Ch 5: Diagon Alley

Lorion, who was finally feeling better, looked around and found that he was at Charing Cross Road, London, in front of the broken-down old shop.

As soon as Lucius entered the pub, the bar tender was shocked to see a Malfoy here. However, Lucius rudely declined to even stare at them, as if this place disgusted him. He took Lorion and with long strides walked out of the bar to buy books at Diagon Alley.

Lucius then took up his walking stick and knocked the wall before them a few times. Soon, a magical scene stunned Lorion. Though Lorion had watched the movie quite a few times, still, watching the bricks move away magically fascinated him.

By now, the door to Diagon Alley was open and both Lorion followed Lucius inside. As he walked behind Lucius, Lorion was stunned. The whole street was full of people going back and forth buying their necessities.

Lucius started introducing the shops where the best books and robes would be found. Lorion saw a group of children outside the showroom chatting about 'Nimbus 2000', the fastest wand to fly around. As Lorion was busy looking at the shops of Diagon Alley, he seemed to be worried about something.

"Uncle Malfoy, where will I get the money to buy all that I need? I have no money!"

Since Lucius accepted him as his godchild, Lorion cleverly changed his way of addressing Lucius. Lucius also was quite happy with this change.

Lucius smiled and pointed his stick toward a white building "Well Lorion, there is your money! GrinGotts, it is a bank for wizards. There are no more places more secured than it."

Lorion looked at the white building Lucius pointed at, and saw the words 'GrinGotts Bank' marked on it! Lorion put his hand in his pocket, remembering the golden key Lucius gave him.

As soon as they entered the bank, Lorion saw many short creatures with dome shaped head, long pointed nose and pointed ears.

"Uncle Lucius, are those goblins?" Lorion asked curiously.

"These creatures are indeed Goblins. They are very clever, but don't like making friends. You stay with me, don't try to roam alone."

Lucius explained Lorion patiently. He then took Lorion to a goblin sitting on a high desk and coughed.

"Mr. Lorion Gaunt would like to withdraw their money!"

"A Gaunt, after many years! There is a lineage curse in the Gaunt vault, anyone without Gaunt bloodline touching the items would be cursed and incinerated, just so you know. So, did Mr. Gaunt bring his key?"

The goblin looked down at Lorion and said unhurriedly. Lorion took the key out of pocket and showed it to the goblin. The goblin nodded in satisfaction.
