Ch 4: Occamy

Lucius remembered the offering he had brought for Lorion to prove his allegiance. However, now this offering seems to turn to a gift he would give to his godchild.

"Lorion, I know that you, like your ancestors, are a Parseltongue. I heard from the warden that you are often surrounded by snakes. So, this is my gift for you. I asked a very close friend of mine for this egg, especially for you"

Saying so, Lucius took out an egg, which seemed to be made of pure silver. Lorion couldn't remember he saw anything like this in the Harry Potter movies before. Strangely, this pure silver egg was as big as an ostrich egg! Lorion took the egg from Lucius, guessing that the egg must be of an owl or a toad or a cat. After all Hogwarts only allowed these few animals in school, unless there is a special permission. Now, he knew cats didn't lay egg, but anything could happen in magic world right?

Just as Lorion was busy guessing the animal, Lucius took out a glass tube with green liquid in it. Looking at Lorion holding the egg, Lucius said "Pour this liquid on the egg. It should do the trick."

Lorion nodded and did as instructed. Soon, the egg started cracking. From the crack peeped a beak, then the head and finally, Lorion could see the whole creature. This creature looked strange, it had two short wings, a face of a bird, a body of a serpent and two short legs. This creature reminded Lorion of Quetzalcoatl, a mythological creature from his hometown.

This purple creature with a bird's head and red feathers kept staring at Lorion, as if he was its mother. Lorion too never saw such a creature in Harry Potter movies and had no idea what it was!

Finally, it was Lucius who broke the silence. Smiling, he said "This serpentine creature is called Occamy, a magic beast native to far East and India. Since you are a Parseltongue, I felt it was a suitable pet for you. They are quite aggressive and masters of Choranaptyxis"

Lorion was surprised. Looking at the cute little creature, it didn't feel aggressive at all. Suddenly, he heard something Lucius said and was puzzled.

"Chorno…Chora…What?"

Lucius explained "It's Choranaptyxis, means the ability to grow or shrink according to their wish. An Occamy can grow up to fifteen feet in height, or shrink as small as a ring in your finger. It is a carnivore and I hope you will take care of it properly!"

Lucius gave an encouraging smile as he explained the characters of Occamy to Lorion. As Lorion was listening carefully to Lucius, the Occamy kept nibbling its egg shells, completely clearing them off. Lucius was clearly satisfied with his gift and looked at the pocket clock. He then urged Lorion to start their shopping.

"Lorion, follow me to Leaky Cauldron. There we will buy all your necessities for this term. Also, Lorion, I suggest you not to disclose the fact that you are a Parseltongue. A Parseltongue is often taken as a dark wizard in the wizard world"

Lorion seriously nodded his head, agreeing to Lucius's arrangements. Lucius told Lorion to hold his arm and apparated before a broken down pub. Lorion felt uncomfortable after his first apparition. Clearly, it was quite suffering to teleport using this spell.
