qarawiyine', I mean that's what I wanted before the accident. I'm gonna try my best to find any manuscripts related to 'Jennis', magic, or anything supernatural in general.

After two weeks, I went to 'Al Qarawiyine', it was in Fes, the same city I live in, so I didn't really have to move out, but I still wanted to do so.

I went living all by myself even tho I was still 13 and a half years old, my mom didn't want me to leave her side, but she knew that it was necessary for my growth to do that.

I lived in an old apartment that was owned by my dad. It was small but sufficient for me. It was a little bit dusty on the first day, but I cleaned the small house myself since I hated filth and dust.

I was still having nightmares about my father from time to time, but still, it wasn't as severe or brutal as before.

The university was old-fashioned, vast, and really cool. But, I didn't really care about anything but the library.

It was one of the world's oldest libraries, and it possessed a numerous number of old manuscripts, some of which are even written in unknown languages!

My first day there wasn't really that bad. Students and teachers were surprised to see a small kid on the campus, some of them even assumed I was waiting for a relative of mine.

After I was introduced to the staff by the director, I went straight up to the ancient library. On my way there, I felt the students admiring me and envying me. I felt a little bit proud but I knew better than becoming arrogant.

I finally arrived at the library. It was as I imagined it to be, with modest-sized tables in the middle, and a lot of wooden shelves around it.

The woody scent filled the place. The books on the front shelves weren't dusty surprisingly, contrary to the ones in the back but fortunately, none of them were moldy.

I saw a young teen, probably sixteen years old. He was reading patiently an ancient manuscript. I didn't wanna disturb him even tho I was curious as to why was he there.

I then went straight up to the rear shelves, and searched for a manuscript, they looked all ancient but none of them felt really important until I touched a dusty one that interested me, it had a mysterious, and creepy aura enveloping it.

I took it in my hands, tried to read it but unfortunately, I didn't understand a single word from it, but I knew that I needed to comprehend it, that it was crucial.

It had a lot of symbols so I believe it was written in an old language. I went to the tables, and sat there, trying to see if I could recognize the symbols and the characters from somewhere, to look it up, and know what language was, that to learn it and translate the document.

After a few minutes, the sixteen-year-old guy came to me and asked "Are you looking for a translator ?". And That's how I met the world's best translator, a linguistic genius.

Hey, I'll introduce the supernatural properly really soon so if you liked the story, add it to the library to motivate me : )
